So inspiring! I'm a professional designer who wants to start a fashion blog as a hobby but I get nervous about photographing and posting my outfits. I appreciate your encouragement to own the craft & not being afraid to share what you do!
Don't let fear stop you! As soon as you rip the bandaid off and begin, the fear will dissipate and you think, "why did I wait so long to-do this?" xo
Dear Christie, After having taken your course I can honestly say you are the best teacher I have ever had. It opened my eyes more to what I actually wanted to do with myself than to being a personal stylist even though you gave us all the necessary information and more. Since then every video from you is like gold because I can see even more how your training works. I just finished hot gluing a pair of sandals that are truely my style but the straps broke, staying true to my goals of being environmentally and economically friendly I learned I could safely fix them so not to get rid of them - it just shows more the personality style that is me and you opened my eyes to. Great video. Confidence shone through all your points. I will be re-doing my closet soon and plan to get rid of half my stuff to our local women’s shelter. I am a bit of a handbag/shoe buff so this will be a little more difficult.
Dress for success would be a very worthy place to gift handbags! Best of luck in your closet re-do!

Love your comments about a stylist profession (skill, talent) is not about “going to the mall”, it’s not a hobby, and it requires training and ongoing professional development.. Similar in my profession as a “trained and certified” coach. So many people do not understand what coaching is and hence,, the value because so many think that if their friends come to them for advice that makes them a coach. So many professions are under valued because of the DYI, self-proclaimed expert, and/or “my friend does that” mentality. Training and credentials are important in self-regulated professions.

It is my dream to become a personal stylist, I am new to you channel and am loving your videos!
Notice what people spend their money on in your area, if people spend all their money on electronics and tattoos and etc. they won't have any left over for a stylist or an interior decorater. Also when I was in college the stylist knew how to sew, this helps more than you think. They also studied the history of clothing. There are people on YT ( not you) who just shop that is not a stylist.
Great advice! I have been styling my friends for years. Someday I may look into making it a part time business....right now I travel to much for work with my hubby but I think that adds to my wisdom of fashion. Love your content. Hugs, Joye

Is college necessary to become a personal stylist?
