You nailed a bunch that I wear regularly! Habit Rouge, Toy Boy, Eau Savage, Reflection Man and I've worn through my decant of Lyric Man and am looking to get a full bottle. I also like Beach Hut Man, La Nuit De L'Homme, Frederic Malle Monsieur, Layton, Herod, Spicebomb, and Encre Noir. If my partner is out of town I pull out the Kouros, Aqua Colonia Oud, and Mukhalot Malaki(Swiss Arabian). Look forward to trying the others on your list.

Hi Bud, Just bagged myself 50ml Kouros Aftershave....New sealed 1993 to 1998, just another one to top up my collection. 25 pounds delivered...I like a good deal. I'm telling you now in 5 years time these vintage kouros perfumes are going to be through the roof on pricing

Excellent idea for a video, I've often wondered what I'd like to smell on a woman that is marketed for men. Back in the early 90's I had the hots for a very attractive girl who wore Kouros, on her it was different but recognisable. She loved it for what it was but also it always prompted a reaction. That is what's so compelling about our olfactory senses and it's ability to make associations/connections so vivid. She rocked it but then again so did I!
Another woman in the comments wrote she wears Kouros when her partner is away... guess I should have included it in the list 🤷♂️😄

I’ve actually worn more men’s fragrances over the years, but as I’ve gotten closer to 50 I’m now enjoying classic, old school, and floral women’s fragrances as well.

@@RamseytheRam me too, I have both of them and love wearing MdM , but the civet in Jicky sometimes is too much. But I love having it, a true collectors piece. Also agree with you with habit rouge, people always compliment me on it

Love Habit Rouge. It’s happiness in a bottle to me. Vetiver is also great. Fahrenheit is too good not to wear; what’s wrong with gasoline on a woman? 😂
BTW: I’m torn about seeking out Mouchoir de Monsieur. I have and love Jicky. How different is it?
Ummmmm thats a tough one... it is very close to Jicky so if you have Jicky you probably dont need Mouchoir de Monsiuer ... but I actually prefer Mouchoir over Jicky 🤷♂️
They are both amazing fragrances considering we are talking 1880s & 1904 release dates 😊
On the opposite - Donna Karan "Black Cashmere" would've been great on a man (clove bomb I loved to death, discontinued somewhere in the 2000's)

PPS. hm... no cloves listed (maybe it's a mixture of other notes that remind me of clove). Anyways it's amazing.

Back then in the 80s, I was hanging around with the "plastics" aka those prettiest girls in high school, I was already so amazed to see them layering that classic Givenchy Gentleman with their usual floral feminine perfume and it's a blast. At that time GG is liked around 13 bucks for 30 mil. Similar price range goes for Eau de Gucci, Gucci Monsieur, Lapidus, Cacherel por homme . Lanvin arpege, Eau de Givenchy, Givenchy Monsieur etc.

I really want to try Eau Savage. This time of year I love wearing Blenheim bouquet. I recently sampled Sartorial it's so elegant, but my husband thinks it smells like toilet duck 🤣

Well actually months ago Rachel came up with and the idea started churning in my head.. then i made a list and set it aside .. ur comment reminded me to hunt down the list... apparently multiple women have reported back that they wear Kouros! I am stunned... should have added that to the list I guess ... thanks for the nudge on this video Heinke😊
Wait, I thought the first fragrance actually MARKETED to men was the 1934 Un Pour Homme de Caron?!
And what bottle is that Pour in Homme de Caron you have? I read that the head of Caron said that neither the bottle nor the juice has been changed since 1934. I have that iconic art deco looking bottle. I've seen really vintage commercial ads picturing the art deco bottle.
I think mouchoir de monsieur was marketed to men in 1904 which was decades ahead lf caron pour un homme... i could be wrong ... but i dont think I am 😉
@@RamseytheRam I'm reading more about Mouchoir de Monsieur and there is some conflicting info. One account I read said Jaques Guerlain created Mouchoir for a male friend for his wedding and another fem fragrance for the bride, then it was offered up to the public. Another account said that when Jicky was created, women were turned off by the animalics but men took to it, so in 1904 Guerlain "resurrected" Jicky for Men with Mouchoir de Monsieur. So I don't know what to think. But there is a lot of info circulating saying the first frag marketed to men was the Caron. Maybe it comes down to what is considered marketing. Its interesting to note that both Roger Moore and Sean Connery reportedly adopted Jicky as their signature scent. I've not tried either Jicky nor Mouchoir de Monsieur. I entered an auction for a bottle of Mouchoir de Monsieur but dropped out when the price went too high. I think I would have issues with both due to the animalics.
Yeah the animalics are there but they are turned down compared to the stuff you are thinking of like Kouros or Antaeus... if you had to pick one Mouchoir de Monsieur would be my rec. as the civet is turned down compared to jicky where it feels much more like halitosis at times 🤣
The slight "halitosis" can be a plus. It is for me in frags like Hermès Equipage (1970) and Floris Elite (1980). I think those two frags use one of those proprietary animalics packages like Animalis, that uses costus root. That note is known to have a "halitosis" facet. But it imparts a nice "old school" vintage smell. And that comes from ne, who normally hates animalic accords.
