OMG, this is so nostalgic for me. I had just started playing bass when I came across this on VHS no less. I wore this tape out watching it, so much of this comes back to the memory, and I can still play none of it on bass, lol.
Seeing Pattitucci in this era was his transitioning from being a not-so-nice-guy to being a nice guy. I remember meeting him in the late 90's thinking he had a mob near-by and I would get shot if i made any sudden moves. He was REALLY THAT GANGSTA back then. I don't know what changed him, but he is like a saint now. Godspeed, John.
0:08 "Jam" 07:50 "U Can't Hold No Groove" 18:45 "A Night In Tunisia" 22:40 "Norwegian Wood" 26:40 "Vulcan Worlds" with Reggie Wooten 37:45 "Amazing Grace" 40:45 "The Red Baron" with Oteil Burbridge (if you've never heard of him, check Aquarium Rescue Unit. You won't regret giving them a listen.)
I’ve seen Oteil play back in the day with Col. Bruce so many times, with the Allman Bros and now with Dead & Co. Both of these men are a gift to bass enthusiasts
Victor had a 4 string Steinberg fret less and He made some gliding tones unlike anything I had heard before! Also his custom Fodera yin-yang bass! Wow!
Wooten has all the techniques in the pocket but I can tell its music really comes from his heart. Never imagined such beautiful version of Tunisia. You Victor made me cry. Thank you
I’ve seen this gentleman so many many times live and on video, the more I understand music the more he amazes me,it doesn’t get old ever ,just more revealing the complexity of his musical layers. This is spirituality expressed through sound!
Absolutely incredible, this is one of my favorite performances I've ever seen. I have finally seen the Victor Wooten light! Harmonics, slap/thump, tapping, Victor can do it all! And Reggie is excellent, I can't even compute some of what he was doing.
Não tenho nem como descrever o quanto esse dvd representa em minha musicalidade sendo a primeira referência que tive quando comecei estudar música,eu sou muito grato por ter começado a ouvir coisa boa logo cedo.
This empathetic, very talented, and gifted musician is a very good, extremely good emotional interpreter for all of us to be lucky enough to hear. Thank you!
Damn! Too much! I could listen to this all damn day. Completely mesmerizing. Total command of his instrument. No, he is completely one with his instrument. The bass is simply an extension of his mind through the synapse of his fingers. He IS a bass guitar! He looks so young. And then his brother comes along and completes the amazement. Genius at work.
Victor Wooten was the Patrick Mahomes/Steph Curry of bass players. Just completely unorthodox with his methods but my God was it innovative and changed the game
The amount of strings never mattered. I really hate when players get caught up in that rubbish. Just make music, use whatever you choose. Bill Dickens plays a 7-9 string and I don't think anyone would dare question that guy. Just play music. Victor also uses a tenor bass, ADGC. Basically a 6 string without the Low B & E.
After watching Victor Wooten, then, naturally, any intention to pursue a career as a (world's no.1) bass guitar soloist should have no point anymore 🤣 , gone like a melting ice on the hot desert, understanding how he raised the bar so high, to the god's level, soulfully.
The mark of great musicians is when they made a very simple song sounds like a billion dollars. That "Amazing Grace" rendition is, well ... amazing. Pun intended.
Actually he doesn’t. If you come from Charles’s video, well the music is different than what Victor Wooden plays in that video. The music is played by Charles i think.
Well, I am the ,"BébéGuRL", originally crafted at Woodstock in 1969, product of existentialism and PuRe LoVe!!! " Rock me tiLL I can't feeL the Blues...
My teisco bass from the 60s has a microphonic pickup. I played a couple songs from my phone through my guitar amp just by holding the speaker of my phone to the bass end of the pickup. When I get home I'm gonna do the same for this video. Lol

I saw Victor Wooten at Toad’s Place in New Haven CT! The entire front row of the audience was all bass players checking Victor out! Me too!
Victor is obviously some one very special when it comes to bass and music making!

This is one of the best I’ve ever heard Victor you a bad man. Your Brother too Yesirrrrrrr 🤜🏽🤛🏽💯
After his set was done, it's rumored that there were sightings of the 2 bass guitars having a cigarette. 😆 🤣 😂

I watched 33:27 onwards so many times as a bootlegged clip as a kid. I’d never heard anything like it - still amazing!
Watching this master makes me feel the same way I felt when I watched Stanley Clarke back in 1978.

Thanks for the upload. been looking for this.
Vic has owned that Fodera for so long, I bet it plays so nicely. I'd LOVE to play it someday, if that was at all possible !
He does master classes occasionally. I’m sure this bass goes with him everywhere still. I’m signed up for one next month… can’t wait!
