I could not understand why all of a sudden the phone display on my 2012 Jetta Highline stopped showing up and only the sound system was getting muted. I was already thinking that I would have to choose between not having a hands-free phone system or having to pay a few hundred dollars at my dealership to have it fixed. This worked beautifully! This worked like s charm as my 2014 VW Passat's Bluetooth wasn't working. After watching video, took less than 5 minutes. Thanks for allowing me to avoid the headache of scheduling a visit to the dealership.
Followup note 2024. In a Skoda Superb MY2011 (Australia) the relevant box is on the floor, bolted to the floor, under the driver seat (RIGHT SIDE). Just remove the plastic cover (which may be a little difficult until you see how it works). No need to unbolt the box. The clip looks and works the same. I did this with the ignition OFF. After making certain there was no dirt/rubbish in the connector and then doing the connection I let the system "think" for some time (ignition OFF). At the same time I wiped any previous bluetooth pair from my mobile. THEN later - Ignition ON and select phone in the MFD (display in front of the steering wheel). Should say there is no connection and ask to find a phone. Just follow the prompts and watch for the prompt on your phone for the code to enter there. It worked! I suspect some of the secret is the old IT trick - turn it off - WAIT - turn it on. Where WAIT might need to be a while.

Oh my god this fixed my issue thanks so much!!! Started my car up this morning and the phone option wasn't working, was simply switching volume off instead, looking for the HUD there was no phone option, like you've just shown in the video. Did a little digging to find out it was the bluetooth module and not the RNS 315, then found your youtube video. Just tried it out and....IT WORKED!!! Saved me loads of hassle thanks very much!
Thanks, it worked for me. Just a note that the box is under the driver's seat on right hand drive cars. Also, I needed to disconnect the box, switch the ignition back on then off, then reconnect the box before it would work for me.

Perhaps worth calling your dealer to see if they know? I didn't bother, as My car is a 2011 Jetta sel, tested Bluetooth on multiple other devices and works in all capacities 100% so it is Def the stereo. Really disappointing but not about to drop any money into a ten year old car radio, will load up some tunes on an SD card and call it a day.
Thanks so much, nothing in the manual and I was worried I had messed something up, I found the black box under the drivers seat the day we got the car (2012 mk6GTi) and wondered what it was. I was getting worried as the Bluetooth menu had been showing but suddenly it was gone. All good now thanks again,
I don't know how it worked but it still worked. Passat B8 (2018) has a camera control unit under passenger seat. Nothing related to BT. But it has kinda the same connector so I tried and it did the job. Crazy...

@@theotakubratt3594 you can reach on the side where connector is and disconnect the same in video. Just be careful pulling connector out if possible grab connector not wires if you have to use wires unlock connector first then wiggle left and right softly until it starts to pull away

You are doing it with ignition on or off? Stupid question but I have an issue in my VW T5. BT says: "connecting to Xiaomi..." which is not present and there is no way to disable this mallfunction. I've tried to reset module by disconnecting an ACU for a while. Nothing changed.

Hi, I have the same problem that you mentioned in your video, except that when I do what you did, it actually fixes itself for about 2 minutes and then it does the same thing again. I have already reset the stereo as well and nothing, it only connects for a few minutes and then stops playing again.
I followed your advice. It has generated an airbag fault reading and didn’t fix the Bluetooth. I’ve read the comments, seen that I need to do this beneath the driver’s right hand seat. Bluetooth problem fixed. Thank you. BIG QUESTIONS - are the airbags fine? How do I remove the airbag fault reading please??
What about if the phone is already paired but you don't have control to switch tracks via Bluetooth on your steering wheel? The only way I can switch tracks is going into my phone and physically for wearing to the next track

Hi Jay, I have a 2014 VW Jetta TDI and all of a sudden my BT disappeared from the radio. Even if I go to the menu and activate BT On it doesn’t show. What is curious though is that my phone is still connected to the vehicle and I can answer and make phone calls from the vehicle BT system. Browns Boys TV yes. It doesn’t even give me the option in my menu to connect phone. Also, the phone button on steering wheel no longer works. It all worked great, until I had them replace the fuse that controls my horn.

Is it possible on a VW Jetta 2011 1.6 TDI almost full option (missing the heated seats) with NAV module RNS 315 (or 310 I`m not that sure yet, I`ll check it tomorrow) to not have the bluetooth module? So I tried this on a 2013 VW Tiguan and it didn't reset the Bluetooth module. My issue is that it's stuck on trying to connect to a phone that no longer exists. It even fails when I try connecting any other paired phone in my hand. Can't delete the old phone either. Any other way to reset the whole thing?

Curious if this will work for my current issue. I have a 2014 beetle. Most of the time the bluetooth works fine. Every so often the bluetooth will drop, and I'll get a screeching sound. It then disconnects for about a minute, then reconnects on it's own. And it will be fine again for days. Then wash, rinse, repeat. I'm gonna try this.. crossing fingers!
@@vikings912 When I press the Phone button on the radio module it just mutes the volume instead of opening the media control. The Bluetooth menu is greyed out and cannot be opened at all. Did you have this issue?

My 2014 Beetle wouldn’t utilize microphone for phone calls. This fixed it!
My 2013 beetle keeps being stuck on BT audio but nothing plays. This didn't work either :(

Dealing with same thing on a friend's car. Likely a bad module. Need to check power and ground and maybe can-bus wires.
Should we do this with the key cycled in the on position ? Does this work for Vortex radios ?

@@vikings912 When I press the Phone button on the radio module it just mutes the volume instead of opening the media control. The Bluetooth menu is greyed out and cannot be opened at all. Did you have this issue?

Hello everyone, about that issue, I would like to ask if you are sure of that every vw has in the same place that Bluetooth Module..., because in my 2010 VW Passat 2.0 - 4motion, I can't find it..., at least it isn't under the passenger seat. Please tell me where I can look for it...

have you solved this problem? In my Passat there is also no such module under the seat, but the settings in the radio and the equipment of the car indicate that there should be such a module
My phone set up options are dark, I was told at the dealership that my module must be out. Any suggestions? I’d love to get some feedback!

Do you reset the module when the ignition is ON?I can't seem to connect any phone to my bluetooth module in my 2011 VW Golf. It worked with the previous owner's phone. Very annoying! I hope a reset will do the trick :)
Turn the ignition off beforehand or do it with the ignition on?
