A cool thing to add is the ability to multiplayer different difficulties of the same map (or mp3) in a lobby. This is something sorely missed that's featured in other arcade rhythm games and makes it soo much easier to have fun with friends who are new to the game and even potentially open up some cool tournament ideas. But especially the first reason cause introducing someone to try osu! always feels like you always gotta do this whole "wait for your less experienced friend to get good before we can play together" kind of thing.
Oh, absolutely. Lazer even has the groundwork for it in the standardized scoring. Another thing I'd like to see is a 'handicap' mod, which allows you to give yourself a flat X% score reduction, so I can play with EZ and not be at a direct score disadvantage with my friends playing nomod
Absolutely agree here, something similar to how it works in other rhythm games such as project sekai or arcaea link play. If we can edit the actual files of skins, I'll probably never have to even think about touching stable again (apart from if I'm showing a non-osu friend a gimmick/modchart/2B map)
iirc I believe skin files are stored in lazer the same way beatmaps are, as a binary file format which isn’t able to be directly parsed or edited (meaningfully) using file explorer. Hopefully the skin editor can replace everything that editing files for stable does, but idk when that will happen.
@@baconeko There's actually an option to temporarily access a beatmaps folder within the editor, letting you see the actual files in your native file explorer, I believe the folder gets deleted and stored back into the usual files with any changes made after you exit the editor, I'm thinking a similar thing could be done with specific skin folders.

Hi Peppy! I love your game and I've been playing lazer for a while now! I really dislike the song select though. I thought I could get used to it but I just haven't been able to. It's really hard to determine the star rating of any maps I play as I usually like to just shut off my brain and play rather that having to scope out my entire screen for the star rating. I enjoyed the system where maps were automatically separated into groups based on their star rating and difficulties were separated although they were the same song. This may be just me or a very small portion of the community but it was been the only frustrating thing that I haven't heard anything about until today. :3
I have been away from osu for some years now last time I really played was about 2018-2019, I still come back for a week or 2 here and there. This is the first update I have personally seen of Lazer and omg the progress that has come along is great. I'll personally wait for the full release but keep up the good work guys
The settings are a long list right now, but an easy and quick thing you could experiment with is to require people to click on those left hand items and _only_ see settings related to that. So vertical tab based, more or less.
If you rework the options menu into tabs (which is probably a good idea because that thing is LONG) please keep the ability to search (cross-tab) though, it's absolutely amazing and I sorely miss it in everything that doesn't have it. Basically what firefox does, though I'm thinking horizontal tabs work better since having different directions for the options per tab as for the tabs helps separate them mentally imo
I wish we could still use the original osu! interface and how skins affect it. It's still amazing how you guys have expanded to so many different platform but the OG layout and design is unmatched. I notice how differently skins are in the main game than lazer. Normally skins revamp the whole game, from song selection to the pause screen but in lazer the interface is stuck to the default. Anyway, I wish you guy all the best on your journey.
there should be a main settings page with ALL settings available in the game, to go through once after installing and forget about after. other places, like the leaderboard, could have their relevant settings too, or link to their spot in the settings page, but they should also be on the main settings page, so people don't have to search all over the application. also i would slim down the main settings and add an advanced settings button. i really don't like fiddling with config files.
One thing i really wish for (do not know if its already a thing in some way) is the ability to save a copy of a map with rate and difficulty changes, basically like how osu!trainer makes difficulties. So like you wouldn't have to change the rate and diff every time you want to play that map if you like it just at that specific bpm or whatnot. Thank you for all you do
hope there’s more community features such as shows spectating players or showing notification which of my friend is online(on stable/on lazer)and there current status and also hopefully there will be more collection features such as collection.db export (I’ve added lots of song to my collections and I’m still adding it, currently I download the songs and manage them on stable, sync them everytime via the lazer setup wizard, because there’s no way I can back up my collections on lazer😢hope there is third party program or official feature where allows me to back up those collections)
I already switched to lazer and i am glad I did. The Song select indeed bothers me a bit, but i can live with it for now. You are doing a great Job. 1 Question for anybody willing or able to answer: Are there plans to make Classic Mod ranked? There are Maps, that are 3× as hard with Slider ACC, Like Pretty little psycho DT, would Love to get a Score on them with Classic, or just more pp with lazer.
Hey guys is there already or maybe are you thinking about adding "setting profiles"? What do i mean by that is u select for example setting for osu standard and every single possible setting would be the same like in osu standard, what was talked about in video - making game more appealing to different receivers (like settings more inclined to japanese community liking), or some settings profiles for low end devices, maybe minimalist profile type?
