listening in april 2020 in the midst of corona virus lockdown hell and this is making me feel happy and sad at the same time- man i wish i was back in the 80s...! Scritti politti made me so happy then and they are doing it still...
@@mereej8924 you've hit it on the head. I too miss the 80s so bad. Where did it all go so wrong? Life was easier, simple and fun back then. Today, it's a cespit of ego and competition with everyone and everything.
Incredible voice in the ‘80s let alone now! Huge respect to Green Gartside - good grief we were so lucky to have been born and grown up in the 70’s and 80’s!
Sounds like a special time! My best was riding my biking the streets of Tokyo listening to "Eternity" by Capsule in around 2009. Check it out, you might like it, 80s vibe on steroids!
Didn't pay them much mind in the 80's....my loss still sound exactly the same what a great vocal sound. Green hasn't lost a single note or harmony. Just bought tickets for Nocturn at Blenheim Palace next June 2019. Playing alongside Tears for Fears. Can't wait.
Great live performance. I just watched a video from 1988 where said they don’t perform live. I guess technology has come so far since then. Cupid & Psyche was ahead of its time and this song in particular is a real gem.
Live yes, but a few tapes going on here (guitar and certain keyboards) as i suppose its hard to reproduce the original totally live. So pleased they are out there, one of my all time fave bands.
I met him in Boston . Greenis a very nice guy . He actua lly sings like that . They were good . Wish they would have played more from the Cupid Psyche Album.
Where is their Crowd??? This is nuts!! Louie Beeson should have been touring with them and making their stage sound Absolutely amazing and Outstanding! Rest in Peace, my Lover!
why have you been commenting this on every single live scritti video... green himself has said that the partial falsetto was used in order to create an artificial rnb femininity. however, it ended up becoming the way of singing he found most comfortable and it stuck. it sounds brilliant too - most men's falsetto is a lot breathier and less sweet sounding, along with it being hard to maintain this voice through the years. he is a talented singer nonetheless - so why not let people enjoy a mans singing voice?
notice japanese audience seems to understand landscape on their phones. compare to western audiences. why? Except the iphone guy. is that the issue? the kind of phone you use?
to say that this performance fails to live up to the studio version of Absolute would be charitable... no wonder Scritti never went out on tour back in the day. It would have shattered the mystique. Green's voice is still very good but the rest of it just sounds flat.
I was there. Took a bullet train from Kyoto to see this
That beautiful voice is still exactly the same as it was in the eighties ❤️
I was thinking the same 😀
Bloody hell. I've just looked Green up and he's 64! 64 years old!! I would have knocked 20 years off of that.
Cupid and psyche 85. One of the best albums of the 80s. They just never got the recognition they deserved
Another brilliant 80s classic songs, by the master Green respect xx
I can close my eyes and still see you in the 80s with that voice!! 😉❤️
Totally was not expecting them to sound exactly like they do on their recordings. Rocks!
are you high? The studio recording was a million times better than this.

Would roller skate the streets of NYC listening to Cupid&Psyche '85.... without a doubt, one of the best experiences of my entire life..

@@rhythmdroid I checked out Eternity...and I love it...Thanks
I'm punching holes in the air. So great to see this group still active, they played a large role in my 80's madness.
i think you will find Green Gartside is the only member left of the original 4
This sounds so good . When I saw them perform they didn't do this .I met him and he was so DELIGHTFUL.
To present that voice to the public back in the macho 80's would have been quite brave. It's a beautiful type of semi-falsetto & very original.
That is exactly how I feel about Green Gartside it was genuinely brave for the time - excellent comment my friend 👍

So cool to see Green and Scritti Politti still banging out those classics i grew up with in the 80s. Love it.
fantastic !!
Damn Greene sounds really good--Glad he's out there-so freakin talented
Still looks and sounds fantastic
My all time favourite SP song. Thanks for sharing
Best live clip of this song I've seen. The person running sound nailed it.

There's quite a fair bit of trickery going on
Completely fake band exept for Green's voice....

Complex song to do live.
Awwwww I love Green Gartside xx
Great performance! So glad to see and hear this!
this artist has been a great inspiration to me true my life...thank you for posting this!
bravo,super captation,wish i was there...

i cant help it,green is so handsome
thank you for this,wonderful xxx
Amazing!
Best music Ever

Great song
Superb artist
Thanks, Clarissa!
Absolutely!
Speaks with a normal male voice and pulls off this little child's singing voice. Don't know how he does it lol. Loved this tune
I like bravo Nippon it's friends of Roma ,W il Duce !!!!!
❤❤❤
...how does his voice stay the same!?
absolute.
Same thought exactly.
Coca-Cola ;)
It’s called falsetto. It’s not his real voice.
@@dimi7171 Your comment is moronic.
Here in 2020 12th July
Listen People. The way he is singing, called falsetto. Google it and then you have your answer why he still sounds the same. It’s not his real voice.

Just got tickets to see them with Tears For Fears next year.
Oh wow, that would be my dream concert experience. Where and when is that show playing.
@@dantonkin91 Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire next June.
Shame the drummer in the original video clip was not there as well.
Neither was David Gamson keyboard player.

The singer still sounds about the same as he did decades ago.
The drummer is a bit sloppy on those e-drums (not easy to play). But Green nails it pretty good. Great albums. Love🎸
Where's that bass synth tho?
On tape..
It makes remember when I was skinny...now I'm a 🐷

Its funny...A guy who kept reclouse for so long now playing in a private sushi bar for dollars....i guess being a true artist didnt pay.
It's a very respected, expensive jazz club in the heart of Tokyo though.
