Best Khmer learning videos by far. I like the longer sentences for learning ... rather than just one word. Thanks Dara for making these videos... I hope you can continue 🙏
it's very cool that a lot of verbs related to culinary arts sound very similar to Chinese! (I'm Taiwanese/American)
ច្រៀន / fry / 煎
ឆា / fry / 炒
បក / peel / 剝
ចិត / slice / 切
ចាក់ / pour / 加
ខ្វៃ / roast / 膾
ច្របល់ / scramble / 攪拌
ថ្លឹង / weight / 秤
អាំង / grill / 炕
my favorite word is មីឆា, fried noodles, because it's sounds just like Taiwanese 炒麵, just backwards :D
Another excellent video from Dara Hok. This video is exactly what I needed to keep progessing in learning Khmer.
Thanks teacher Dara, I am scanning through old videos and boosting my vocabulary. Your channels is so helpful even years on. Thanks you so much! Keep doing what you do, because you do it so well!
Happy to hear that Charlotte. Thank you too.
Mr Dara you are un eccellent teacher . Nevertheless when people talk to me ,in Cambodia I don't understand . I wish you could teach the spoken language .Thanks
This video is brilliant. Very useful when I'm watching Cambodian cooking shows.
Now I can understand what they're saying better.
Thank you so very much🙏🙏
Welcome Po. Thanks so much
Your teaching is so clear.... keep it up,, I've been 4years now in Cambodia but still cannot speak/communicate in Khmer...but I think I can learn from your videos
Thanks so much Alika.
My favorite lesson. I love how your sentences teach you so much more than just the vocabulary. Akun Dara!
I'm glad you like it. Thank you.
Very good lesson!!
Thanks! 😃
Nice experience
Thanks so much Mehta.
Thanks for your videos -- all very helpful. In return I want to help you with one small correction to your English. You cannot say " fry means chaa." Or "the meaning of fry is chaa." The verb "mean" does not work from English to Khmer, only from Khmer to English. You can say " chaa means fry" -- that is correct. Not the other way around. You must use a different verb and different grammar. For example, "the word for fry in Khmer is chaa"
Thanks you
Welcome Viet. Thanks so much
Hi teacher , thanks for another great video , so I see that we can use the world neng for “and” and for “will” am I right? 15:47 20:23 well now I see a difference in the vowel I see...they sound similar
That's correct.
Vedo ng loy mes teacher
or-gun jraeun.
What is the difference between ឈូស and កោស? And between ហាន់ and ចិញ្ច្រំា?
Please explain the spelling of the word cook.
In the last part of this lesson (at 30 min and 20 seconds ) you teach 'Grill'. Your English translation shows 'grilled' (past tense) in the example sentence. What word in this Khmer sentence shows that it's a past tense sentence? I thought perhaps there is 'baan', but you probably use a different word to make it a past tense sentence. Kindly advise.
Yes, of course. The word used for past tense in Khmer is "baan-Verb".
You always use the English words "mean/meaning" incorrectly. It is correct to say "som" means "please." It is NOT correct to say "please means som in Khmer."
Orkgun Choern!
You're welcome.
