I met Freddie at channel 1 studio in 1978, I was brought there by Junior of the Tamlins Freddie was recording the mr mcgreggor album for Niney he voiced songs like “We got love” and version of the song “ Brandy” among others, whilst voicing these song I recognised his voice as the person who sang a song Coxsone sound system in the Uk used play called “ Im a revolutionist “I was introduced to him and asked him if he had sung the song to which he excitedly said yes and was amazed that the song was popular. I told Freddie that this album he was recording if released the uk will be a number 1 reggae charts hit , I returned from Jamaica excited about this phenomenal singer and couldn’t wait to hear the finished product, I believe the Mr Mcgreggor” album was released in 1979 and was an instant success as predicted, the album was so refreshing it was obviously going to be as impactful as it was.
