You did a exceptional job on describing how to operate the snow blower best video showing this I've ever seen so far. I don't think it's possible to do better. You did such a great job and almost seems as though he sell Ariens snowblowers😄👍👍👍👍

Awesome review! It doesn't get any more thorough than this. I will be purchasing this exact blower tomorrow. It'll be a nice upgrade from my 12 year old Murray!
Great video. We have the Deluxe 28 SHO, and found that first gear is too fast in deep conditions or tight corners, unless you buy the weights for the bucket which are insanely expensive. Some people make their own. I read this is common on these machines. I ended up adjusting the shift rod a few threads down below. Really simple. Might make a nice quick little video you could do Brad. Thanks again.
Good looking out Mike. The next time I see that model or your model. I will check speed and if it seems to fast I’ll do a quick video on the adjustment. Thanks for watching, commenting and the heads up on the speed control.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines No problem. Currently in a slight Blizzard in Buffalo NY. Just got back inside and it worked great. Next Sunday it’s supposed to be almost 60° here.
Just bought the deluxe 24 inch from Lowe’s here in Canada. Your video instructions are really helpful. Thank you. One question however, my unit did not come with a dust cover for the electrical plug on the unit. Should it have? Is it an attachment you can buy? Do you really need it?
In my opinion, you do not need a cover. Most snow throwers do not come with a cover. The electric starter and plug are waterproof. There also is no electricity running through the electric starter when it’s not plugged in to your extension cord.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Just curious -- bought a 24" Classic recently here in Canada and there was no cover for the electrical plug unit that attaches to an electrical extension cord for electric start. However you showed one on your video? Comment please.
Purchased my Deluxe 24 back in 2022. I was wondering if there is a square outlet cover that goes over the plug for the electric start. My machine doesn't have one. I think I noticed it in your video.
Some had covers and some do not. They are not needed and normally will not stay on the machine. The male plug is water proof and there is no electricity flowing when the extension cord is not plugged in. You will need to look up the cap a parts look up for the engine to find out if your engine came with it or not and to see if they offer a part number to purchase one.

Thank you for this very informative video , the old caretaker at the Church where I go asked me 2 days ago to help him get their snowblower running and ready for the winter and they have this exact same model ( Mr Pierre is mostly blind now and can't see well enough to operate the machine ) . We got it going well ( finally ) appreciate the tip about not over priming the motor with the push bulb ? / only thing we didn't't check was the engine oil level and you didn't mention if we need to add oil - where do you put it in from ? and what gauge ? or brand of oil to use ? , would very much appreciate a quick reply as it's snowing tonight in Montreal Canada 😳first proper storm of the season , and I may have to go in early to run the blower ? 👍🙏🙏🙏 thanks in advance .
I went over checking the oil at 2:43. You fill the oil where you check it. Only add a little at a time so you do not over fill it. Most likely 5w30 will be ok but check the manual for your location and tempurature. You will also have to wait at least 3 to 5 minutes between adding and checking the oil or you may get an incorrect reading on the dipstick. Please give this video a like and share the channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, you can use at the pump gas any octane is ok. If your snow thrower is going to sit for more than three months without using it. I would suggest, The way to avoid problems in the future with gas going bad inside the carburetor is to make sure you run the machine completely dry and drain the carburetor bowl. If you do not think you will use a lot of gas in the unit? (I know it depends on the weather) but you may want to try, Tru-Fuel. trufuel50.com/4-cycle-mix/. OR what I am now using Aspen Fuel. www.aspenfuels.us/. It is far superior to pump gas and you will not have the issues with gas going bad while storing your machine but do not mix the two (gas station gas with true fuel or aspen) You will not get the benefits from using the better fuel.
Just bought a new 24" deluxe. Haven't tried it in the snow yet, but I noticed when the snowblower is off, I can't push it forward or backward. The wheels are locked, and I can't really move it around my garage. The wheels are moving if I try to turn it to left or right, but it doesn't move if I try to push it straight forward or backward. Not sure if it supposed be like that or its something wrong with my snoblower?
Thanks for your help. I found out what it was. The cord for the drive handle was too tight, and it was pulling the snowblower to drive all the time. Once I loosened up the cord, the wheels were not locked anymore. Thanks
just bought deluxe 24 new the speed is to fast to walk behind. I tried everything according to manual adjustment still to fast in first gear. DO You have any suggestions to slow down. thanks Bill
Great video. I just purchased an Ariens 24 deluxe snowblower. At times the engine will run in high speed and seems out of control. Am I doing something wrong?
When you turn the throttle from fast to slow, does the engine speed slow down? If the engine speed stays the same, my guess is the throttle shaft inside the carburetor may be stuck from gas going bad but you said you bought a new machine. When you purchased the machine, did it have gas in it?
My machine is a touch differe t but almoat the same. Its brand new. Runs a little high in gear seemingling almost like the choke isnt disengaged all the way. Ive made sure the knob is off choke as much as possible. Any suggestion?
Not sure what your trying to tell me?? “Runs a little high in gear”?? The choke is only used to start the engine. It has nothing to do with how fast the engine is running. If you think the engine is running to fast? You say it’s a brand new machine? How long have you owned it regardless of “it’s brand new”. If the machine has sat with fuel in it for over 3 months. The fuel could have gone bad in the carburetor leading up to the throttle rod inside to stick wide open so the machine is now running too fast. If this doesn’t help you, I would need to see the machine. Almost impossible to diagnose without up close look at. Let me know how you make out.
@Johnson's Small Engines thanks for the response. It just spounds super loud like its working hard. High rpms. Brand new and sat for a week tops. Im bringing it in. No worries

Bob I just bought an Ariens Classic 24 and it doesn't have the throttle feature...the engine runs too fast at all times. Can the throttle feature be added by a snowblower mechanic or can my fast running machine be adjusted to run at a slower engine speed? Thanks for any advice.
Unfortunately your machine as you know does not have a slow speed/throttle or even anyway of slowing the speed down. (other than you should be able to adjust the governor) You think it is running to fast? For you to find out how fast it is going, (max RPMs should not exceed 3600) you will need to find a tool called a small engine tachometer like this. amzn.to/3XYf8iy. This is what I use but it is expensive and I would not purchase it just for one time use. I just want you to see what is needed. You can purchase cheaper ones but maybe you can find a friend or a local small engine mechanic that would check the engine speed for you. I do not know of any way to install a throttle to slow it down but if the machine is running over 3600rpms then it does need to be adjusted down. You can adjust the high speed but I have not had to on that engine so I do not have a video on that issue yet.
Excuse me, I just could not turn the key by any way! Could anybody please give me instruction to turn on the key switch? I think the key switch enable and disable the ignition system.
Normally you can just take the choke off, put throttle at full and use the electric starter for up to 5seconds at a time but give the starter some kinda of cool down time in between. You do not want to burn the starter up. If that doesn’t work with in a few try’s, then you can let sit overnight and try another day. If that doesn’t work then your machine has other issues.
Thanks for providing clear information, which the manufacturer Arians sure as hell doesn't. Think about how bad it is that the markings are so bad on the snowblower that the first instruction in this video is to take a magic marker to make them clear. And to think I bought this brand because of that "Made with Pride in the USA." Label. They don't have much to be proud of in this case.
My dear son bought me the same snow blower. You can't imagine how much your video helped me. Many thanks man and God bless you ❤

To correctly start the machine (if it has not run in a few hours) you use the choke as described in the video. It doesn’t matter the temperature.
