UL regs in the US are very relaxed and allow anyone to acces them with zero training but for that same reason they're considered more recreational vehicles than meaningful transportation it would be a recipe for disaster otherwise. Here in 🇨🇦 UL are licensed and given more freedom but still no one is entering controlled airspace without proper qualifications, equipment and procedures there's just no something for nothing in aviation.

I was thinking the same thing. Being that you don't have to be a pilot I have to assume that it will be handled automatically by the onboard computer. Even consumer drones have wind stabilization these days. I'd imagine the 'vehicle' with automatically stabilize flight and probably as a safety feature automatically land if wind conditions become unsafe.

How can it fly horizontally like a plane and still go so slow? Is the wing deflecting the trust downwards somehow? For VTOL it needs real power and flying like a plane it should go at least 150 mph at full throttle , but looks like this things only goes like 60 mph.
I wonder if any noice reduction has been tried out? Usually you have a round thing around the propellers to reduce sound and not to kill people who gets in the way :) But maybe it will reduce the power to much? what do you say Opener?
An absolute no-no, fixed wing, if the motors fail or no more battery or anything like that, you can't glide as it has fixed wings so you go down like a rock once you reached critical lift speed or any wind rocks you around (when no motors)

Yeah it is a strange configuration. And it shouldn't have such a belly. It should have tiltable wings. Then it wouldn't have that odd lavalamp/seahorse flight mode either.
Not sure what that even means :) Imagine a rigid wing with a carbon fiber tube at the middle that can turn in the body. I hope you can see that with bearings it doesn't take a big mechanism to turn such a wing in a craft only able to carry one person. I probably wouldn't do a two wing design like this but to not strain your mind too much you can imagine this craft just having two such tiltable wings. Just with that, and getting rid of the fish belly, it's then able to control its flight orientation, start vertically as well as cope with wind. If you want to hold yourself accountable, you can also try to remember in the future when this above design is not what will be used in the future. Learn a general lesson from it. Always think objectively about a design if you want to speak about right and wrong, never just defend the choices of perceived authority. It might seem counter intuitive but well funded fairly smart people often make blatant mistakes, even stubbornly hold on to mistakes when pointed out. Terrafugia is an example of a clumsy heavy design and they haven't questioned any of it for too many years. These are just guys that hammered together a design. Don't expect it to be well thought through. While it's inspiring to see it fly, believe me, it can be done vastly better. That said, it's not far off being something quite good.
If the audio was left original (judging by the wind it might have been) it's not as loud as I was expecting it to be. No less tolerable than some loud ricer car. If you can make it even quieter that would ease your adoption hurdles tremendously.

Put some wheels on it and call it a flying car. That'll get the press going. I give it a couple years after this is released until the legislation catches up with the tech, then you guys can get to work on some properly cool tech. A little bit of re-designing, and you'd have a vehicle worthy of the title, "flying car".
All prop planes make noise it is what it is, you can reduce some of the noise same amount of engines two per prop one motor dies the other keeps spinning to get you down on the ground safe. So 4 props a bit larger dia. spinning less revs. Could go with 16 motors smaller props to help reduce noise too. Efficiency is king for best duration for the least amount of amps 16 motors is not so lovely. Blade tech airfoils with toothed leading edges will cut in and reduce load and noise improve laminar airflow over the cord of the props airfoil. Reduce weight beyond what has been done? Turbine generation, with less need for batteries. Twin jet turbine engines for redundancy short term quick charge batteries for emergency landing only - generator will allow more than 25 miles. 2.8 gallons of jet fuel could allow up to 2hr. flights. Hobby jet size engines is all you need to produce enough KW to fly at 62 mph. On board boost battery can be use in conjunction for high amp take off and landings. On board gets quick charged during flight. 62 mph per hr. distances aka 120 miles to the beach as an example cross country. Perhaps: Turbine gel jet fuel more density per capacity for 4hr. flight duration. What if 250 mile range enough to do anything worth doing. Blackfly - Dragonfly 700 mile range stacked wings that fold out for more span 18:1 glide ratio oowha cut the amps to 1/4 and turn on the radio let the solar cells milk the ride. Hornet 8 counter weighted props single blade efficiency less noise - 60 mins. / mile range fiberglass shell - starter ride for under 15k will hook in fresh pilots with the Hornets stinger - the faithful will upgrade later when they can afford it. All prop planes make noise it is what it is, you can reduce some of the noise same amount of engines two per prop one motor dies the other keeps spinning to get you down on the ground safe. So 4 props a bit larger dia. spinning less revs. Could go with 16 motors smaller props to help reduce noise too. Efficiency is king for best duration for the least amount of amps 16 motors is not so lovely. Blade tech airfoils with toothed leading edges will cut in and reduce load and noise improve laminar airflow over the cord of the props airfoil. Reduce weight beyond what has been done? Turbine generation, with less need for batteries. Twin jet turbine engines for redundancy short term quick charge batteries for emergency landing only - generator will allow more than 25 miles.
2.8 gallons of jet fuel could allow up to 2hr. flights. Hobby jet size engines is all you need to produce enough KW to fly at 62 mph. On board boost battery can be use in conjunction for high amp take off and landings. On board gets quick charged during flight. 62 mph per hr. distances aka 120 miles to the beach as an example cross country. Perhaps: Turbine gel jet fuel more density per capacity for 4hr. flight duration. What if 250 mile range enough to do anything worth doing. Blackfly - Dragonfly 700 mile range stacked wings that fold out for more span 18:1 glide ratio oowha cut the amps to 1/4 and turn on the radio let the solar cells milk the ride. Hornet 8 counter weighted props single blade efficiency less noise - 60 mins. / mile range fiberglass shell - starter ride for under 15k will hook in fresh pilots with the Hornets stinger - the faithful will upgrade later when they can afford it.
