In today's video I’m giving my back deck a much needed makeover to freshen it up for the outdoor season. We spend most of our time out here so we prioritize giving this space a nice sprucing up every few years to keep it feeling serene. 🌵
First, I gave the deck a thorough cleaning by blowing it off, spraying then scrubbing it down. I do this every year. Next, after making a few trips to an At Home store over an hour away, I put up some new umbrellas along with a chimenea for our seating area. 🔥
I also stained my wood table then put together a succulent centerpiece. Why have I waited so long to plant succulents? This spot gets hot and succulents with hold up nicely while also looking beautiful! 🤩
I ordered some string lights and poles to give the deck some nice ambience and extra lighting. It looks great!
Threw in a few new throw pillows and I was done! It’s amazing what a little sprucing up can do for a space!

I plant annual flowers every year in containers. This year I went with a cool color palette with purples, white, chartreuse, and light yellow. Most of the annual flowers are from @ProvenWinnersUA-cam and I can’t wait to see how they progress. 🌸

I also planted Dusty Miller, Sweet Potato Vine, and Alyssum.
I started by routing my drip line up through each empty pot before filling them with @MiracleGro potting soil and sprinkling in some slow release fertilizer. It was a warm but slightly rainy day as I planted with Nora Jones music playing softly in the background. Bliss! 🙌

I have run water lines up through the bottom of my pots before and maybe it's easier with little drip lines. But honestly I have found that it's just better to run them on the top because moving the pots around with the water coming from underneath it makes a lot harder. But I'm looking forward to seeing your final result. You're absolutely adorable and I love your deck

Maybe you can put a flat board under the succulent planter to protect your table a little more from any water coming from the towel you placed in it
That’s an option! There’s a hollow space under the container so I’m thinking I’ll slip some small plastic trays in there where they won’t be visible to catch any extra water. The towel is simply to keep soil from leaking out. 😊

Amazon do sell the cushions for those kind of savings. I just purchased some for mines. But other than that, everything looks nice!
