I'm a perfectionist for all the reasons that David mentions. I don't carry it as a badge of honour but I consider it a disability. It's not that people are successful because of perfectionism but DESPITE of it. Perfectionists are less productive or even unproductive because they just don't produce and send their work into the world because it's never good enough and could always be improved, so they polish, polish, polish. They are less likely to go beyond their comfort zone because They're terrified of failing. I'm working on it but that problem that I have right now is how good enough is still good enough? I have little reference and I still tend to catastrophise.
Because your need changes too. When you're fresh off college, you can care less about the salary because you are inexperienced, you almost should take any job that pays reasonably well unless you're from a top school. But as you get married and have kids, you need more money, the former feasible job might not be anymore.
Thank you. Perfectionism is so exhausting and debilitating. I’m ready to release it. Thank you for your support. You two make the world a better place. Bless you. 🙏💕
Thank you. I made a mistake today and had major red light feelings. now realizing that perfectionism is a cruel way to treat myself. looking forward to learning how to change and be free of my harsh inner critic to whom I say “you’re fired!” :)
I looooove the way Alex debates because every single word in every single video is what I would respond to in these conversations. This is soooooooo good. Such great debates.
I never made that relation. I didn't even think of being super precise and good in my work was perfectionism - I just believed, that it has to be correct, otherwise it drives me nuts. Now I've to choose my thoughts about that in a new way, which will be more beneficial to me.

Thank you so much for making these videos!! 💖 I've struggled with intense red lights all my life...😢 & your Wu Wei teachings have been a huge comfort to me!🙂 Indeed, I especially love this video about 'Perfectionism', as I've always struggled with it. ⭐ Was hoping one day maybe you could make a video about the 'Sunk Cost Fallacy' & how it relates to Wu Wei Wisdom? As I also really struggle letting go of ‘sunk costs’ i.e. lost money, lost time, mistakes etc.😕 I've watched your many videos about regret several times each. - All brilliant btw!💖- And I understand that I need to learn a life lesson. I just think maybe I've learnt the wrong life lesson. As I keep obsessing over past mistakes & trying to "compensate" for them in unhealthy ways, which tend to end up wasting even more time & money,.😟
Thanks for your clear explanations. To stress the link between perfectionism and criticism has been revealing to me. I find hard to follow the golden thead. What would you reccomend, especially whend you are far from childhood and your memories are somehow blurred? 🙏🏻
I struggle with this as someone who has always sought external approval. If you aren’t accepted by others, you can’t get a job. If you don’t have the approval of others, you don’t keep your job. If you don’t have the acceptance and approval of others you don’t have friends or a relationship. Without the acceptance and approval of others you are alone and unemployed. I must be missing something very fundamental with this.
You don't have to be perfect to be accepted and approved. As a matter of fact, if you are too perfect, you can't get friends. In job interviews, one question often asked is what is your weakness. Having a healthy confidence earns you jobs and friends.

You are not alone. This hits close to home for me. Be well.
Try to strive for optimal or feasible instead of perfect. For example, you never find a perfect job, house, or mate. Do what it works.
Because your need changes too. When you're fresh off college, you can care less about the salary because you are inexperienced, you almost should take any job that pays reasonably well unless you're from a top school.
