Agree. Nothing worse than an uneducated plug trying to sound intelligent... mixed metaphors and completely new words altogether. Stick to what you're the best at Biz
This long segment of "Willy Gets Paid" is actually the best discussion and debate I've ever heard from a Leafs fan in my entire life. Biz and Whit are pulling ACES.
I texted a few people saying they had a great talk about the signing, the leafs, and the players speaking up about the future of the cap. Open the comments and this is the first thing I see, nailed it
@@NEWFEEDS No joke, man! I give Leafs fans hell for delusional takes, but Biz has been so well thought out and just keeps getting better the more he works on his craft. Truly good for the sport, a great personality, a real person, and delivers the goods that will hopefully get people thinking for themselves rather than regurgitating what others say. The NHL needs personalities back in the league. They've been so subdued for the last decade- likely a product of Gary Bett's circus, but this pod is literally bringing it back singlehandedly.
So well thoughtout?? I love biz for what he is, but a lot of it was repetitive incoherent nonsense. He mixes metaphors, makes up new words... His talent lies in being himself. The reason he gets so tongue twisted is he's trying to be someone he's not. He's not that analyst guy, and he never will be. He has other unique talents that he should stick too
@@handlebackwithindays "should stick to"* Fixed it for you :) Don't act like others are inferior when your ability to sculpt legible sentences is questionable at best.
Thought it was interesting how he subtly drew RA back into the conversation by addressing him directly after the guys were lightly teasing him about the tees.
D’accord was a great guest, very eloquent and diverged a little from the bro-fest the player interviews become sometimes . Also holy shit at the Cousins segment I was fucking dying listening to them roast him
In 7 years Philly will still be booing cutter. Biz is gonna call the fans out on TNT telling them to get over it. Bobby Clarke will get into a twitter beef with biz, time is a flat circle, it is destiny.
Absolutely true - and when you think about it why in the hell would a talented young player ever want to go to the flyers. For the past 25 years or so there are few more dysfunctional organizations. So much political infighting among the former players /execs. The Clarke, Barber, Holmgren cabal always working behind the scenes. If you step back and look at all the messy incidents that have gone on in that organization basically ever since Lindros era - Why would any young player want to be there. If you start doing a little homework and think about all the messy, messy events I could not think of any worse place to be. I mean I know they have a extremely loyal fanbase and if they like you there - they love you for life but still the percentages are really not good for a player with talent developing in that environment.
Indiana here, hockey is growing here and this year alone I’ve heard people talk Bedard and the speed of the game that I haven’t heard speak a word of hockey in 20 years of knowing them and we talk all other sports.
Why do people point to Marchand as a shining example of someone taking less to help the team? He signed the deal on Sep. 26, 2016 coming off of 61 and 42 point seasons, his production exploded AFTER the contract was signed.. Stop comparing that to today's contracts.
Hey Biz, they keep switching the masseuse cause they’re waiting for you to ask for a rub and tug from the right one, they probably think you’re being picky.
Come on - it's not even close Canadiens - in terms of championships in history - the Yankees and Canadiens are almost identical - they are both right around 25 no other teams are anywhere near close. Biz is a little too young for this but if you are my age and remember the original 6 league - then the leafs are the english version of the Canadiens in Canada
I just came back from gym here in Thailand. I have to walk past about 50 thai massage parlors to get to the gym..eat your heart Biz.. headed to gym and left UA-cam on Joe Rogan talking vaccines to RFK Jr, walk back home past the Thai massage girls, open the doror, and its BIZ talking Thai massage..don't know what kind of algorithm does that but can confirm both are dangerous medicine.
Bruins fan here. Leafs keep doing what they’re doing is good for Boston. Hard to balance a team and fix the goaltending in Toronto when they give 2/3s the cap to 5 guys. Next year will be brutal but Biz is right in a sense that the big 3 contracts may age well years out. Toronto needs the Bergeron philosophy. Stay crazy Leafs…GO Bs!
Mad props to Brunelli for the framed Pastosa Ravioli box. My everyday store is Richmond Ave. But when I need a specality item Richmond Road is where it's at!
Would love to see a blue. I know that it has nothing to do with anything y’all talked about in the episode. But a lot of characters that are never shown in the media. Would love it but will be watching regardless. Love it boys.
I’m with G, there’s 300 ncaa schools that play D1 basketball. There’s 60 d1 hockey schools that’s all. I had buddies in college at Indiana University that played on the club team and I think sanctioning it would have a big boost on student attendance. Helped found the club golf team at IU actually myself lol
Why did Whit preface the Daccord interview like it would've been a little boring, or at least different from the norm of the standard chiclet guest? Joey is a fucking incredible dude, thoughtful kind and doesn't take being in the show for granted. Rooting for this guy
@3:38:19 Whit is reading Denis Gauthier’s stats. That’s not Cutter’s dad. That would be Sean Gauthier, who never played for the Flyers, and is not even related to Denis
Team USA success could be attributed to the ADM USA Hockey introduced in 2009-10, when this group was first learning to play. Focus is on skill development, small area games and maximizing ice time. The kids get way more touches, are constantly moving and they have way more fun.
The players need to be pushing for a slice of equity in ownership of the franchises. That way their incentives are alligned with the owners, they care more about growing the game, and franchise value growth will help both current players, retired players, and the main ownership
Whit we need you back here In Edmonton cheering the Oilers on dude. Hey I was extremely pissy just like you bud I was even ripping on Skinner to lol. There a train rolling and what's awesome is Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton are rolling
Feel for Whit. I’ve had my basement flood a few times. Storm water and sewage. But it’s an entirely different story when you yourself have to repair/replace the drywall, flooring, baseboards, etc…it’s a minor inconvenience by comparison when you have the means to call professionals in to do all of that for you.
When Whit countered and said that “the middle ground is going away”. Bizs franchise tag idea would help, 25+ mill to that “guy” and it doesn’t count against the cap. So in return the middle/bottom guys get more.
The NBA always has had that -" the Larry Bird exception" that a team could keep a franchise player from beginning to end if they want to. The NHL should do something like that too.
Think Whit and Biz are too pie in the sky about the future of the nhl revenue and franchise values. Think we're at an economic downturn, and people are tightening the belt a bit more, and the younger gen aren't watching full games. I was at a whl game this year with like 200 people if that in actual attendance (cost $150 for 2 tix, drinks foods, parking). I love hockey but it isn't basketball in terms of popularity and the money train isn't coming.
Hard to listen to the salary talk during the Willy portion of the pod. Being a dude that works outside, breathing block dust, lifting big weight, sweating and freezing depending on the season, and putting in 55 to 60 hours a week, just to take home 65k, it's pretty fucking tough. Griping about 10 mil a year instead of 11.5 mil a year. Oh my aching back! Real world problems. Before anyone tells me that these players busted their asses to get where they are. I get it. But so did I. The closest I'll get to a famous NHL player is building walls and patios at one of their houses. 😁
Joey seems like such a nice genuine guy, I am glad he is playing well and I hope he continues to succeed.
