We are going to use different workbooks for math and language (mostly Evan Moor) we do a lot of reading and documentaries also unit studies that I am creating for her and her little brother. You are such an inspiration!!! We have been doing the night basket and they love it thank you for your ideas😃can’t wait to see traveling around the world.

My kiddo is starting 2nd grade this year. We are sticking with our morning basket hymn, bible reading, artis, and classic book. We are moving on from My Father's World to Gather Round and Five in a Row, which should be less time and more all around learning or subjects, as we will also be doing more student directed learning. I am trying to simplify with children that a 7,4, and 8 months, not keep getting more, but its so hard when there are so many amazing curriculums out there. I saw an adorable one on The Hundred Acre Woods yesterday!

Thank you for sharing your plans for this school year. I ordered the What Your Second Grader Needs to Know and the one for Fifth grade for my two kids. Your videos are so helpful and my son loved your Who Was George Washington unit study. We used it as part of his first grade social studies curriculum. I also ordered The Tuttle Twins series so I'm definitely interested in how that goes for you and Emily. I haven't figured out how to fit them into our schedule...I may start out just as family read alouds and see if they get interested enough to dive deeper. I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos!

This was such a helpful video! We have some similar things planned, it’s nice to know someone else is reading Sassafras’s Adventures without the additional parts. I love how you follow your daughter’s interests, I find myself at times getting caught up in curriculums, but they never go over well, and I have to remind myself to just follow my kid’s lead.

I just found your channel and I feel like I "found my people". I'm a covid homeschooler with an only child 3rd grade daughter. While homeschooling was accidental for me, I don't feel upset about it because the idea was always appealing to me (though i do wish circumstances to get here were better!). I get most of my ideas from you! We have enjoyed your Traveling the Parks this summer. Looking forward to Traveling the World! I have a third grade daughter this year too (and a 1st grader and 6th grader---both boys). We'll be using The Good and the Beautiful for her LA and Math. History and Science will be kind of hodge-podgy with some TGATB units mixed in with other topics of interest. We're also going to do All About Spelling as a group since her older brother struggles with spelling and her younger brother is just getting started, so I figured we could all start at the beginning with everyone together. Since it's only our second year of homeschooling, I still feel a little overwhelmed with all of the possibilities, but my "one thing" for this year is to incorporate a morning basket. I appreciate so much all of your ideas on morning basket themes!

I love that you are letting her take the path on subjects. When I was in elementary school we had are regular English math subjects but then a unit study, you don't realize how much you are actually learning. I'm horrible at spelling but was already learning about doing research and interesting things with real math science and math directly mixed in. This helped in middle school because are English and social studies do a joint project every semester where we had to research things and write a full 5 paragraph essay. Then in 8th grade English worked with science, we had a science fair, but it wasn't just doing an experiment, it was learning how to write up the experiment in the proper way with then sitting sources. High school continued like that but I went to an ultra orthodox all girls high school do I had dual education my entire school life. But they tied things together where we ended up producing a unit study all written up and sorced the correct way with the reasrch coming from the Torah and other things but put together in the presentation mode. Science and math worked close together sometimes and with history and literature it was always on the same topic like Greek literature and Greek history. I was very fortunate and in 12th grade they brought in community College teachers and we took actual college courses that counted for both. When I got to college first I got to skip most of the intro classes which worked much better than a.p. credits. But people had some much trouble figuring out how to research, how to write papers and even how to present topics. Do i use my college degree no, but learning with everything put together is how the real world works. Yes you need the core things but you also have to nurture intrests because the kids don't realize how much they are actually learning. I wish I could home school but I'm a single foster mom who works full-time at home and had an in house babysitter before the virus so I could work. I did buy a ton of the books and games you mentioned to supplement but I never know when they are going to leave my home, reunification is the best, though one of the kids is looking more like an adoption case. Outschool has saved my life and depending on what school is for this coming year it might be 2 days a week in school and the other online I have been looking into hiring someone to supplement their education.it will keep them busy letting me work but also letting them learn. Even if I adopted i doubt I would go the home school way just because of the nature of my job. We do tons of read a louds and crafting things. I'm loving the kiwi company subscription boxes. You are setting her up for a great future

We wont be adding much the first 2 quarters of homeschool because we have to finish what we have but I'm super excited for all the new read alouds we have and a few games! I love this time of the year!

Wow!!! I just stumbled upon your channel (thank you universe 🙏🏼). I too have a third grader and we are interest led/child led here as well. It’s so fun to see your enthusiasm 😊. This will be my second year homeschooling and I put soooooo much time into researching curriculums to make this year go better for us. I’m excited about a curriculum called Lightning Literature... it should incorporate most language arts except for spelling so YAY!!

Hi, Jessica! We homeschool very similarly, and I love watching your channel and getting ideas. You've definitely inspired me this year to dig into our game collection (and add QUITE a bit!) and get into gameschooling. It's one of our favorite things- takes loads of pressure off and we're still learning! My oldest is in 3rd grade and we've decided to go with Brave Writer (Dart) and Math-U-See this year. We'll use a variety of books for learning early American History, geography, and science. We also enjoy Evan Moor workbooks. I have my eye on your National Parks curriculum for the Spring!

We are excited to be using your National Parks unit for geography this year. But I can't wait to see inside the Around the World!

I am a sucker for curriculum videos! I love seeing what other people use. It helps me know what all is out there!
I have one 1st grade daughter. We are using Sonlight History/Bible/Lit B, their Science A and their Language Arts 1. We also will move on to All About Reading 3 and 4 and All About Spelling 1-3 probably this year. Depends on how quickly we get through things. We use Math-U-See Alpha, A Reason for Handwriting, Explode the Code, My Story 1 (Masterbooks), and Starter Spanish (Carson Dellosa). I also just purchased Yellow Spot: Sun Color Theory so we'll see how that goes! It'll definitely be a busy year!
I am very interested in seeing more of your new curriculum. I already have my eye on your Magic Treehouse stuff. If it came in smaller bundles I'd be all over it, but I don't know yet if my daughter even likes them yet. We just got 1-4 for her birthday in June! 😊 If she does...well then you know where I'll be headed! ♥️

Love this-thanks for all of your inspiration Jessica! We’re using Sonlight for pre-school & pre-k, then next year will be back to using The Good and The Beautiful for pre-school year 2 & kindergarten!

Great giveaway! You have so many fun things in your shop! I have a 4th grade and we use a mixture of things. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get to some of the fun things more, so I think we will implement the fun/enrichment day!!
