was there any funny business going on with this game.....why didn't the ref use the video replay for that early saints disallowed try? this is the trouble with english RL.....such a small sport that its impossible to find any decent officials.
@@zapbrannigan000 sadly it's getting to that point, can't play a fair game when the ref is so useless. The same ref who loves the video ref so much half the time he uses it he shouldn't really need too, yet when it came down to it at a grand final of all games, he didn't, the video ref is in place for those sort of try decisions, simply because the play is too fast for a ref to make a certain decision. Absolutely no logical reason as to why he didn't go to to the bid ref is beyond me, Hicks blew the whistle and was off sprinting away before Knowles had got up, he had zero time to state his case the ref wanted to get on with the game. The only reason i can think he did what he did was due to the death threats situation with Warrington fans coupled with violence by Warrington fans when they played Catalan the other week, I can't blame the guy for that maybe swaying his decision making he has a family to think about, he simply shouldn't have been the match official given Warrington were playing. It's these sorts of referees and decision by the RFL that set us so far back compared to the NRL, and even football. There was absolutely nothing professional about Hicks's officiating at the final nothing at all, put that with the death threats and i think every rugby league fan deserve to why a ref was allowed to ref such a big game given those circumstances. Would it have made a difference? Who knows maybe, maybe not, it's besides the point that sort of try is the very reason we have the video ref in the first place, he should have gone to the video ref, did the situation with the death threats impact his decision making? It's not sour grapes to demand answers. Football don't even allow refs to officiate finals consecutively...why does the RFL? If we want to spread the game and it has the potential to be a massive league, we need not only professional teams but also refs and a regulating body. In the past few weeks alone it is the RFL, Hicks and warrington and their fans who have dragged the game into disgrace. Wire fans should thank their lucky stars that disallowed try didn't happen to the likes of Wigan under Shaun Wayne, jesus the RFL wouldn't know their arse from their ear hole. In fact i suspect Warrington would be complaining to the RFL too if the boot was on the other foot. Like it or not he SHOULD have gone to video ref, Knowles got a try, even the commentators agree it was try and SHOULD have tone upstairs. Our game deserves better than half arse refs who make such bad decisions in the biggest of games.

Saints didn't deserve to win, they were headless chickens, Warrington were average, reffing in both major finals was abysmal especially against Salford, but it's a compliment that everyone seems to hate Saints the way they used to hate Wigan.
