You’re coming into your own friend. Very comprehensive as usual. I still rock the ATR2100 with the mini usb connection. Two of them actually. I’ve been meaning to try the updated version with USB-C

Kevin, thank you buddy! I appreciate the kind words! I started adding time-stamps for sections to make it more bearable for anyone watching my loooooong videos, haha! To this day, I still haven't had one single comment from anyone who has said any of my videos are too long, which I find surprising! My other video on a Comica wireless lav mic for smartphone filming was a freakin 1 hour and 13 minutes long...a new land speed record, LOL! I just received another Comica microphone, this time for a wireless dual lav mic for camera filming, so that will be my next review. I noticed peeps on my small channel don't really care for a camera mic review, maybe it's not their thing? They rather see content related to podcasting gear instead...oh well! I also want to start adding more content related to photography and camera stuff, cuz that's one of my main interests that I've been into for over 30 years. I really like the Audio Technica mic. I'm sure I wouldn't notice any difference in sound quality between the latest X version or the previous version. Last year I had a couple of the Audio Technica 2005 mics, and I like the look of the black flat top capsule. But the crazy blinding blue LED light that could not be turned off ended up being a deal breaker for me, so I refunded them. The LED light on the latest X model is much more subdued, so I'm okay with it, haha!

I currently hear white noise/static when I connect my microphones to my p4. They are connected via a mini jack female to male xlr adapter. Do you think that is the reason for the noise?

@@caseyonlocation8257 I just ordered a cloudlifter, gets here early April. I’m hoping to dial some of the gain out. I will let you know how it goes 👍

@@matthewkane7524 Hi Matthew. That's great! I'm curious why you didn't choose the Triton Fethead instead, which is a simpler method of inserting the device into the rear of mic, then XLR cable. A Cloudlifter is a larger rectangular device that needs to be placed on table, plus needs a 2nd XLR cable going out of the device. Hence entire Cloudlifter makes for a less portable solution cuz it needs to be set on table next to the PodTrak P4. I have a Triton Fethead and it's a simpler solution and works well. The Cloudlifter will also work well too, but the ergonomics and setup is entirely different than the Fethead. By the way, if you are using more than one microphone into the Cloudlifter, consider getting the dual channel model, versus using 2 separate Cloudlifter single channel devices. Lots to consider I know. Are you using a "quiet" microphone like the Shure SM7B that may need a mic amplifier? If so, an amplifier is def a noticeable improvement. You will be able to cut the gain dial level by half while having a "louder" recording voice and avoiding any hissing/humming background noise. Good stuff. This is what I have, the Triton Fethead, costs less and is a smaller form factor than the Cloudlifter. The compact Fethead design is about the size of a spark plug used for a car engine: www.amazon.com/TRITON-AUDIO-FetHead-Microphone-Preamp/dp/B06XDPTDN5/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=triton+fethead&qid=1616290109&sr=8-2 But if you using something like the Zoom ZDM-1 microphone, which I think is a relatively "loud" mic, I don't think an amplifier is necessary recording with the PodTrak P4. You already have plenty of volume with the ZDM-1 even at the gain dial setting of 6 which produces no detectable unwanted background electronic noise. For awhile, I was considering getting the dual channel Cloudlifter to use with my Rode Rodecaster Pro. The Rodecaster simply sits on my desk, I don't transport it anywhere, hence if I were to use a dual channel Cloudlifter on the desk, that won't make any difference in terms of portability. I think a dual channel Cloudlifter costs around $250 so it's a bit pricey.

@@caseyonlocation8257 Spot on Casey. These are all things I considered. I have the ZDM-1 mic. I messed up my first podcasts volume. The hiss from the gain scared me into turning it down. I also tricked myself by turning the head phone volume up. When I posted it, there was no hiss, but the volume was to low.
I was impressed that the Fetthead offered 2 more dB of gain than the cloudlifter. Reviews seemed mixed with the build quality.
I want to setup a permanent podcast area and leave it alone. The cloudlifter is best suited for this. I think I’m going to really lean on the podtrak p4 as a portable device. It’s compact, weighs nothing and has all the features I need.
      I’m still learning coach 🤣👍🙏🏼
