- Denafrips ARES II + Vincent Audio SV237 + Troels Gravesen ekta mkII.
I initially recorded the audio with the mic beside me but yeah my room really need correction and the sound was not very good for recording purposes...So I have to re-record the sound with my usual microphone like approx. 1 foot away.
This is one of the BEST Vincent demos on you tube! Thanks much
thanks for watching
It’s unbelievable that this is a recording of your speakers, sounds almost like the original soundtrack! Very nice speakers!
Thanks for watching.
@@asedillo1 No thanks, enjoyed it! I've also always been fascinated with DIY speaker building and have done some projects in the past, mostly subwoofers. I own among others Wilson Benesch Curve speakers, which I am very satisfied with. Still itches to make my own speakers from Mr. Gravesen. The problem is which ones! It would then have to be "better" than what I have now.
@@gertverboomen thats because it is overlayed over original sound of the video
The Ekta's will run rings around your Benesh in terms of resolution - the 7741 is a beast & the Fusion has been open sourced @@gertverboomen
Just stunning WOOOW. I own Vincent SV-500 and I love it but this is out of this world 👌👍💪
I am stuck between Ekta mk2, Ekta 7741 and Revelator-851. Ekta-7741 is a bit high budget. Discovery-861 which is lower budget also looks good. I am having a hard time deciding since I can't listen to their sounds. As someone who has made and listened to many of them, which one do you recommend in terms of soundstage, bass extension and smooth listening experience?
ekta mkII is already great to my ears if you have the right room size. When I moved house, I need to get a deeper bass for the living room but waited for so long for Troels to release a loudspeaker with the same midrange driver as the ekta and cool, it did happen :P Ekta to me is so nice to listen to. Smoothness of ekta mkii is there with very nice deep bass.
@@asedillo1 Thank you for your answer :) Which is the new model with deeper bass? My living room is approximately 5.5m X 6m. :) Of course, while I'm at it, I'd prefer a model with deeper bass :)
@@ealtunbayrak i think mk2 will suffice for that room :P
@@asedillo1 Some of ss driver builders says that sometimes a bit harsh at upper midrange or hf side especially if source is not good. They suggest other drivers like Seas. What do you think about that?
@@ealtunbayrak so far i never heard those harshness and honestly loving this midrange driver
Very very nice!! Im a bit bias of course - but its a great combo!! The Ares II really punches in another weight range and I agree with your below comment, the Vincent is a very musical amp.
Thanks mate....yeah loving my Vincent and Ares much :)
thank you for the video. What do you prefer the Ekta's or the SBA 3WC?
personally I like the mids of the ekta while SBA have potent bass.
Great video, great equipment, comparison, music... I love your videos! Please keep them coming
Thanks:)
Thanks for the video mate. Can I ask what comes in your system before the Ares? I'm thinking of pairing the Vincent with a pair of Buchardt s400 mk2's... just brainstorming streaming options etc.
Thanks :) i started with some toppings and smsl.
Wow wow wow 👏👏 sound so smoooooth.. bro! wonderful setup.. plz mention whole setup.. I have also diy speaker but electronic is not upto the level .. I'm in search for right electronic.. but yes in low price...
Thank you for very nice video.. happy listening 🎶
Thanks for watching. For this one basically the setup is as follows: Speaker is Troels Gravesen ekta mkII, Amp is Vincent Audio SV237 and using DAC Denafrips ARES II. Power cables are just consonance and interconnect is a nuvista. Speaker cable here I believe is a Kimber Crystal 24.
@@asedillo1
Thanks bro for ur kind reply..
Insanely good. I need Troell!
I use this song to test anything new in my system. It has everything you need as a test recording.
Thanks for watching )
Hi. Amazing sound! I choose between SB761, Discovery 861 and Ekta mk2. I love strong and fast bass and clear mids. Which would you recommend out of these three, please?
ekta to me is giving me very nice mid....my SBA 941 is also giving me nice mid but I prefer the ekta one....for bass...861 might give more considering larger woofer size but ekta have it as well anyway...not that too punchy though...
awesome sounding speakers! will be on my next to do list.
