- More than 1,000 migrants have arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel since Sir Keir Starmer became Prime Minister.
Home Office figures show 427 people made the journey in seven boats on Monday, taking the provisional total for the year so far to 14,759.
International border control expert Henry Bolton joins Talk’s Jeremy Kyle to discuss this further.

Can't asylum applications be dealt with in France? Other countries don't countenance applications unless they've been undertaken outside their borders.
Perhaps very large container ships could be commissioned and positioned in international waters for the purpose of accepting or rejecting claims, rather than the small boats being automatically towed to the UK.

🚩🚩 1185 People on £45 a week allowance without housing costs included which would be triple... so that is £84,825 per week on just allowance! Plus the average Hotel costing £40 per night for 1185 people which is for 7 days £330,400.. so all together for 1 week with these arriving we spend £415,225! Nearly half a million on them PER WEEK just for the last 11 days!! Let that sink in 🚩🚩
I don’t disagree that it is a lot of money and is unsustainable, but not following your calculation of the allowance, 1,185 x £45 is £53,325.

Hardly any good apprenticeships around for young people in Cornwall. My son found one eventually not through anything advertised by the Gov. Pay and train our own young people and give them a future before importing others.
The universities get far more in fees for foreign students than they do for UK ones. My son was in a pharmacy class of 22 and there were only 2 Brits in that class. Australia turned the boats back and solved theyur problem. We have a much smaller area to patrol so we should do the same.

I was in a cafe in my home city that was English before Covic hit....now it is unrecogniseable as an English city and in the cafe I was surrounded by people who couldn't or wouldn't speak English. It is not a tourist town!

Fund raising last week one of the local RNLI told me that their charter means they have to go out and rescue people on the sea, they do it because of the children................no answer to my question about the young men of fighting age they are brining over on the boats that our previous donations have paid for.
