Very enjoyable tutorial! Dad takes the time to touch on the little details that really help you to understand the process.. and his daughter does most of the work. She's a natural mechanic! Thank you both!
Nice to see the father daughter teamwork. Warms the heart. Hopefully my twelve year old daughter will be as happy to help if ever the time arises to do such a task.
Thank you so much for this video. It was very helpful and easy to follow. I inherited my blazer from my pop. When he found out he was sick he started teaching me all kinds of stuff like this. This was something we didn't get to before he passed. The way you talk and teach reminds me a lot of him. So thank you for letting me feel like I was working with him one more time.
I am very honored to be the one that helped you figure out the Trailblazer light replacement. I love that this helped you recall fond memories of your father. He would be proud of you for taking the time to write this fantastic comment. I love helping people, and I love when people hold their family as a highest level of priority in their life. Thank you.
This is going to help my husband so much.He just came in the house and said , I don't know how to take it all apart.I said let's go to you tube.He did not think There would be anything there about it .THANK YOU.LISA FROM EAST CENTRAL OHIO
6:04 "Now, take the wire off." She does it telekinetically. Amazing! I have a 2006 Trailblazer LT. My trim package, the grill doesn't go in front of the headlights, so you don't have to remove the grill. Just pop the two clips up on the headlight unit and it comes out. Good job here. Great teaching moment.
As a father of two daughters I have to say daughters are AWESOME !!!. I have relatives that have sons and now days it seems you cant get boys to do anything, let alone do it correctly or actually show interest in learning to do things for themselves. Great job Kate.... don't forget to tell your dad you appreciate him, you have a good one there.
FANTASTIC! I love when I can help someone who helps themselves. Changing headlights in cars is no longer an easy task, but you did it. I am proud of you.
Wish my father was here to have taught me how to work on cars. Great video!! Thank you, have to change mine out too! Did Interior and plate yesterday. On.. to the exterior..🤦🏾♀️!
Thank you so much for the kind encouragement. It is rewarding when you take a risk to attempt to work on car repairs and learn new skills. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, that will help me replace my headlight. It's especially helpful to know which way to pry those clips and which way to turn the light to remove and replace it. Not always obvious to a old lady who doesn't work on cars much.
Thanks to everyone for the tips. I just changed the same bulb on a 2004 Trailblazer by just reaching behind the headlight assembly. Didn't have to remove the grill, battery, or anything. I used a very short screwdriver to loosen the round rubber cover behind the bulb, and I did put on gloves to handle the new bulb. All they had at the store was a twin pack, so I've already got the replacement when the passenger side bulb burns out.
Awesome video!!! Only thing I'd add is to always replace headlight bulbs in pairs. When one side burns out and you replace the bulb the stronger element will sent the current (electricity) to the other side because it has less resistance so if you don't replace both bulbs then the other bulb will burn out very fast afterwards
You can also reach in from the inside and take the cover off and change the bulb without removing the grill. Tight reach but doable. Thanks for showing this method because I am looking to replace the entire headlight assembly because of the "yellow" aging. I was wondering how the grill came off. It is great to see what a good relationship you have with each other.
Thank you so much for this video! It helped so much. (On a bit of a sappy side note, but one more important: it's encouraging to feel the awesome father/daughter interaction & one of positivity. That's so special to see, & albeit likely unintentional, thank you for showing that too!) On reading the comments, I decided to try replacing mine without taking the grill off, and it happened to work for me. HOWEVER, the ONLY reason it did work for me, is because I had seen/heard how it all fit together, which way it turned, snapped into place, etc because of this video & instruction you gave your daughter. I also appreciate the "words of caution". These things are very simple, but only intuitive to those who have been exposed to it over time (e.g. having an idea how it fits together without taking it all apart in order to see it). Thanks again!
I wish I had my dad to help me but I'm about to try to fix my blinker myself my Trail Blazers the same color as hers to your a fantastic father great job great job daughter
very informative. thank you for educating me. i have a 2003 chevy trailblazer. now i know how to not only change the headlights..but also the high beam bulbs..directional bulbs and marker bulb.
I hit a deer!! Going right now to replace my grill! Love my Chevy Trailblazer! Hit it going 40, only cracked my grill! Thanks for the lesson on grill removal!
I am glad that you are ok. I hit a deer a few years ago and it is scary but thankfully everyone was ok. Parts can be ordered and installed for a lot less than paying a body shop.
Thank you so much for this video. I just successfully changed my headlight all by myself. :-) I convinced myself that instead of paying someone to do it or waiting for someone to do it that I should do it myself. If they have functioning hands then I have functioning hands and I can do it as well. :-) thank you again. Great video as well
Being a crew served weapons instructor in the Air Force and a female it’s nice to see other women doing things instead of standing around like a female who can’t (or won’t) learn 😉. We can do almost everything a boy can do and have a baby on top of that! 😁
Mine just went out on that side. Reached in took the boot off and replaced bulb..1 minute one hand. No need to take grill off for that side. Other side might be different. Thanks for video. Helped alot.
I love the Trailblazer. It is an awesome vehicle and I know many other people love this Chevy as well, but that light is really not easy to fix unless a video like this helps people see how to do it. I am very happy this video helped you too. It saves us all a lot of money.
BRO, thank you SO much. I watched and prepared for a while ready to change these bulbs. I don't know whybI was so nervous as I am not a mechanic in any means. I did it and now I'm just sitting in my Trailblazer with the headlights on being proud of myself. Do mechanics feel like this all the time?
Actually, the outside light is both the low beam headlight and the driving light. During the day the lights are only powered at about 70% of the voltage when compared to the full 12V that is sent to the bulb after dark. The inside bulbs are the high beams. Great video, though. I put LED bulbs in mine because they're a little brighter and they last so much longer. The cops in my town pull people over for burned out bulbs so I went LED for all bulbs, front and back, to avoid the hassle. 👍
The other bulb is actually the high beam bulb not a daytime driving bulb.... The low beam and the daytime running bulb is the same bulb... I have a trailblazer myself and looked into this... other than that great video guys!
2 things 1) Never allow your skin contact the glass part of the new bulb. Kate used gloves but you didn't say why. 2) If you don't replace both bulbs at the same time you will be pulling the grill out to be replacing the other one very soon.
Just burned out a light on my 04 t'blazer...a first one and only 99k miles...this'll save me a ton o' time and $100...think I'll remember these 28 steps next time??NAAAAH!! Oh yeah....thanks, DAD!!
Hello, has it happened to you that you are driving and you pass through an irregular road and you hear that the driver's door moves when passing through irregular roads, do you know what it could be?
After watching this 12 minuet video, I had lunch then went out to change the bulb, even with me taking the grill off as shown in the video here it took me less than 10 minuets. Not difficult at all, grill came off rather easily. I will admit that after doing it I had thought it might be possible to do it without taking off the grill, however with the grill coming off so easy it was no big deal and gives much more room to work in for replacing the bulb. The driver side was the one burned out but when replacing the passenger side one I found the boot cap was missing, now I just need to find out where I can get a replacement boot cap. Any suggestions on this would be grateful. Great video, really enjoyed watching and was very informative.
Hey while you had the grill off you should haves cleaned that condenser. I bet the ac doesn’t blow cold at idle when driving. That’s why. Clean that condenser and I bet you get nice cold ac. Also the temp won’t rise when your stuck in traffic
FROSTY Life I forgot to tell you be careful what cleaner you use. There are acids in some degreasers that will eat the aluminum. They have cleaners meant just for condensers They are pretty cheap or you can use soapy water maybe gently shop vac first. I know this because I have a 2004 Trailblazer and my ac wasn’t blowing cold at idle or when stuck in traffic also the temp would rise when idled. Cleaned the condenser and problem solved
+Frosty Life Without it,I Would be clueless. If you ever have to change the Control arm bushings, do an oil Change, or have the airbag light come on, please record it! l0l
It's a damn disgrace to have to go through this much BS just to change a headlight bulb on an American vehicle! Who ever designed this ought to have it stuck in sideways and broken off!
you dont have to do this , you can just reach in there and take off the rubber cover and twist out the bulb unhook the harness and then put the new bulb in then hook the harness and then twist it back in then replace the rubber cap. took me under a minute.
FYI: I am on Trailblazer number 3 and have never had to take out the grill or bulb housing to replace a bulb. I have changed all them from the back side. While this makes it easier it is not required. I do most of my own work and help others on gmtnation.com, offroadtb.com, trailvoy.com and some Facebook pages for the GMT360 platform.
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you figure out your headlight replacement. There sure are a lot of parts to remove on the Chevy Trailblazer.

