The JF-17 is proably the best plane that any country can afford between 15 and 25 million dollars. (The plane costs 15 millions and is better than a lot of models that are sold at 22-25 millions.) I beleive that this plane is gonna be the 'MiG-21' of the 21st century.
JF-17 Rocks and its for sure that this aircraft is a Multirole fighter and experts are saying one can compare it with Mig-29 in fighting capabilities. Even azebijan Airforce officials said its better than Mig-29s they have right now. so i must say PAF rocks....credit goes to their professionalism and commitment that what they dreamed they did.

Just look at the technologies that JF-17 incorporates.The only Fighter with DSI intakes other than F-35.Fly By Wire,Decent EW suite,Sensor Fusion capabilty, Avionics system all indicates that its a pretty decent 4-4.5 Generation Aircraft. The best thing about FC-1 is its the only fighter which is co-developed by an Air force itself .So it was Tailor made according to PAF's requirements.All the changes needed were quickly incorporated.PAF shared its own Input which it gained from Western tech!
yes u got that correct... su-30 is the export version of su-27UB combat trainer aircraft which was a huge export success .su 30 has many third world equipments like israel,france,south africa etc.moreover they r produced by two different plants and su-27 is now hopelessly obsolete so rather then replacing them with su 30 which itself has completed over 15 yrs of service they r planning to replace them with t-50.seems logical to me.

yup the LCA resembles the Mirage-2000 & I am not afraid to say it coz it probably is. At that time where we had no aircraft designers, Dassault helped us. So yes it is a copy to a limit, however if u see the nose cone, the intakes, and the LERX they are completely new on the Tejas, whereas the JFT is a whole another story. I get ur logic, I know every generation plane is an improvement over the next, but it doesn't take an aeronautical engineer to see that the JFT is a carbon copy of the IAR-95

While China is building FC-1 prototypes and using it as a testbed for better planes, they have sold PAF a test bed project. 1st 18 Rafale's will come from France in 2015 and the rest will be built in India starting 2015. Pak-Fa's will be 1st inducted in RAF and IAF will probably have it by 2016-17. For rafales no we don't have to wait ahead of 2015.
Pak and Chinese has done a good job, it does proof that, not only the Expensive equipment can do the job. Most of the western equipment 3/4 is the labour cost. if you cut the price of labour down, the price of the product way down.

Look Rainbow-Dude, the F-16's design includes a bubble-canopy, chin-mounted air-intake, with internally installed cannon. Whereas the JF-17 Thunder has a two-piece canopy, shoulder-mounted DSIs and has an externally mounted cannon. BTW As you know that China also have the variant of Su-30'MKK'.So when it was pitted against J-10A in exercises,J-10A got the upperhand almost everytime & that was Just J-10A,now a much better J-10B have also come which PAF will be getting too.So there is a hint in that how Quickly Chinese Aviation Industry is advancing & maturing.Even now China has surpassed Russia in certain factors in the aviation industry & they're going towards Self-Reliance which also explains why they didnt opted for Su35

Indian LCA Tejas falls behind JF-17 because its not even Operational Yet.LCA Tejas project started in the 1980's but its STILL not completed.Its one of the longest Duration taken by a Figher Aircraft to be Built.While Jf17 whole project was completed within a remarkable time of ten years from 1993-2003.Even now Block 2 of JF17 is gonna be ready in this Year which will be comparable to PAF latest F-16 Block 52 Jet& Block 3 in 2015 will feature AESA radar & will come on par with LATEST F16 Block60
Block 1 is near in flight performance of F-16 block 15-20 but much ahead in systems, avionics, radar,ecm, weapons. Block 2 will be near block 52 with a even bigger weapons package,performance depends on the upgraded engine. Main advantage is it home built and cheaper and we can try build something even more higher gen in future,obviously if we behave and put our country together.

If you check its Wikipedia page it says for block 1 estimated cost is 15-18 Million Dollars and Block 2 is 20-25 Million dollar. For F-16 its around 20 Million. So not sure if its really cost effective. Its better to have home grown technology and it makes sense but its no cheaper than any western plane.

