I assume there was originally a scripted event where you ramp off the jump really hard with the airboat and hit the ceiling there, but it got cut (perhaps because an airboat breaking concrete makes little sense) and thus the effect was never finished.
Sometimes Barnacles kill themselves trying to eat a prop that is bigger than them. I am not sure why does that happen but you can see it happening randomly in some maps of Episode 2
This is due to the fact that the corpse is a full ragdoll that can collide with NPCs and such. For whatever reason, when Barnacles bite and spit out a ragdoll, it sends it spinning so much that one of the limbs colliding with it is enough to kill it.
5:33 if you try to go back to the guy in the back the roof collapses, and the default material for breakable brushes in the hammer editor is glass. so i think either someone forgot to change the material type or they added that for the glass sound effect during the collapse
I like the idea of gordon refusing requests and everyone being patient at first but at the end alyx seems almost angry, like, "jesus this shit again, just get the gravity gun"
but i thought combine soldiers cant deploy manhacks, only metrocops? isnt the "manhack deploy" attack the metrocop equivalent of the combine soldier's grenade attack?

4:13, this would make for an interesting challenge. Every time a new level loads, you're stripped of your weapons, except for the gravity gun, and have to scavenge for more.
Would be pretty reminiscent of doom/quake, though wouldn’t make much sense as you’d enter a linear loading zone that doesn’t take you out of a level and suddenly have all your weapons vanish… if someone managed to make doom style transitions however, I’d be all for it

The reason that unbreakable things above the car break on crane touch is because all physics objects have the ability to break - some are just unable to by default and do not spawn any particles or fragments. The crane breaks anything beneath it, even things not designed to break, so they will just get removed without debris.
The heck does "load directly into a level" mean? Isn't that exactly what happens when you reach the end of a level - it "directly loads you" into the next map?
Using the console to load the level, because you haven't gone through the previous level it doesn't know certain parameters like what guns or how much ammo you have etc. So the levels have their own default values