Thanks for watching.
Man you have nailed it
That sounds so good !
I’ve always wanted the Vincent
I have a Yamaha AS 2000
And I think this amp will smoke it !
Thanks for watching :)
Hi Poul! I’ve got the Vincent SV-700 Class A amplifier and the brand new Vincent DAC-700 and my speakers are Klipsch RP8000F. This combination with horn speakers gives you goosebumps all day long ❤ This is the best sounding setup I’ve ever had and keep my Vincent forever but will upgrade my speakers to Klipsch Cornwall IV. I sold my Yamaha AS-1100 and upgraded to Vincent and will promise you that there is a very big difference between those amps… Best regard from Denmark
@@MegaSimonDK
Thanks for your feedback
The sv 700 looks like a serious
Beast of a amp
Your very lucky 🍀
I’m still saving some money
Towards a amp but it’s a slow
Process . I’ll get there eventually
I’ll definitely look into that amp
Hopefully the next amp I get will be
My last
@@paulmunoz54 there is big difference and I’ve also tried Yamaha AS3200 here at home and it doesn’t sound better than my Vincent SV-700 Vincent has more power and bottom. You save a lot of money with the Vincent gear and funny that there isn’t more about this brand on UA-cam? There gear plays up to gear there is 3-4 times more expensive.
@@MegaSimonDK wow that’s saying something !
Thanks for the info.
It’s true about the sv700 No reviews
I’ll definitely have a listen to one and my nearest dealer .
It’s about $5.5 k here in Australia
Similar to what I would pay for the Yamaha as 2200
Definitely interested now 👍👍👍
do you think the Denafrips ARES II DAC is better than the Denafrips Pontus ll❓
Hi mate, i don’t think so. I already gave my ares 2 to a friend long time and kept terminator and pontus2. Way back before when it was the original pontus when i compared it to ares2, they are close but yeah not anymore with the latest versions.
Wow! Im blown away.
I have a Vincent SV-737 hybrid...a beast...4ohm 2X300...i'm using Dali Rubicon 2 w/ pair of rel subs...but i want a more fuller sound...thinking of Dali Rubicon 6...
your speaker sounds full bodied...have you listened to Dali ?
Sorry mate, never had a chance to listen to Dali but I read quiet a few very good review about it.
Ciao sto costruendo anch io le mk2 e volevo anch io mettere il bass reflex anteriormente hai rispettato le altezze del progetto ?
Hi, yeah same measurements and the port is just completely opposite of the hight if you put it at the back.
@@asedillo1 thanks
Great sound!! I am looking for a Dac to go with my Vincent Sv 237 and Vienna Acoustic Baby Grands.
What’s your thoughts on the Ares 2 and the Vincent mainly streaming..
Cheers
Thanks for watching. ARES II in my hearing is a good DAC for Vincent.
@@asedillo1 thank you
@@asedillo1 I know it's silly but approx. how much improvement (%) is achieved with Ares II instead of the internal Vincent DAC in soundstage, separation, overall sound quality, it is something negligible or noticeable by far? Great video, thanks for sharing.
@@mobileuser2923 hi i never used the vincent dac at all since it is only basic one and can only play mp3 i think or max 16/44. Im sure the improvement will be day and night. Thanks.
I have the 237 mk since a few months back and I used my superbly over performing Aune x8 DAC with Aune linear ps and upgraded op amp to Burson V5.
Then I tried out the internal Vincent DAC and to my surprise it out performed my Aune DAC with a wide margin.
The UA-camr A British Audiophile compared the internal DAC with his Denafrips Pontus and the internal DAC won! That's synergy done right by the Vincent crew.
Ps. Denafrips Pontus costs more than 237mk does 😮
Hi,
Почему продал Vincent sv 237 ?
