I didn't know this was supposed to be a boss until I got an achievement for doing it without crushing it with the hammer, I just hit T on it to inspect, saw double bludgeoning, put a white quality two handed mace I keep on karlach for doors on, gave her haste, and just whacked him down the old fashioned way, I did take damage, but it was still really easy
lol this was a very fun way to get the no hammer achievement! Tried first time around the normal way and had to resort to hammer in the end. Next playthrough I'll be a druid and owlbear him.
I wasn't aware this was the strat we were ment to do so I basically told my friends to do all their attacks so I could last hit it to keep agro with my paladin warlock. Due to my insanely high armorclass I just dodged all his attacks 😅
I mean I didn't follow this guide but also didn't have an issue with this boss. I just made sure my 2 barbarians and shadowheart were all equipped with maces and he went down pretty fast.
@@thejustkingya, I did have two healers. A shillelagh war priest and a thief bard with the sword that sings/shriek. And thief was utterly useless offensively since I use double crossbows lol. The priest and fighter brawler stole the show in this fight tbh
This is super cheasy, from lvl5 with karlach and lea' zel equip bludgeoning weapons, buff them and use a potion of speed. With an action surge you can defeat it in a non cheese way in 2 rounds.
Damn this is awesome, im not sure i got the xp though. I even checked, unless its 500 split i definitely didn't . Can anyone confirm? TY so much either way already got the achievement but as a novice completionist on tactician this helped alot. I was maxed out one of my early rests into the city anyway last run but the sooner i level the better.
You have to pull the lever that is one of the reasons I used for example the mage hand. The golem get vulnerability for only two round once you pull the lever. And you have to keep doing it until dead
@@thejustking I was shooting the lever from up the top with a arrow. Do you think that Is why? He kept moving underneath my squad too so was unable to hit him...
@@PIxelsofHarry yea that is why i had a summon down there so he stands in the lava to become vulnerable. Or you could have someone who can run farther than it which would also work.
@@thejustking I tried it again last night and it worked! I had to use enhanced leap to get a party member down there as he killed the magic hand. But got there in the end using your method. :)
Yeah, I think that they didn't want to make throwing not too powerful since pushing can be one shot. But yea it is quite underwhelming unless throwing from a higher elevation.
Just did exactly that on my honour mode playthrough! Still works! Easy achievement! Thank you very much!
glad to help!

yea probably would do the trick I just found it funny that you could kill it with torches and fall damage.

One of the best methods
My friend was without words when I told him how I killed the robot from above. I didnt even understand that I could use the hammer lol
Pretty sure the beat way is the owl bear from the top rope strat
Lol it is pretty good or just throw 10 torches and he dead
This can be done at level one that requires level 6 tis is better
Amazing and hilarious guide! Thank you!
And a druid can transform into an Owlbear, launch itself into the golem at 1500-1800 damage 🤯
Oof lol best strategy of the game not even the gods see it coming
@@thejustking You can also make the owlbear bigger with mage spell and make it do even more damage with the jump

I'd say this is not the strat we are meant to do, your strat is most likely what was intended.
@@LomaGnome Ah I ment the strat using the hammer 😅
Oh lol i mean it would work as well
yea it might be difficult if you have no bludgeoning damage weapons

Patch 7 works fine :)
I actually defeated him straight up. I didnt know you could use the hammer lol. Guesd my partu was pretty monster xD
sounds like it i tried that before hand and had some trouble

Don’t think this works anymore, mage hand vanishes not long after the cutscene.
You can have someone else cast as well or find familiar could do the trick

True it is a little cheese (throwing is an underpowered mechanic) but this way the whole party can participate in the combat dealing damage.
Finding unique and creative ways to “cheese” combat encounters with clever strategies is what dnd combat is entirely about
@@marlow7376 true and just goes to show how much they adapted dnd into this game!

I haven't tried it recently but I just started a new game and will let you know. And glad that I could help!
i tried to do this but after a while it didnt do damage anymore, do you know why. please help me xD
maybe the thrown item isn't centered on the golem or the item you are using is too light should be around 1 pound
@@thejustking for me is says he is immune to bludgening damage, he is awakaned as soon as he comes out of the hole for some reason
