Disappointing and expensive!
We love our little Wltoys 144010 and the team at Rlaarlo asked us to compare their new buggy to it. First though we wanted to do something a little different as all the other reviews were just bashing so we took it carpet racing. It was terrible! There was no steering control at all, It either understeered or oversteered. Don't think we even made a lap of the track!
Next video will be giving it the Talbot test as we did with the Wltoys!

Hi Claire 👋from Ohio , USA . . I see RC is pretty big over in the UK 👍. All us middle aged people getting toys we couldn’t afford when we were kids , lol. It s good times regardless . I hope all is well and everyone’s healthy and happy . Don’t forget the kings and queens poop like the rest of us . My father said when he was a child in Italy he didn’t think the kings and queens 💩. We sure do love in crazy world. The RC community is a good thing . I’ve acquired two Rlaarlo’s , the cf Omni terminator amd the 1/14 brushless truggy is $123 on Amazon which is a steal of a deal . One time I saw the 1/12 desert buggy for sale for $50 on Amazon . 😮🤞. The hbx 16980sa is a good fast one imo. The 1/14 truggy rlaarlo is a little better though , both fun . The cf Omni is heavy for jumps but very well done and smooth driving . My favorite is the Kraton 6s but the neighbors where I live… it’s not neighborly all the time . Once in awhile . Thanks for listening . It’s sunny here and 75 degrees . I hope you have sunshine today and RC sa re flying everywhere in the parks . We don’t have any skateparks or places dedicated or bmx RC cars around here . There’s a nice indoor track at Austintown hobby shop . They come from all over to race on Sundays but I haven’t a track car yet . Not sure what to get yet but I know they all run the same set up like nascar which makes sense .

Ian used to do it 20 odd years ago, crossed paths with kev and vinny. I don’t think it will be a regular thing because it’s a pain to get to after work on a Friday but it’s nice to mix it up
God bless you lovely people because you’re the only ones who could do a bash before an unboxing a race before setting the steering trim and still make a great video. Car sucks though 😂

Unfortunately it didn’t hold up to the skate park test so it’s game over for us!
@@ClairesRCs I only got it to getting that a speed run competition that's the only reason I got at the speed run it and for my two four year old boys it would never hold up to me either but I did get the 63 over 100 so I made it to round too I do believe that's all I got it for thanks for sharing

I for one would only buy the body and wing for my 144001. Mini Typhon lol.
Such a shame it had serious issues out of the box. With a bit of fettling I think it could be a decent little racer but the 144010 that WLToys just released is just better out of the box.

The quirky steering was the 1st thing I noticed about mine. Then I tore it apart and found that it was missing a bearing in the steering rack. Later I made another hole on the servo arm a lil closer to the pivot to slow the steering down a bit. It was a lot better. But adding a DumboRC Gyro & HW ESC made it a lot better. I had planned to stretch it with a wltoys 1/12 chassis, but just ordered the new AM-X12...
When the CF Chassis & longer drivetrain parts are available, I'll convert it.

If its the same 1 i saw it do 40mph on 2s and on 3s it was crazy fast
These cars require more on throttle hard braking to get around. I've been messing with mine for a while and you really gotta be on the brakes hard and off the breaks to apex in short course. It loves big open turns

Don't sweat it Ian I have a buddy that jumps over the railing on his backyard track when we race. Not everyone is a driver lol.
First real racing video with this thing, that I have seen. And it didn't look good at all. Wonder if it is a straight line only car. Haven't seen one overheat like that either. Thanks you two, for showing that this car is a no go on the track. Great video and keep them coming!!
David’s overheated too! But not as quickly as ours. Speed run was a bit tricky too… not sure what it’s intended for, you will see in the next video

Range is horrible. They have sorted out the receiver. They just sent me a new one and arrived yesterday for free. I have not tested it yet. It's definitely built for speed as Rlaarlo is having a speed challenge now world wide. Winner takes 2k usd.