Мне понравилось его звучание на этом видео!
Hi, I just have too many Amps and Vincent is just sitting doing nothing so might as well let it go so others can enjoy :) thanks.
@@asedillo1 thanks
Vincent 👌😎
As caixas brancas trás um destaque elegante.
thanks for watching. Yeah, I love their mid.
Very good sound quality for a home recordig. What kind of mic do you use for this?
The speakers are also a class of its own. there is in my opinion no competitor available in normal business, else for a huge amount of bucks.
Congrats to this system.
Thanks for watching. It is just a Behringer C-2 condenser mic.
Using this setup, did you tried Apple Music Hi-res files (24-bit/192kHz) from iPhone USB lightning connection to the Denafrips Ares II USB-B connection?
Hello, no i have not tried apple music yet.
@@asedillo1 Being a digital signal sent to Ares II at maximum volume, I guess that you are able to control the level only from the SV237 volume; Do you find this uncomfortable? Thanks,
@@mobileuser2923 Hello, yeah volume is controlled at amp and that is fine. your Int amp or preamp normally have remote control anyway otherwise you just need to turn the volume from the knob
@@asedillo1 Hi, Thank you for your feed-back. I just found out that my streamer can work as a preamp having the possibility to use the volume to digital out. The only downside is that Yamaha WXC-50 does some kind of sample rate converting from 44,1 to 48 kHz when used in pre amp mode. Otherwise, problem solved :)
Amazing!!!!... Best Regards From Mexico.
hi can I ask you in general which amplifier do you prefer between the Luxman and the Vincent? thank you so much
Thanks for watching. After spending more time now listenin between the two, I am enjoying luxman more. It is more natural to my ears while vincent sound more musical.
Beautiful ! How could you compared the Vincent with your other amps (I can see an Accuphase I think?).?
Thanks for watching....it is actually luxman....vincent is more musical sounding to me while luxman is smooth. Thanks
@@asedillo1 . Thanks for your answer. Can I ask also witch micro did you used to recorded this video? I found the sound very pleasant, but no doubt about this with this beautiful installation. Regards, Pascal
@@pascalp1528 I am just using a behringer condenser mic with scarlet.
Complimenti per il tuo lavoro fantastiche ...scusa ma dove posso trovare lo schema del crossover con i valori ?
Interesting that yours is ported in front, did you put back ports as well?
thanks for wathcing. No i did not do back port. ekta mkII can be front or back ported. Due to my small space, I decided to do the front port so I can at least move my speaker a bit closer to the back.
Really nice work, !
Thanks for watching
@@asedillo1 I subscribed too !
What an amazing speaker that you have! Did you use sub woofer as well?
And thanks for getting me introduced to this track - covers such an wide range of mid and low.
Thanks again mate and no I do not use sub.
Hello, Considering building ekta mkII . may i ask why did you set the port on the front? tnx
My old place was a bit small and was thinking I might push it further to the wall....And Troel confirms it can be done either in front or back so I stick with the front. Thanks for asking.
@@asedillo1 thanks for answering
Would you describe the speakers as warm in mid range? I am searching for speakers for the Vincent 237 mk and the denafrips Ares II and want sth with really good miss for Acoustic music/singer songwriter/instrumentals. Can you recommend sth till 3500 Euro for the pair?
Thanks for watching. If you are asking for ekta, to my ears, the mid is clean and very neutral, not warm.
@@asedillo1 Ok, thank you! Did you listen other speakers and compared them?
@@paulmastermann2200 i have vienna acoustics haydn and i prefer the mid of ekta....low is better as well with ekta while the highs as both good. I have another speaker which is not popular, an AVI duo....i prefer the mid of this avi but the low is a bit shy....highs are almost the same.
This wincent amp also rocks with my ektas mkII, its wery good mach I would say. Also Jungson ja-88d good for theas speakers too.
Thanks for watching. Yeah IMO, they are good match
Were you using NOS or OS slow/sharp?
