Notes
Recorded at Unicworn "Studios".
There are two errors on the labels. First, the labels list the tracks incorrectly; the Side Two's tracks are listed on and labeled as Side One and Side One's tracks are listed in and labeled as Side Two (the correct track listing is printed on the back cover and corresponds with the matrix etched on the record). Secondly, "Mobile Electric Chair" and "Breaking Point" are both listed as track # 4 on the labels.
One unique pressing of 1000 copies was manufactured and sold because the band broke up prior to the album's release.
Marketed By Enigma.
Printed in USA.
All songs CAPAC 1981, 1982 except 'Screwed Up', Step Forward Music, 1977.
"Special thanks: Cec English".
Processed (Plating/Metalwork) at Greg Lee Processing based on the 'L-13417' & 'L-13417-X' type etchings (entered under 'Mastered At' temporarily for now).

Holy shit, I loved Incorrect Thoughts, but this is an incredible follow-up. Underrated band!
THE MOST underrated band ever ❤️💀❤️
It’s just one guy’s opinion but I think this is the most underrated punk lp of all time
Yeah, I tottaly agree !!! This is really good !!!!!
What a loss rip whimpy roy
Not to be confused with The British Subhumans. This band came from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and were good friends with D.O.A. In fact, when the band broke up, some of them joined D.O.A. This was/is a perfect follow up to their first album, Incorrect Thoughts, also posted on You Tube, somewhere. Find it, listen, and enjoy. Tanks for posting and sharing.
The two who joined - Brian Goble and Dimwit, had previously been one half of the Skulls, back in ‘77, which was the parent band that spawned both DOA and Subhumans. Had the lineup that recorded War On 45 included Brad Kent instead of Dave Gregg, they would have been the Skulls.
Whoa, didn't realize there were two bands called Subhumans. Thanks for the informative info. I really think this album is really great !!!!
Canada's (tied for first place with DOA) greatest punk band. Everything they did was terrific! Competes with and blows away most punkers from anywhere!
Couldn't agree more
facts!!!
Don't forget about Day-Glo Abortions.
@mark rylander Absolutely!
@@baadermeinhof9787 Absolutely!
Have this on an old recorded cassette that I'm afraid to play. Great to hear it again. "Screwed Up", what a classic.
Группа дико суперски🤘🤘🤘панк никто и негде не цененет.панк не здох он вечен хой!!!!!!альбом патресающий👍👍👍👍
The number ONE of canadian punkrock records
#2 doa
I have to disagree. Their first album is 1% better. Maybe 2%.
What about S.N.F.U. ???
@@kent570253Incorrect Thoughts is *WAY* better, and I say that as someone who loves No Wishes. This is a killer album for sure, but Incorrect Thoughts is one of the top 3 best punk albums to ever come out of Canada, along with Something Better Change by DOA and the first Teenage Head album.
I ordered this from SST in early 1985 and wore the grooves out by the next year. In 1988 I bought Incorrect Thoughts (on CD Records) and by then it was hard to listen to worn out grooves of No Wishes. I have been trying to listen to this album right for decades, no cd's no nothing until now, so THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. It sounds good on UA-cam and even better through my EQ through my computer. Again, thank you sooooo much for this recording of a great Canadian band!!!!!!
Awesome 😎😎😎 I'm with you man
Hey there is a no wishes up on ebay right now.
When I started ordering punk LPs by mail in the mid 90s SST records still had copies of this. I was stupid for not getting one while I had the chance. 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Have the pressing - one of my favourite bands ever!! Met Brian Goble i Sweden in 1985 during his tour with the classic DOA line-up.
Yeah we did a warming up show for them in den helderholland during that tour , great times
This and the Stains need to be reissued by SST.
No more SST ?

Thanks for putting this up. Since it only had this one pressing it's pretty hard to come by.
The Subhumans are one of my favorite punk bands and this album does not disappoint.
I don’t understand why this one never got reissued. It’s SST, Greg Ginn’s label... and I know Ginn is a stingy bastard who likes to hold grudges... but I’ve never heard of any bad blood between him and the Subhumans. Maybe it had something to do with publishing rights, as this line-up wasn’t exactly the most stable one. I have no idea. All I know is it’s a damn shame this album remains so unattainable. I lost my copy 16 years ago and aside from a secondhand cassette recording I’ve never been able to find a replacement for less than a massive price tag that’s well outside of my working class budget.