Oh and maybe something like ability to turn on advanced settings (i think it was talked about under this vid) - so making base menu for settings way simpler and after toggling advanced settings option u could have the same appearance as is now (i think mainly new players would benefit from it, even i playing osu for 4 years was a bit overwhelmed from all the options)
@@addisonjudah that's just about changing the base version of song select and the result screen to be better, not skinning support which will happen but we have no idea when since it's not something they're really working on right now
first we fix the base implementation, then we consider skinning. also, you can already skin song select using overlays and additive elements, some people have made pretty creative setups with it!
I’d love to see first place ranks I set on lazer on my profile, since I only play lazer and all my top 100 scores are now from lazer. Keep up with the great work!
I feel like laser is finally usable (as someone who refused to move off stable). The only thing that is still preventing me from fully swapping is the very painful process of multiplayer. I can't tell if it's me, but it's incredibly difficult for me to invite say, another friend into a room. I also miss bancho bot and it's command system for mp, I'm still extremely accustomed to it.
I've switched to lazer in recent times, but the main thing I'm sad about is that last I checked, you only had global beatmap settings, and if you wanted to, say, enable video on one specific map and not all you'd have to globally enable videos for the time you play that one map before switching back. If this were fixed I believe I would have no complaints about lazer. And either way, thank you for the good work on a game I enjoy greatly!
Hi, regarding the beatmap Attribute text in 6:00. Can we please get the option to make it bold? I would love to make the PP thingy equal in font to the other beatmap attributes. I would love to add a small icon via the SkinnableSprite to essentially make it look equal to the beatmap attributes. But currently in not bold text it looks really bad.
In Lazer, the scoreboard hiding function doesn't work perfectly in multiplayer, unlike stable, it doesn't hide completely. Please look at this!🙏 Suggestion: Add three functions to the [Tab] key: 1. Show Scoreboard 2. Partially hide the Scoreboard 3. Hide the scoreboard completely
Yeah I find this very annoying because it literally covers parts of the playable area and is very distracting. I don't know why they've decided that we shouldn't be able to hide it.
Here is an option to fix settings and make it… readable. Make it color coded, different sections have different colors. Like gameplay being osu pink. Skinning blue, display changes orange, etc etc. whatever you want.
There is something I've been yearning for for mania gameplay: allowing hardrock to increase the OD and HP, increasing the difficulty to get a certain score, and award you more pp, no need to add score. The decimal scroll speed meter is awesome; I like that change, thank you.
I hope the next updste involved UI skinning. Honestly for me that's the reason I've not switched to lazer yet. The skinning element of the game its only shown inside the game in Lazer. Make me be able to change how the UI looks (at least different colors, the star rating...) and I'm sold.
I wish in lazer, if you select the classic mod, scores would still get ranked, I understand why it isn't but I hate having to switch back to stable in order to rank classic scores, notelock on certain songs gives better acc and readability
Would it be possible to please seperate the toggles for video and storyboard? Sometimes I want to enjoy the video while avoiding the cursor lag in storyboard heavy maps that my laptop has trouble running
There's something I would want to ask, will the song selection screen be skinabble? For me personally it was one of the biggest parts of the skins to be able of putting a lot of personality and ideas
0:25 - where are we going to put them Throw them all in their own toggle section like key bindings and forget about it, even if people have to go look up the name of the setting when they want to change something, which most will and have done for years with many settings in many games anyway, it's still infinitely better than just forcing one of the options with no way of changing it. I genuinely can't fathom how you can think "oh no, they wont be able to find it" or "it'll be to cluttered" and then decide it's better for there to not be an option at all, when you can just hide them all and let people find them with the search bar and or google when and if needed. You could literally make it a web thing where you have to do one of the new impossible captchas every time you want to toggle something and it would STILL be infinitely better than forcing one of the two or getting a middle of the road "solution" where both groups lose out.
I think they just need to reorganize all the settings and create an advanced settings category for the less used options, that would already help with this issue imo
Lszer is like that futuristic remake you would like to see but for some reason ddobt use. I feel like a year more of updates abd people will actually start switching
If you want to keep lazer accessible for new players, I'd really recommend you change the hit rating text to be more positive. At it stands, a new player that's new to rhythm games will only be seeing 'meh's and 'ok's on their screen, with occasional 'great's. Imagine how discouraging that must feel for that player, to have their performance be judged like that just because they're starting out. This naturally isn't a problem for more experienced players, but those are not the only ones playing osu. I'd really encourage the osu team to take a second look at that and come up with a naming scheme which ensures that new players have a good first-time experience with laser
I think the majority of people think the song select menu should be revamped, when we select a beatmap it has too much space on screen reducing the space for prev and next songs on the list. Its too much focused on current song selected and it should be more global view
Saving replays is already a cool future but it would be even better if we could save replays as mp4 and whatnot but that sounds difficult just a cool thing to think about.