I agree, of all the cars I have ever owned, this one is the hardest one to simply change a lightbulb. Chevrolet crooks, making people pay $80 an hour shop rate at dealerships...or they can just watch my video.
Well done. Loved the video. Love seeing Dad and daughter spend quality time together. Thanks.

As a mom of a teenager I had to to replace this headlight. Step by step with cautions made it a piece of cake. Thank you for the lesson.
I am so happy this helped you. Now you have the power, and hopefully your teen thinks you are awesome.
Thank you so much for this video. It was very helpful and easy to follow.

not on this car, we cannot do it that way
Very clear and instructional, though a little sappy. A thumbs up.
Hi there! Thanks for your clear explanation. You have now a new fan from Caracas, Venezuela!
I love the Trailblazer. It is an awesome vehicle and I know many other people love this Chevy as well, but that light is really not easy to fix unless a video like this helps people see how to do it. I am very happy this video helped you too. It saves us all a lot of money.

Saludos!!! Los tornillos quitados al comienzo no hacía falta tocarlos!!. Cierto?. Dónde se consigue en USA esa parrilla?. Gracias de antemano!!

I love when my efforts to figure out this headlight method for the Chevy Trailblazer can help other people.

Hello, has it happened to you that you are driving and you pass through an irregular road and you hear that the driver's door moves when passing through irregular roads, do you know what it could be?
Your auto mechanic can make an adjustment to make the door close tighter. Hopefully that is all that is needed.

Yes, very tight squeeze for sure.