IAF Mig 29's have been upgraded to Mig 29 UPGs, you can compare them and see the that it's not the old Mig-29s anymore. And if you are tlaking about upgrades then our frontline fighter(Su-30MKI) will also be upgraded to Super Sukhois a near 5th gen plane. U can google it. And yes Tejas may not be ready now but by 2014, IAF has promised productions....
Oh don't mind my Fellow Pakistani Post about rating F-22 inferior to JF-17. Actually every common citizen (with a very little know-how of Defence related Tech) of any country considers its country made Weapon as Invincible and Best in the world. F22 is a 5th Generation Stealth plane with a different Role where as JF-17 is 4.5 Generation Light Multi Role Fighter. So they can't be compared as they belong to totally different league.
nope thats your assumption china always pushes for complete indignation and because paf demand is so high of 250-300 even the Chinese sector production is fulfiling the PAF requirment. moreover Chinese ac have different layout and paf requirement has different layout air chief had explained it during first test flight.this specific ac was needed as per PAF engineers requirement major reason why paf is mostly intrested.in j17.j10 has already beensigned as frontline fighter and jf17 as backbone
The Russian Su-30 doesn't have all the features of the export variants MKI,MKM and MKAs. the export variants have literally the whole of the avionics system from different countries, The MKI has an American targetting pod and some of its components from Dassault and from HAL etc. These export variants incorporate the best of other aviation companies to make it what is today.
I still remember that US spent Billion of dollar on their NASA project, at the end one man still can do the same product at a friction of cost, still can have the same machine to fly to space.
Yes,but like everyother project JF-17 Project also evolved.Thats why even the whole project name was changed.At first It was intended to be just a better replacement for F-7s,Mirages 3-5's,A-5 but then a need aroused for something much better for PAF as it came under sanctions during 1990's.They realized that there should be an Aircraft which can also be able to take up the roles of F-16's.F-15 was also built wayback in the 1960-70's Era so does it mean that it couldn't evolve.Look at F-15SE now
Check out Greece,Poland,Pakistan,Iraq F-16 sales. F-16 52+ is $100 million + a piece and that too with US control over them.Block -2 is suppose to be very close to block 52 PAF has.
And who said on the same time ?? The Pak-Fa's will come sometime in 2016-2017, the FGFA's after 2017, AMCAs after 2020. Any air-force will induct planes according to a certain time-frame, i.e. retiring one type of plane will bring the others. The AMCA is repoted to have 6th gen features.
As for F-35, it is still an ongoing project so if India does seek it, it will come under the JSF program and thus Transfer of Technology. True commonality is precedes over diversity, however you are forgetting that joint projects usually result to ToT just like the Rafale project which will give India 60% ToT of the Rafale. So besides increasing diversity it will give India knowledge for testbeds of the AMCA or the AURA UCAV, etc.

no not because of that chinese flanker have their own spares from china but they were already decidind for their own aerial superiority fighter and were more intrested in j10, recent update is that they are evaluating j11b for naval role but it is only speculation as yet

PAF should improve on its capacity to carry weopens and instead of Russian engine should look for good Chinese or Western engine. I think JF-17 Block II will have these new features. With 300 of these babies they will be real force to reackon with.

Honestly first time i saw it my expectations were low. But this thing looks great, it's manueverable, fast, and most likely cheap (for a fighter) a dream of a fighter for small/poor countries.

@ROONEYGIBBS6 The 'Fully Junk' aircraft is the hindustani Tejas, which has taken 25+ years and billions of dollars and still isn't under production. They had to diminish the IOC requirements just so that the first order for 20 Tejas to the hindustani air force. Its better in performance and with WS-13 engine on its way, the JF-17 Thunder will have more power, armed with (China) SD-10/BVR, (Brazil) MAR-1/ARM and (China) PL-9/WVR ...... Pakistani fighter pilots have the ideal machine to fly!
@MrDesiPak Dont forget jf-17s are a replacement for our obsolete fleet of 3rd gen F-7PGs variant of MIG 21.JF-17s have successfully filled this gap.They are not our prime dog fighters.We are still looking for capable multirole fighters and MCA's.j10-B is a smart choice.

