I talked to her briefly after a concert in Cleveland years ago, she was very nice and ready to answer all my dumb questions. She, and the group are all class. Dearly miss Tim, but the new guy is very good and a great asset.
Janis's vocals were what drove those pop hits. I love everyone of the members of Manhattan Transfer, but it was Janis's pipes that landed them on the radio again and again. Thank you Janis! Had you not been the lead on Operator, your music would not have made its way into my home as a young man. My folks loved the Manhattan Transfer after that. My mom kept the "Vocalese" tape in her car and I have held you all very close to my heart since 1975 and your album came into our lives and became a part of our household "playlist". Thank you for the music.
Their recording of "A Nightingale Sang In Barclay Square" is the greatest acapella recording I've ever heard. Janis did a Barbra Streisand take-off at Biltmore many years ago. It was a riot!
My wife and I went to 4 to 5 Manhattan Transfer concerts at HollywoodBowl and I believe at the Greek. I got custody of all the cds but the memories of those concerts are still shared. Janis made a great album, “At Home”, by herself and I love the song Small Day Tomorrow”. Star class as always. Thanks Janis for sharing your voice and talent.
Janis yes all of you made a very distinct impression on this then budding singer. I will never forget the first performance I attended at Radio City Music Hall. It was 1986 and we were given copies of George Orwell's book! I still have it!. I was also there at The Beacon Theater and have seen you a few times at The Blue Note. You all never fail to give great performances. I congratulated Yaron once at The Blue Note and he was surprised I knew who he was!. I think it was The South Street Seaport where you all performed a concert. I was there too. I am forever grateful to you all for sort of teaching me vocalese. I am now finishing up my EP and tapped on all my musical influences but in no way do I imitate anyone. But those fabulous chord structures!. Amazing. A group of us NYC Hotel Concierges did a tribute to the music of the 30s and 40s at "Windows On The World" with their orchestra at the original World Trade Center many years ago. I chose "Blue Champagne". I sang the hell out of it!. We opened with "Choo Choo" too. Please continue to nourish us after this is all over as I need my dose of Manhattan Transfer!

Fantastic Singer and group. Thank you guys!
No Autotune required, just pure talent and creativity. So glad they had such a long run.
Janis, you're a ray of sunshine 🌞.
