  • Learning how to clone mushrooms was one of the most useful skills i have realized in my experience with cultivating. This video will help you develop the skills needed to clone any mushroom you want to work with. Enoki and shiitake mushrooms are both popular gourmet edible mushrooms that can be produced in abundance with minimal effort. These two mushroom species are totally different in terms of growth parameters and I touch on these specific differences in this video.

    I struggled so so much to clone enoki because of the size. What ended up working was putting cuttings in a small zip lock bag with 98% air removed. I just left it in the fridge for a few weeks and the mycelium grew on its own

    I'm making agar plates now and I'm gonna go buy some shiitakes later on, cut out some tissue from the middle of a nice big shiitake and grow some mycelium out.
    I'll follow your video and hopefully I'll be able to produce some fruits in a few months.

    I put my dried shitake mushrooms in a plastic jar. After consuming all of them, i used the same plastic jar (without washing it first) as a container for my mung beans. Since i needed a container for newly bought dried shitake, i decided to just transfer these beans to a clear plastic to make room for my shitake. 2-3 weeks later, i wanted to cook mung beans, but my beans looked mushy and upon further inspection i saw something that looked like fungi. I was flummoxed for a bit, whatever happened to my mung beans? Then it suddenlu dawned on me: shiitake spawn!! OMG. I still havr this spawn in a new plastic jar, it kept on growing but i have nowhere to grow it (like those barks/cut trees). I have only grown oyster mushrooms before. I cant throw my spawn, it has reached one side of yhr top of my plastic cover, possibly detecting air. I have this spawn since January. I dont know what to do with it, i cant also throw it 😅

    Thankyou for another amazing video! I just started my liquid culture jars today. In a week i am going on a vacation and my family will stir the jars everyday. My question is: when the liquid mycelium jar is ready for use. How long can it stay in the jar before using it? And do you need to stir them everyday if you postpone the next step for a while? Thank you!!

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  Рік тому +2

      Stirring once every couple of days will suffice. The mycelium can stay in the jar for a long time (6-12 months). Once it’s full of mycelium you should put it in a colder room.

    • @SporenSprout

      There is yeast, bacteria, and mold spores floating in every room of your house and all over your body. We have to defend our sterile media/substrates from being exposed to them. If you are not sterile, your work will become contaminated with unwanted organisms and ultimately they will outperform and prevent any fungi mycelium from colonizing the media/substrate.