Hi, SInce I am always using DSD settings, I never bothered trying OS.
Have you tried other branded tubes in the Vincent amp? If so what have you tried and which was your favorite? Thank you and keep up on your amazing videos.
Hi, tried EH gold and non gold, Genalex gold and non gold, tungsol, gold and non gold and JJ gold and non-gold. So far I love the Genalex gold. Lots of details to my ears, thanks.
@@asedillo1 thank you for your info.... it is very helpful!
Is it FLAC, ALAC (24/192)? DSD? What about connection of PC to DAC? Direct to USB audio in DAC? Do you use something between PC and DAC USB audio port to improve signal quality, reduce noise for PC? Why not streamer instead of PC? (SOTM?, Bluesound Node 2i?, Auralic?)
Hi it is flac pcm converted to dsd via foobar2000 apps. Pc to Dac is via usb and it is direct connection between the two. I don't think the sound will improve dramatically if i used a dedicated streamer.....You can use PC as such just make sure it is a dedicated one for your audio only....dont install much in it. :)
@@asedillo1 thank you:)
Do you some form of dB threshold compressor / limiter on your recording gear? In the beginning when you move around, you manage to make faint noises, but it almost came off as if this wasn't a real recording of a set of speakers in their acoustic environment.
It sounds abit synthetic the way your living room becomes a perfect anechoic chamber, speakers in a vacuum..
Not very realistic.
I remember this one...I recorded the video but I forgot to record the audio while I am taking the video so I record the audio separately not shown in the video. As you would notice if you are watching some of my videos that I am using smartphone to record my video and audio is through external mic recorded to laptop. That is how it is for this one just so happened not shown in the video.
funtastic sound
thanks for watching :)
Which mic setup do you use? Is it expensive?
Hi, I am just using Behringer c2
Sounds amazing! How hard was it ti build these speekers?
Thanks for watching....not hard at all. The cabinet is almost just a simple box.
@@asedillo1 great, I think I will start building one myself. Still not sure which one, the ekta, the discovery 861. Also curious to make one of these with an active crossover using dsp. What made you choose the ekta?
Big soundstage from ares! Nice system!
Thanks for watching.
what order?... am i the only one that gets pissed when seeing the name Troels? and then a link to some old windows 95 build scheme...
Wow! What streamer app or hardware are you using on the tablet? thanks?
Thanks for watching. It is just Foobar2000 on my PC and using MonkeyMoteHD to control the Foobar.
@@asedillo1 thanks Dante!
Hi, I am just using my PC with Foobar2000. So PC is directly connected to DAC via USB and I'm remote controlling the Foobar2000 apps from my PC via Ipad using MonkeyMoteHD, thanks.
Thanks mate but to be honest I have tried bluesound (loaned before) but I still wanted my PC connection. Maybe if Bluesound have I2S then I will give it a try otherwise I will stick with USB.
Hi mate, I am not using tablet going to USB....I am just using the tablet to remote the foobar.....I dont even use it often unless I am recording.....I just use my mouse from my PC to change something directly. So basically disregard tablet since it is just for remote control and not part of the sound system at all....Basically my setup is like PC USB ---> Curious Cable evolve ----> DAC ----> Int Amp ----> Loudspeaker. I hope this help, thanks.
how they compare to the other speakers with the be-tweeter (are the other drivers also SB?)
SBA 941 are all SB Acoustics drivers while ekta is all Scanspeaks. They are both good but I like the mids from Scanspeak.
@@asedillo1 how about the BE tweeter... is it really soo special and worth it
@@vladimirrusev468 i do not have the non be version but so far i hear good highs....a bit better than my scanspeak.....a little clearer I would say.

Hi, thanks for watching. I find it musical to be honest. But you can play around with the tubes.
What is the song please ?
Hi, it is Liberty by Anette Askvik.
amazing sound! it sound almost better than the original track! :) just a question, in the "original" design has no port in the front, and your design has it. it kind of modificatión or what?
