what I love is that this band has an absolute presence on the stage, commanding, and they are totally non-pretentious. no crazy get ups, all just in black, casual attire, but they sound more evil and better than 90% of death metal bands.
Hit the nail on the head there! I have way more respect for these guys than any 'armour' wearing guys with 'evil' black and white paint. This sound and utterly crushing atmosphere cannot be imitated with gimmicks!
Pretty ridiculous take in my opinion. If a band chooses to add a theatrical dimension to their performance has nothing to do with their validity of their music.
@Scummy Bumington nice of you to climb off your cousin long enough to leave this "profound" comment. Now back to work your uncle isn't gonna blow himself!!!
@FJL HellaKwik whaaat? How do you not know about immolation? You like morbid angel and dont appreciate these guys? They're from the same era, both from the early 90s. Immolation are one of the best death metal bands out there. Although ive noticed only very few metal fans know about immolation. They're known for producing a sound that isnt your run of the mill death metal sound.
for sure mate. For me that is the main reason Brutal Assault is the best festival on earth. Impeccable sound quality! (also quite small area, easy to grab food and drinks and not expensive at all). Been there on 18 and 19 edition and I can peacefully die now.
You know, I actually love watching a death metal performance stoned. Just stand back, and appreciate the sound. I went with my gf to watch Fleshgod Apocalypse at Bloodstock and she thought I was not into it as I stood there, watching, minimal reaction. It might sound odd, but headingbanging in these situations seems as distracting and irrelevant as juggling
Damn, this alone made me start appreciating Immolation more than I have in the past. They very much have a sound of their own that's ominous and dismal, that even though they have their share of blast beats doesn't rely on that to be "br00tul" or anything like. This legit sounds evil and Ross' vocals have only gotten better and better over time. Seems I have a few CDs to catch up with, I think!
One of the best performances of last year's edition of brutal assault. Seen immolation five times in four different countries and I still don't have enough.
How to be a timeless non sell out Death Fukn Metal band. Truth in professionalism and commitment. Hail one of the very few that sit up on the throne of Ever Lasting FIREEEEEE 🔥
I had the pleasure to work with them in their only gig here in Argentina. "Truth in professionalism and commitment" 1000%, excellent musicians and humble, incredible good guys!
I've seen them live 8 times since the mid 90s and I've always thought that their albums never captured the brutality of their live sound. They absolutely crush everything live.
This crew is making great death metal from the Golden age and they still shock me out with their dense riffs, deep growls and amazing drums. This is the most underrated Death metal band ever! In a time in which death metal became a speed competion, Immolation shines with their unique sound.
Anton LaVey on lead guitar ❤ I saw these guys first in 2002 at X-Mas festivals. They shared the stage with Marduk, Six Feet Under, Hate Eternal and Dying Fetus among others if I remember correctly. They impressed me by far the most that night.
Not really my style of metal, but the guitarist is badass. I know I can’t play that fast and tight with showmanship. That’s what’s missing in many metal bands today.
Seen in 1996 in London, La2 Astoria, with Vader and Cannibal Corpse, another time, another life, it would be impossible today...one of my immortal memory.
Such a crafty music even though Immolatuon doesn't identify as tech death band but those drum lines are absolutely insane and extremely difficult to be performed with such fluency
it's all coming back to me now. I once went to see a small but very underrated band in a small gig in Belgium, and after that the main event was on. A band I didn't know until then. When I saw this video and saw the ADHD-like guitarist, I suddenly remembered. It was immolation. I was front row and he almost hit me in the eye while picking.
IF THERE HAS EVER BEEN A METAL BAND THAT HAS PROVEN THEMSELVES METAL AND WORTHY.... IT IS THIS BAND. SO UNDER RATED. And robert vigna..... after ALL THESE YEARS still just as energetic and animated as he was WAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy back before close to a world below was even written....
What else would you recommend ? I like Vader because it is from my country and heard it a lot around. Just starting listen to heavier sound. Also Gojira is genius
Al fin un video de buena calidad en audio, que maldita diferencia para poder apreciar la brutalidad, que immolation te da en vivo. Ahora es cuando me arrepiento de no ir a verlos cuando visitaron Ecuador.
Foster the Divide was written for live performances I think...so good! They played it in Portland, Maine and I had the great pleasure of being there! In this video Ross's bass comes through really well, it adds so much to the sound. Meanwhile Bob's leads sound a little muted. Doesn't matter, sounds incredible.
Bob Vigna playing the guitar like a wizard conjuring spells
And he looks like a wizard conjuring spells.
Lol. That's what I thought when I saw Immolation live too.
Agreed.
Pure necromancy, he's an evil mage
Because he is~*~
Someone give the sound guys a fucking payrise because this is the best sound at a festival ever.
SO. Fyckin. TRUE.
It’s brutal assault! Best festival in Europe!
You should hear Mgla in there. It is incredible! The whole festival sounds great!
100% best festival i've ever been to.
BA has the BEST sound mix of live videos for me. Bcoz this festival is generally the best and made for fans...

Immolation is a good reason for loving Death Metal.
You're right. I dont like many Death Metal bands cos its just nothing special.

Reynaldo Vilchez My personal favorite and he is understandable which is rare in DM.

Finally, decent live footage of this band on UA-cam. Thanks for posting.
I was going to say the same thing
Immolation have aged so well. Last album was incredible.
I'm listening to it right now because of this video.... fuck. So good.
Didn't know Anton Levay could shred like that.
I love Vigna's action and animation on guitar playing..He is like Satan whipping the sword to all children's of metal.
To, The sound engineer of brutal assault
I bow down to the wizardry and skill of yours
This set sounds better than the original records.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Fully agree. I definitely have enjoyed Immolation over the years, but this video quality is more superb than record quality on some albums.

So true, sound guy is fckin on it!
Bob plays his guitar like a flame thrower!! Throwing face melting riffs!!
True kings of death metal...
Watched the entire show stoned. A really weird and otherworldly experience. Perfect performance.

See down by the beer tent, that’s me 😁
Drunk, stoned or straight a death metal show is always great 👍
The theatrics of Vigna fit perfectly to the great sound. Superb performance.
I will never not watch this when it crosses my feed. Every damn time!

Most probably my fav US DM band.
"ominous and dismal" that is a great description, there is real weight to their music.
If Morbid Angel was a brutal death metal band they would sound a lot like this.
Failures For Gods is one of my favorite (if not my absolute favorite) death metal cd ever
Don't skip their Providence EP, some killer tunes on that.
Everybody gangsta until Vigna starts using ninja gestures
whoever the sound guy is pay him double what he's getting. he maintained the bottom end and heaviness without turning it into mud.
One of the best performances of last year's edition of brutal assault. Seen immolation five times in four different countries and I still don't have enough.
Show at indonesia?
You are a luky man,
it took me 20+ years, but I finally get immolation! far ahead of their time... pioneers of the genre and metal as a whole.

Flawless performance. One of the best death metal bands ever
I haven't listened to Immolation since "Failures for Gods" back in '98 but I can see nothing much has changed.. that's a very good thing.
