The Garrett rant and the explosion into 'Lucky! Country!' is about as good as live music gets. The power of it gives me the chills every time.

      It's earth shattering isn't it

The rant would be better with actual words though, like on the album (and the more recent live show).

Doesn't get any better than this.... Still in awe of the Oils Power, when playing live.. Even better with Giffo on Bass... At their peak..... Untouchable !!!!

Giffo had an aggressive approach to the bass absolutely mastered it 💪💪💪

Nearly forty years ago.I was there and Instill remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing in line as the lights blazed on and I screamed the words like all the others around me and we were one.

Yes Giffo is a legend and the best bass player the Oils had. Bear was technically great and Bones (may he rest in peace 😥) was a solid player and great singer, but Giffo tore the stage up on a nightly basis.

(I wrote this same response above but it still applies) The production wasn't great on PWAP which is why they brought in Nick Launay on 10-1 and it sounds like it does. Having said that it's still my favourite Oils album and I wonder what it would be like if they re-recorded it with modern production values. Not sure that would be a good idea but I like the thought of it.

As much as I love Bones. Giffo is still the man for me. Raw, in your face Bass, but that was the OILS music at the time. Wish Giffo came back for this last tour. How awesome would that have been?

just drove from London to Manchester Sun afternoon and back same day to see their first UK 2019 gig this week. shattered but wont miss an oils gig in Uk. Brixton tomorrow. Superb as usual, but these early Oil gigs - the live versions are so much more edgy and fuelled than the studio - kosiusko , no times for games , picture ... to think I had my mate return from oz in 84 and that TDK cassette ,, told me if i liked men and work i would love these guys... rest is history and meeting him in 1997 in a Sydney takeaway where he waited for me to rush home and get my mates camera (days before mobiles !) .. you folks are in for a treat and they played Hercules ... almost 37 years of tracks to choose from

    No conversation as you go
There's so much space the heat moves you
Terracotta homes, backyard barbeque and eucalyptus smell
It's fine on the clothes line
It's fast food and slow life and red roof
    My silence, comic interruptions
Surely there's some relief from atomic art
And the fragile state of world events
With clowns who love the kings and power and the mutant media babes
Wanking on dreams and fashions and toilet paper flowers
Don't talk to me in this backyard - it's clandestine, it's nuclear
Smell of space and now forever I want to go
Straight down the exit eight mile attraction
you-turn is up and the time clock sings lets go
    Lucky country
at about 2 x speed by Peter, fuck yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