I've seen other reviews and it's been really good,really fast handled OK and wasn't overheating like yours did. I wonder if you had a faulty one
Wasn’t just ours. Hardcores was getting hot too! Not quite as squirrely as ours though
It overheat on 3S and the transmitter/receiver is very bad. Operating range is about 60-70 meters if not Rlaarlo has fixed that now.
Wow Ian´s thumb touches the overheated motor for at least 10 seconds. 😲😄

They have offered to send up spares, so we will try again. Maybe there was something wrong with the servo 🤷♀️ not going to throw too much money into it though, you can get better for cheaper from our 1st impressions

I just bought one of these last week. It's still in the mail. I'm really looking forward to it and then I see this video LOL. Did you figure what caused the steering issues? Jumpy servo? Bad receiver or radio?
Not sure to be honest. It didn’t hold up at the skate park like the wltoys either. Hardcore David’s was slightly better but he upgraded his. They are sending us out parts so we will try again 👍🏼

Why was it such a bad runnner what was causing the bad running
Possibly the receiver, but because it was a combined unit we couldn’t change it out to a dumbo like we did with the wltoys. If they don’t like this review they won’t like the Talbot test 😂

Seems my regular account doesn't show comments on posted videos of yours either. Looks like it needs a decent radio with expo. But as it's combined ESC rec you're starting with it as a roller so $200 doesn't touch the sides not like Ian's laps 🤣.

Well that went well😂 This is the first I've seen of them and overheating and handling like that is never a good start...
I've never heard of one overheating. They definitely get warm but never hit a cutoff or anything with mine and I only run 3s. It doesn't come with the greatest tires, she said so herself.
It wasn’t at thermal cut off but it was way too hot for the lack of laps it made!
All I can say is Ian is a super guy helping Kevin with his monster truck good on you Ian But your wife has no wheel time to complain have fun like Kevin says

We aren’t sure to be honest. It has too much steering. We have since bashed it and it’s not suitable for that either. Unfortunately that will be the end of our testing. Much better out there for a lot less!

If you are after a little buggy go for the wltoys 144010, swap out the receiver and you are away! There’s a video on here, Talbot tested I think it’s called 👍🏼
@@ClairesRCs From the looks of things that buggy seems great! I picked up the brushed version (144001) and its a lot better than their a959 models. I plan on making it brushless soon too
Um I own this car and it drives perfectly fine at my local carpet track, even beating some other buggies by novice drivers.
This is not a good representation, it must be that surface didn’t work well with the cars stock tires or they got a bad example of this vehicle.
My advice turn down the speed just a bit get used to how it drives and turn it up over time.
Some of the comments defending makes me believe the company has issues with quality control some people get real good setup and others have broken parts issues electronic issues slop issues WEIRD was gonna buy my nephew this but idk now seems faulty
I would honestly save your money and go for a wltoys. It’s the same set up and almost 1/2 the price

It's actually a decent buggy... you just got to put a different receiver. A DumboRC makes a world of difference. It's built for speed.

I got mine fot $100 upon release it's definitely worth it for that. But definitely not worth $200

Its a shame that it was a disappointment. I reckon though, a set of carpet tires and a decent servo it could handle quite well, and possibly lower the pinion gear by one tooth.
Except we took it to the skate park and it is no more! Would have given it a second chance had it of been wltoys price but £200 for what is a roller is way too much

It looks good and I like the carbon Fibre parts but performance wise it's awful. Even the EAT-14 is better than that (once the cogging issues are resolved!!)
Not a good start no. Give them those dues though, their communication is excellent! Bigger brands should take note!
@@ClairesRCs hopefully they will listen and improve. I know there was a problem with the throttle trigger on the remote that another channel pointed out and they listened and sorted it then sent him a new controller.

I’ve got a riaario croball and its absolutely class!. I don’t no wtf you’ve done your yours but mine drives lovely. Tbh though, I’m a lot better than you at driving so…who ever watches this video. They are good for racing and having fun. Terrible review of the car. Obviously not that clued up on them
Its too cheap to be a racer. Ive got the wltoys 104001 and thought it can race, but it doesnt. Broke early on and now ive got a Team Losi Racing 22x-4 and its much better, driveable and even more stable than the cheapo. To get to racing rc cars you cant just buy a cheap rc car, a more expensive one will do better (Team associated b74 or tlr 22x-4)
Edit: not to be angry at these cheapos, but theyre just not designed for racing. The wltoys 104001 is just a "toy" copy of the xray xb4. So nothing to be meant negative, everyone does the hobby how he likes it ; )
There were a few at the track and they performed really well. Not sure how stock they were though 🤷♀️ this one was definitely not up to it though
Oh and the overheating problem on 2s: the electronics are just not for racing. I also have the problem with my sensorless brushless combo in the racebuggy, this electrics is just not made for racing, the too much grip is just not for these electronics. I am going sensored and sensored is gonna take the track without overheating
I think wltoys 144001 is better than this rc buggy car.
You tried and the car failed, maybe a different motor, ESC and radio and any other bits you can think of to make it better.
If it has of been cheaper we would have but $200 dollars for what is a roller… nope! We took it to the skate park after… one more video and we are done!
