My father was a member of the 2/19th Battalion AIF. He was very fortunate not to be with his Battalion during the battle on the Bakri Parit Sulong Road. He was later wounded during the fighting on Singapore and was sent to the POW camp Sandakan in North Borneo and was one of only six survivors of the Sandakan Ranau Death March.
He past way in 1997 but still speaks today on video at the National War Memorial Canberra.

Where is the next phase? The battle of Parit Sulong bridge. As a local community that was borned there i surely wanted to know from the Australian perspective. I've read one from the Scottish volunteer named TPM Lewis but he was not involved in that battle. He was patrolling from Segamat - Pagoh - Kangkar Senangar before rejoined the Allied near Batu Pahat perimeter. In his book he told when his section arrived at Kangkar, he can hear gun fire and explosion from Pt Sulong direction but nothing they could do as they were only on patrol task and lack of resources. Thanks for this informative video. As a matter of fact not many locals aware of this event and this effort might give then some of historical story that shall not be forgotten.

Thanks for watching and I am glad you enjoyed the video. I have got plans for making more in the series, but it has gone on the back burner for a while as I have been in lockdown and making other videos about wargaming. There is more to come soon though!

    Singapura's defense will be next?
Also, can you make video of the Malay Regiment of WW2. It surely would be nice.

The next on the list is the fighting at Kuantan, then the series will move onto Singapore. But not for a while as I have other videos I am working on.

You haven't mentioned the massacre of the wounded at Parit Sulong or Lt-Col Anderson's VC

It’s a shame those barges were not destroyed. They gave the Japanese a huge advantage.