@@Brewzerr we meet again! Funny I never saw this comment till today! (Great way to notify, UA-cam!) Anyway, my best guess: yes Ginn is a stingy bastard, yes he holds grudges, but, in his own way, he's very 'pragmatic'. In his view, I'm assuming, it was done by a band on their last legs and who in fact were broken up by the time it came out. Not to mention they album got lost in the shuffle and isn't really considered a 'classic', so Ginn likely never saw a reason to repress it (though the notes mention Enigma helped with distribution or something, so maybe there was also a rights issue). Ginn does do odd things (to say the least!): he kept The Stains lone album in print at least up until the late 80s (yet never a CD release :( ). He FINALLY issued Pagan Icons on CD in late 90s! He strangely issued Saint Vitus' second album from 1985 on CD out of nowhere just a few years ago. So he has done some 'from the vaults' reissues. Though I wouldn't hold my breath for any more. But why this (and the Dicks' contemporary Kill From The Heart) only got a one-and-done issue from SST and why Ginn never reissued them is a mystery.
@@brandonhendrix7223 Oh yeah, that Stains LP is awesome! Weird story on that one too. It was recorded in '81 but didn't actually get released until '83. They had the one song on the Chunks comp (Sick and Crazy) that was released right after they recorded it, but that was it until the album finally came out. The Stains were way ahead of the curve. They were doing the whole speed metal crossover thing long before anyone else was, and they also did that style much better than later bands. Love that album.
I've never understood the way Ginn runs his label, and from what I've heard, neither do many of the bands that he signed, haha! Not to get too far off on a tangent, but the whole weird changeover that occurred when he started up Cruz Records really fucked over a lot of his SST signings. It's a long, bizarre, complicated story. At any rate, Ginn is a weird dude. Last I heard he now lives in Texas and won't talk to or have anything to do with people from the old scene who have known him forever. Even his own brother (Ray Pettibon) won't talk to him. It's just a shame, because there are so many great albums on the SST label that are still today being held up and are unavailable.
@@Brewzerr Ginn is definitely an odd cat (pun intended). From what I gather the early years were REAL lean. Then the whole Unicorn lawsuit pretty much held the lable up for 2 years which is why there were so few releases during that time, except oddly, stuff like the Subhumans, the Dicks, and the Stains, all of which were recorded a year or two prior to release. Even stuff like Meat Puppets II were held up (it was recorded in early 83 but not released until a year later). 84-89 were the golden years. Then lable took on too many acts and basically collapsed due to that and poor management. From what I've read SST ran things handshake deals and do things 'in house'. In other words, no contracts--Ginn or Dukowski would simply say "Do you want to make a record?" If so, they usually supply the studio and producer (which is why SST records have a 'sound'). After that "Do you wanna make another record?" And on and on. Ginn said he never wanted to tie bands down with contracts. This style works all well when things are going good but after a while it caught up to them and, yes, there started being payment issues, among other things.
But I've heard a story that when the Meat Puppets went to reclaim their master tapes in the mid-90s Ginn pretty much told them he no longer has them! I guess he chunked them! Wow! In other words, I highly doubt he has the tapes for this album sitting around.
Ginn is a legend as far as I'm concerned. But he's definitely a bit of a kook.
@@brandonhendrix7223 when I started ordering punk LPs by mail in the mid 90s, SST records still had copies of this record for sale. I was close to ordering one but I didn't & now wish I had. 🤦🤦🤦🤦
But I do at least have a couple 1st pressings of a couple Black Flag records they also still had at the time. But they're not as good as this.
It’s fast,it’s heavy,it’s poetic it’s PunkRock.I think Canadian punk is the best.the subhumans.d.o.a.nomeansno.
This is amazing
Thank you from the booty of my heart for sharing this. Absolutely tremendous punk rock!
What is so frustrating is that this band is so much better than the English Subhumans. I'm not putting them down but this band I have always liked while the British one I grew out of after a year or two. Once you discover Canadian punk you realize how great a scene was going on there. And the Subhumans were one of the best of the lot. Their songs hold up over time while many others get boring and stale.
Better than their debut imo
Thanks again for posting! I always come back to this.
Menace rules and so does this cover of Screwed Up
I have this awesome album. Think I paid 2 bucks for it. Does anyone else's copy have the labels reversed on the record?
I do yes
My buddy did! Looks like we weren't the only ones
Yeah thats a bit confusing and songs in wrong order aswel
Yeah, my labels are messed up as well. One of the greatest punk records ever made
Uno de los mejores discos de Punk Hard Core de la historia, esta en mi top ten.
2:00
I have this original album for sale immaculate condition
You can't stream it on Spotify...damn I own the record but I don't want to play it for fear of not getting the big money for it!!.The Subhumans were the best Vancouver punk rock band!
You can thank Greg Ginn for that shit.
🖕FUCK STEALIFY 🖕
You can download it off my blog here melonvillehc.blogspot.com/2013/02/subhumans-no-wishes-no-prayers-lp-1983.html?m=1
Sell it to me, I'll play it. Fuck money. Music was made to be listened to.
Tom Hooper are you from Calgary?
Very good but not as great as the first lp
And the ep is untouchable
Very few things are as solid as Incorrect Thoughts. That’s a perfect punk record. Every single song, every single note is perfect. Albums like that are few and far between. I love No Wishes, but it doesn’t even come close to it’s predecessor.