@alicool0007 Nope your correct, Guess working in the Royal Air Force as a avionics engineer means I don't know anything about planes. It's a simple equation. Without thrust you get no lift. Depends what you take in to consideration really of the weight of the plane as well acting with the lift and the gravity. If you want to be picky the lift depends on the low pressure created on the upper ailerons, but now I'm just showing off.
It doesn't change the fact that JF-17 was never an indigenous project by China and Pak. And do not forget that the scrapped IAR-95 project is the same as the JFT. The projected performance of the IAR-95 and the whole structure is completely the same as JF-17. So more or less the evolution never actually happened.

That is where u are wrong dear the JFT has its root in the Super-7 project which was done by the help of Mig OKB, that is after Mig sold the izdeje 33(LFI), a cancelled project, concept to China. Project Sabre II which was rebranded as FC-1 had help from Grumman Aerospace USA so it's probably more than 10 years. We have not fought in the air wars of the world wars and neither have we any experience I think it as an honest attempt by DRDO to make a plane on their own, so yes it takes time.

Guys remember, JF-17 isn't a big deal. It's just one step to get our engineers familiar with making jets so we don't fail like India did with the LCA.

Indian LCA Tejas falls behind JF-17 because its not even Operational Yet.LCA Tejas project started in the 1980's but its STILL not completed.Its one of the longest Duration taken by a Figher Aircraft to be Built.While Jf17 whole project was completed within a remarkable time of ten years from 1993-2003.Even now Block 2 of JF17 is gonna be ready in this Year which will be comparable to PAF latest F-16 Block 52 Jet& Block 3 in 2015 will feature AESA radar & will come on par with LATEST F16 Block60

Block 1 is near in flight performance of F-16 block 15-20 but much ahead in systems, avionics, radar,ecm, weapons.
Block 2 will be near block 52 with a even bigger weapons package,performance depends on the upgraded engine.
Main advantage is it home built and cheaper and we can try build something even more higher gen in future,obviously if we behave and put our country together.

If you check its Wikipedia page it says for block 1 estimated cost is 15-18 Million Dollars and Block 2 is 20-25 Million dollar. For F-16 its around 20 Million. So not sure if its really cost effective. Its better to have home grown technology and it makes sense but its no cheaper than any western plane.

JF-17 looks very similar to the F-20. I think both look very nice.
It needs a better breaking system, probably better looking then the F 16, but if its going to take that much strip to land, then we've had it! PAKISTAN ZINDABAD! and JEAY HIND!!!!!
IAF Mig 29's have been upgraded to Mig 29 UPGs, you can compare them and see the that it's not the old Mig-29s anymore. And if you are tlaking about upgrades then our frontline fighter(Su-30MKI) will also be upgraded to Super Sukhois a near 5th gen plane. U can google it. And yes Tejas may not be ready now but by 2014, IAF has promised productions....
Oh don't mind my Fellow Pakistani Post about rating F-22 inferior to JF-17. Actually every common citizen (with a very little know-how of Defence related Tech) of any country considers its country made Weapon as Invincible and Best in the world. F22 is a 5th Generation Stealth plane with a different Role where as JF-17 is 4.5 Generation Light Multi Role Fighter. So they can't be compared as they belong to totally different league.
nope thats your assumption china always pushes for complete indignation and because paf demand is so high of 250-300 even the Chinese sector production is fulfiling the PAF requirment. moreover Chinese ac have different layout and paf requirement has different layout air chief had explained it during first test flight.this specific ac was needed as per PAF engineers requirement major reason why paf is mostly intrested.in j17.j10 has already beensigned as frontline fighter and jf17 as backbone
The Russian Su-30 doesn't have all the features of the export variants MKI,MKM and MKAs. the export variants have literally the whole of the avionics system from different countries, The MKI has an American targetting pod and some of its components from Dassault and from HAL etc. These export variants incorporate the best of other aviation companies to make it what is today.
I still remember that US spent Billion of dollar on their NASA project, at the end one man still can do the same product at a friction of cost, still can have the same machine to fly to space.
Yes,but like everyother project JF-17 Project also evolved.Thats why even the whole project name was changed.At first It was intended to be just a better replacement for F-7s,Mirages 3-5's,A-5 but then a need aroused for something much better for PAF as it came under sanctions during 1990's.They realized that there should be an Aircraft which can also be able to take up the roles of F-16's.F-15 was also built wayback in the 1960-70's Era so does it mean that it couldn't evolve.Look at F-15SE now
Check out Greece,Poland,Pakistan,Iraq F-16 sales. F-16 52+ is $100 million + a piece and that too with US control over them.Block -2 is suppose to be very close to block 52 PAF has.

