Ode To Joy | Charlie Chaplin | Beethoven | World Peace | Sudarshan | Sapphire | Sounak | Tribute

This video is taken from a live concert dedicated to world peace that was staged on February 2019 in Kolkata. The concert was titled , 'Ode to Joy'. The title itself is derived from the 4th movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th and last symphony. It is a supreme monument of Western classical music and embodies the ideals of fraternity and equality of mankind as perhaps no other in the history of the same.
The music of this symphony forms the background of this video and the foreground is another monument from the world of cinema. It is perhaps the greatest utterance on world peace and democracy in the modern era, penned and pronounced by the one n only Charlie Chaplin, in his legendary creation - The Great Dictator.
Human civilization has always been plagued by prejudice , intolerance and wars. The times we live in are in no way different. So the significance of this concept remains, unfortunately, ever relevant.
It had been a personal dream to unite these two monumental forms of art - the speech and the music together and give it a shape. In this depiction, choreographer Sudarshan Chakravorty and his brilliant dancers do that to perfection. Each movement cries out both the desperation and the earnestness which this it is meant to portray. The speech of Chaplin has been edited in various ways to make it fit in with the music. The parts of the symphony have also been edited to create the scape that I had envisioned.
This piece is not meant to be another example of non cerebral entertainment. It is meant to intrigue, inspire and coax one into thinking. i'm quite sure, it will.
