👍Hi Joe! I never used a EQ pedal. But this sounds interesting and gives amazing tone shapes. Maybe I give it a try - and it's not an expensive tool.👍Keep on rockin'🤩🤩🤩👍
I would recommend an EQ pedal 100%!! In tomorrow's video (ua-cam.com/video/Rz2R7nujMAU/v-deo.html), I show how it sounds in an amplifier's effects loop to shape the preamp tone.
EQ pedals are really overlooked. A lot of guys go through mountains of pedals searching for tone, but all drive pedals are basically broken down into fuzz, distortion, overdrive, boost. If you already have 4 of those basic pedals and an EQ pedal, there are 100s of tones you can get from it. Boosting upper mids as little as 1db can give you those cutting singing lead tones.
I've tried different compressors through the years, but it's not really my thing. Even at very low settings, it messes with the dynamics (which, of course, it the point of a compressor!!).
To be fair, I play through a distorted JCM 800 with a distortion pedal (DOD 250 or some variant of that) in front of it, so my signal does get compressed a bit. Maybe a compression pedal is just a tad too much compression...? I also use the volume knob a lot and picking style for dynamics and a compressor always seem to cramp my style.
@@JoeHartRocks yeah i get it...I did what you did, added a compressor, and a univox superfuzz, and a 31 band eq, and I destroyed 2 4 x 12 speaker cabs... yeah don't do it

100% true!!!!!
Sounds Amazing Joe!! A eq pedal sounds good when you boost sound with different eq levels
Useful demonstration. Thanks.
I'm thinking of doing this to take some of the edge off the distortion.
Definitely give it a try. And report back on how it worked for you. Thanks!
You can put the EQ before the drive pedal or after or both , endless possibilities.
I use a tsunami rack mounted 31 band eq.. those are the cream
Way back in the day, I had a rackmount DOD 31 band EQ. It was very cool!!
Yea it's good. But mite be a bot complicated for some people.
sounds like you need an sd1 or tube screamer through the amp overdrive?
I have a LOT of drive pedals, but actually do not have either of those... I think I need to get shopping!!!
Add a compressor first to the chain thats key

@@JoeHartRocks have you tried it with an eq in the rig? 😉😉😉
@@JoeHartRocks i suppose if you the lead singer from Green day and really dig in ... then yes compressor is not your thing lol

Good video bro 👍