The Pak-Fa's will come sometime in 2016-2017, the FGFA's after 2017, AMCAs after 2020. Any air-force will induct planes according to a certain time-frame, i.e. retiring one type of plane will bring the others. The AMCA is repoted to have 6th gen features.

As for F-35, it is still an ongoing project so if India does seek it, it will come under the JSF program and thus Transfer of Technology. True commonality is precedes over diversity, however you are forgetting that joint projects usually result to ToT just like the Rafale project which will give India 60% ToT of the Rafale. So besides increasing diversity it will give India knowledge for testbeds of the AMCA or the AURA UCAV, etc.
dear if dsi are nothind ask indian not to incorporate it because it only happens to be in f35 and j10b. moreover for your kind information most of information on the net is about prototype one of this jet the production version is prototype6. the EW suite it carries is mostly 5th gen for your kind information you might feel it bad it is not in most 4th gen jets

PAF should improve on its capacity to carry weopens and instead of Russian engine should look for good Chinese or Western engine. I think JF-17 Block II will have these new features. With 300 of these babies they will be real force to reackon with.
It's funny that the Pakistani F-16's on almost every engagement with the JF-17 out performs it in every aspect because of the F-16's superior thrust to weight ratio, maneuverability and avionics!

Simranjeet Singh this airplane was design from 4 country Pakistan,China, USA and Russia.It use to replace Pakistan’s MIG-21、F-5、MIRAGE-Ⅲ、F-7、A-5 and F-6. so that is why it is look like many warplanes

@ROONEYGIBBS6 The 'Fully Junk' aircraft is the hindustani Tejas, which has taken 25+ years and billions of dollars and still isn't under production. They had to diminish the IOC requirements just so that the first order for 20 Tejas to the hindustani air force.
Its better in performance and with WS-13 engine on its way, the JF-17 Thunder will have more power, armed with (China) SD-10/BVR, (Brazil) MAR-1/ARM and (China) PL-9/WVR ...... Pakistani fighter pilots have the ideal machine to fly!

@MrDesiPak Dont forget jf-17s are a replacement for our obsolete fleet of 3rd gen F-7PGs variant of MIG 21.JF-17s have successfully filled this gap.They are not our prime dog fighters.We are still looking for capable multirole fighters and MCA's.j10-B is a smart choice.

That's a great success from Pakistan point of view. Pakistan need to develop Intercontinental Missiles pretty soon to bring China on striking distance. China is playing like a friend for sometimes now,it won't remain same in future.

It's a simple equation. Without thrust you get no lift.
Depends what you take in to consideration really of the weight of the plane as well acting with the lift and the gravity. If you want to be picky the lift depends on the low pressure created on the upper ailerons, but now I'm just showing off.

It doesn't change the fact that JF-17 was never an indigenous project by China and Pak. And do not forget that the scrapped IAR-95 project is the same as the JFT. The projected performance of the IAR-95 and the whole structure is completely the same as JF-17. So more or less the evolution never actually happened.

That is where u are wrong dear the JFT has its root in the Super-7 project which was done by the help of Mig OKB, that is after Mig sold the izdeje 33(LFI), a cancelled project, concept to China. Project Sabre II which was rebranded as FC-1 had help from Grumman Aerospace USA so it's probably more than 10 years.
We have not fought in the air wars of the world wars and neither have we any experience I think it as an honest attempt by DRDO to make a plane on their own, so yes it takes time.
