I think it’s a word that’s part of the vocabulary of cultural performances exclusively (ie: it can’t t be used in any other contexts)
It’s what they call the opening song of any performances..! It’s more like an introduction (folasaga) or an ice breaker intended to draw the interest of the audience. Hence it is usually short and sweet..👌
