And forgot to mention maybe the best part. Normally I had to rest my legs 2-3 days after long run, but with Superblast I’m ready to go on Tuesdays again 😊
Asics guy here. I have 40 km on these, and I agree with you. I would only use this shoe for long runs. I don't find this shoe particularly fast. I will run in my Magic Speeds for faster speeds.😎 These are ridiculously priced, but I am hoping they will last if I only use them once a week for long runs. I also wouldn't use them for a race shoe at any distance. I would go with a race specific shoe with a carbon plate. Thanks for another great review.
In some ways a refreshing review, takes you back to the days when you bought running shoes to run in and not really have a load of different types. Still searching for those to make me run faster.
I absolutely agree with your take on the Superblast. Great video and loved the inclusion of the BitR and Kofuzi! Keep killing it and releasing great content!
I believe it is the best video I saw from you. Good structure. Good idea to put the run footage while you read the stats. Maybe also put an overlay for a few secs with the stats. Congrats!
Great video! The only Asics i have in my running line up are the Novablast 2 and 3. I really want to buy these Superblast but 2 things are stopping me, the price and colorway, i will wait for discounts and see if Asics give us other colors. Cheers!
I’m not sure about the superblast, I thought (considering the stack height) it would be a very soft mushy shoe but instead it’s pretty firm, a bit too firm for me, and it wasn’t too bouncy, I prefer the new balance SC trainer v2 (also 210 GBP is really expensive, 404 in Australia, the retail price in Australia is 320$ which is 166 GBP/Quid so australias got it at a better value, it’s also the same price as the new balance sc trainer
Pretty light for such a high stack shoe. I've got new balance sc trainer and although they are nice and soft but it's so heavy and anytime I go uphill it's like having ankle weights on. I might have to try this as I enjoy lighter shoes to train in.
If it can do long runs, can't it do short runs? Or does that assume that everyone always does their short runs at a significantly faster pace for which the Superblast isn't ideal for? The Prime X does have a better outsole, but it's $120 more then the Superblast haha. Superblast is $280 and the Prime X Strung is still $400 in Canada as of November 2023. For me the big plus according to reviews over the Novablast is it's stability.
@@FordyRuns What about GR3 vs Superblast for CRUISING at a consistent pace for the LONG runs with less work on the lower legs? Talking half marathons up to Ultra Marathons here. Which do you go for?
Ok, my wife just gave me an ultimatum…..either love my Puma Velocity Nitro 2’s, love my Asics Novablast 3’s, love my New Balance 1080 V12’s, love my Saucony Triumph 20’s, love my Nike Invincible 2’s, love my ………? 😱What’s a shoe loving guy to do?? Ha ha 😁
My issue with the Novablast 3 is that when running my feet slap the ground fast.. I had this also with the Vomero.. Like slapping your foot every step? I am a heel striker so probably the transition from the heel to the forefoot in to fast? Is it the same in the Superblast?
Son cool this featuring. I had m'y 3 favorites UA-cam Chanel in One vidéo Those shoes seems so good, but i won't spend more than 200. It's to expensive NB: sorry for m'y bed english writting but i'm from Switzerland and so french speaker.
@@FordyRuns I really appreciate your consistency on calling out the price. It can be a great shoe, but c'mon Asics, don't gouge your customers like this!
What's stability like? Suspect I'll stick to my Saucony Tempus for long runs and Nike ZoomX Invisible for recovery although they will need replacing at some point!
I was intrigued by the Superblast but I already have the Prime X Strung and SC Trainer, so I don't need another superstack kind of long run shoe. Also, considering I was able to get the PXS at $150 during the Black Friday sale that Adidas and other retailers had at below $200 and the SC Trainer at below $150 during the sales events in the US, the Superblast at $220 is not at all attractive to me. I may consider it at a discount sometime down the road but not at the full price and with a different colorway. Are clashing colors that make you dizzy the "in" thing for shoe companies to do right now? BTW, how do you compare the Superblast to the PXS?
Thomas had it right. Novablast and Superblast are similar. Dont waste $220. They are a daily trainer. Nobody is trying to race and PR in these. Spend a little more and get a carbon plated shoe. Wait till they go on sale. Ridiculously overpriced.
I said this in the other channels as well. I think at US$220 it is an overpriced shoe. I can buy Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 at US$225 and use it for all training (speed workouts, long runs) and also race in it. Probably even Endorphin Speed 3 can work as well as Superblast for long runs at US$170.
Asics got better build quality, though. Also more comfortable. The nimbus 25 knocks any Saucony out of the water in terms of comfort and build quality. Not that great for higher speeds though.

