@@jaymekarina It turned out cylinder 5 had no compression. I sold the car to an elderly couple who have been driving it on five cylinders for nearly three years now. I told them everything that was wrong with the car before I sold it for $1000. I lost over $3000 in parts and troubleshooting.
Trying to diagnose a problem with my 98 Nissan Maxima GLS, its spitting gasoline out the tail pipe and it may be the fuel injectors. I wish it was but its not moisture, its gas, tested it by collecting the moisture in a tuna can and lighting it on fire. I checked the codes and P0301 pop ups, misfire on cylinder 1, replaced the spark plug and no change. I like to note, that I accidentally left the lights on 3 days prior draining the battery, tried letting it charge back up while waiting for AAA (they never came) and tried starting up 3 times over 3 hours and eventually got a jump. That may have screwed up the sensors. It was the weekend and only drove 6 miles the day after, 50 miles the day after, On the 3rd day I noticed the car sounded different on start up, but I just watched a loud movie and thought my ears werent working right. Went to a store and finally noticed a substantial loss in gasoline. about under an 8th of a tank in 3 miles and strong gas smell then saw a lot of exhaust while waiting on a light, that trip was 6 miles in total from store and back. It struggled getting back home. Lastly, my girlfriend happen to have been the one to fill with gas for the last month, 3 half tanks, and informed me of filling it up with 87 octane gas rather than the recommended 91. Any help or advice will be much appreciated.
Sorry for the delay...I used a right angle Phillips. It's a small screwdriver with a 90 degree bend in it. And I used a pry bar to put some pressure down on it. Millwright tricks....
I advise quite a bit on Maxima.org 4th Gen forum. Your video saves a LOT of time and work. I'll refer other members to this. I went about the procedure the hard way. This is MUCH easier. Thank you.
Mitch i have the same car and have to do the same job, replace the injector on cylinder 1 do you think i have enough room to replace the rear valve cover gasket and oil sparkplug seals with the shortcut you showed us, or do u think i will have to take the intake off completley..thx
I'm no expert lol. I just had this shortcut, for this job. But if I had to guess, I would say they unfortunately it looks like you gotta take the intake manifold completely off my friend. Have fun.
Cover your cylinders first, keep debris out. I've got a great screw extractor set from harbor freight. You'll have to get creative with the angles. Or, try and get a good bite on the screw head with a small set of vice grips. You've got your work cut out for ya.

How did you get on? And did/do you have to reveal the intake manifold gasket?

Good job, definitely short cutted lol do you use an impact screw driver. Those screws are stubborn and strip easily.
