I think it's better to give ADAS as optional, bcoz most of the cars in india are driving through cities than highway, ADAS in city is pointless. If it doesn't need don't get, if it is needed then get it.

Was looking for a new compact SUV towards the end of 2021. Had narrowed it down to two cars. MG Astor 1.3 turbo & VW Taigun GT Plus. The salesperson at MG had made the ADAS feature a big selling point for the car at the time. But the sheer driving pleasure of the VW and a little bit of foresight that Indian transportation system isn't yet ready for ADAS, helped me give Astor a pass despite its very alluring tech features.
There are 2 things to consider. First, being the road infrastructure. Barring major expressways, let alone state highways, even NHs don't have proper lane markings at certain stretches. Either the markings go missing or even worse I've also seen double markings for lanes within a ft or half from each other running parallel! (probably a job redone shoddily). Lane keep assist would simply go bonkers here xD Secondly, even if you get the infrastructure right, there needs to be stricter traffic regulations in place. Bikers often overtake closely from the left and cut right in front of you while doing so. ADAS wouldn't be able to prevent a collision in such cases if driver compromises even a bit of his full-fledged attention from the road (and even a fraction second reaction time can make or break things while driving). Also, not to forget that there are unsuspecting jaywalkers, villagers and stray animals crossing or simply sitting on roads which ADAS won't be able to detect.
I do not want to make this a Taigun v. Astor comment but having driven both the cars then and even in retrospect now, being a driving enthusiast who's more concerned about the driving dynamics of a car, I'm happy that I went with the former. The only safety feature I'd love to borrow from Astor would be the active blind spot monitoring.

The problem is not ADAS or sunroof or whatnot, its the idiots who misuse it , their licence should be suspended.

I would have preferred if the speakers had spoken about which ADAS features cannot work in Indian circumstances and which ones can.

Adas, Sunroof, big screens, fully digital instrument cluster are either useless or gimmick.

In a country where people don’t understand what are sunroofs used for, and use them as though their cars have become convertibles, ADAS toh bahut badi baad hogayi.
What can we expect from our country folks which has close to NO traffic sense.

This is what happens when people are educated fools, and only buy cars for features and misuse them...