I absolutely love my Superblasts. Already done 3 Sunday 21k long runs in these, and normally Sunday is hard for me, suddenly Sunday is Funday! 😊
And forgot to mention maybe the best part. Normally I had to rest my legs 2-3 days after long run, but with Superblast I’m ready to go on Tuesdays again 😊
Yeah 100%
this is like when two of your favorite sitcoms, do a crossover episode …excellent, nice job mixing it up

Thanks David super interesting to hear your views
Thanks for the call!
Thanks so much for taking the time to help out my channel
This is the best collab since Boy George made a cameo appearance in the A-Team 😄🙌
Thank you sir

The best collab since The Harlem Globetrotters made a cameo appearance in Scooby Doo.
Well done for calling Asics out on the price, great idea to collaborate with other channels.
Thanks a bunch means a lot
Cant get a better colab than Fordy, Believe in The Run and Kofuzi 🤙🏽✌🏽
Thank you
Nice - what an enjoyable format for a video with the video calls! 😄

Well said!
Star studded cast today! Would love to see the 4 of you in a chat! That would be one fun and hilarious conversation lol
Thanks Jason! We have been lucky enough to have both on the podcast but just not at the same time!
@@FordyRuns I definitely saw the BITR episode, that was great, but I don't think I saw the one with Kofuzi! I'll have to find that one!
Fordy runs the best shoetube channel of 2022! kudos lad from Dublin here.
Thanks so much Martin I really appreciate it!

These or Glideride 3 for long runs? Amazing video!! Congrats
Glideride on a budget ... no budget get these
@FORDY RUNS I got glideride 3 for £108 on black Friday. Very happy with my new long run shoe for my next marathon training block 😀
Best shoetube video, ever!

This is epic. Brilliant to call the other shoetubers on a shoe that doesn't make sense to you. Well done!
Thank you very much!!
@@FordyRuns The price on these though, $219 USD., ouch. It's almost better to just get a carbon plated shoe for that price.
Moving up in the world with all the celeb running contacts 👍🤣
big week coming bro stand by
Just on spot as always!!
Thanks again!
Like for Steve. Thanks for this information about the Superblast. A nice day for everyone.
thank you
I enjoyed running in these until I tried out the supercomps from new balance. I don't know man, carbon plated shoes are just on another level.
Ok now to watch glideride 3 review 😅
Enjoy

If I didn’t have the SC trainer I would try this out. Especially considering I can get the first responder discount
There you go
Great video Fordy. Like the look of the shoe. Superblast or speed 3
Speed 3 is cheaper
Awesome video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thoughts on this vs Glide Ride 3 for soaking up the longer miles?
These work better at goal pace BUT they are the wrong price
That was my question, I'm confused 😕

Yep don't pay full price
If only Asics don't price their shoes that high…🤦🏻♂️😢. I'll stick with the Alphaflys and PrimeX with their discounts for now for my max cushions.

@@FordyRuns I really appreciate your consistency on calling out the price. It can be a great shoe, but c'mon Asics, don't gouge your customers like this!

Great review. This is the best review of this shoe I’ve seen.
Do these still run long in the Toe box, I have a set of v2 not even used em.
Mine fit lovely! I do like a bit of room though
If these were $30 cheaper id get them. However at $200 us dollas i see them as a rip off at full price.

asics really need to improve the outsole in this shoe and also in novablast... probably the weakest point on these shoes...
yes 100%
Maybe they've done it on purpose to allow an easy update for a v2 model 🤷🏻♂️