One setting I would like to see implemented is relating to the quick restart change. I want to have it so when I click the restart button it quick restarts. The menu to change map setting would only open when I first open the map. My muscle memory is trained to use that button and not use the key bind, don't know why I do it like that I just do.
Beyond new features, what encourages stable players to trry out lazer more than anything, is a setting-porting feature that loads player's local settings from stable to lazer on installation. A stable player for years on end has many quirky settings, such that he may not even know all of them himself. A new environment, UI, plus foreign settings is just too much of a transition for players that do not have the commitment to do so. Personally, I could not play Lazer simply because I was a die hard fan of my skin, and any changes to that just threw my game off such that I uninstalled Lazer in under an hour.
I've noticed in Lazer when adjusting custom speed, my offset needs to be changed as well. Is there a plan to fix this or implement an option for offset to be consistent? I have read before this is intended with the answer being as a map gets faster players tend to tap earlier, and as the map gets slower they tend to tap later. Therefore there is an adjustment that is being done for that. But for players like me who try to tap consistently across all bpm and AR it is a little inconvenient having to adjust the offset per map/incremental speed up or speed down (0.8,0.9,1.2 etc)
2:55 for a second i forgot marvelous doesn't exist in lazer and thought "Why tf would greats count as an ss" Good because ss being perfects only meant only the bests of the best could get an ss when i feel like the term "1million" Should be used for that not ss
Could you please add (maybe as a toggle) to see scores on the leaderboards while playing? I liked seeing the score and combo of other people mid-play in multi, but lazer lacks this feature from stable.
I want to be able to turn off the hitsound displays turning into dots. They do so way too early relative to how cramped it gets. They also all turn into dots even if there is just one object that has cramped hitsound points. Sliders make this worse because the sliderslide point appears to be on a snapping that I might not ever use if the slider is very short. I want my screen to be full of information, and this either forces me to push a bunch of it off the sides by zooming in, or i just don't get to see it. It would be better if only the part of the timeline where the cramping actually is did this.

I can't tell if it's me, but it's incredibly difficult for me to invite say, another friend into a room. I also miss bancho bot and it's command system for mp, I'm still extremely accustomed to it.
pishi that look is the lookest so far, keep pishing
The biggest issue for me still is that hidden is different for stable in a worse way where it's less bright it feels like
2:56 OH MY DAYS I CAN FINALLY PLAY LAZER NOW 🙏🙏🙏
I've switched to lazer in recent times, but the main thing I'm sad about is that last I checked, you only had global beatmap settings, and if you wanted to, say, enable video on one specific map and not all you'd have to globally enable videos for the time you play that one map before switching back. If this were fixed I believe I would have no complaints about lazer. And either way, thank you for the good work on a game I enjoy greatly!
also I would absolutely like rambling reviews even if it's an unlisted unedited video
But currently in not bold text it looks really bad.
mania is almost actually playable now, hooray! good progress is being made
In Lazer, the scoreboard hiding function doesn't work perfectly in multiplayer, unlike stable, it doesn't hide completely. Please look at this!🙏
Suggestion: Add three functions to the [Tab] key:
1. Show Scoreboard
2. Partially hide the Scoreboard
3. Hide the scoreboard completely
peppy has previously tweeted that this is intentional
Yeah I find this very annoying because it literally covers parts of the playable area and is very distracting. I don't know why they've decided that we shouldn't be able to hide it.
Will we be getting daily challenges for any of the other gamemodes anytime soon? Also AMAZING update 🙏
How long have you done the dailies? Both Taiko and Catch have had a daily already, but Mania has yet to be. I expect Mania to be the next one though.
Oh mb, I knew mania didn't have dailies so I just assumed taiko/catch didn't have them yet either, thanks for letting me know!
lazer needs a setting import from stable, people don't want to reconfigure from scratch, especially as lazer has way more options to scroll through
babe wake up new lazer update video
Here is an option to fix settings and make it… readable. Make it color coded, different sections have different colors. Like gameplay being osu pink. Skinning blue, display changes orange, etc etc. whatever you want.
There is something I've been yearning for for mania gameplay: allowing hardrock to increase the OD and HP, increasing the difficulty to get a certain score, and award you more pp, no need to add score.
The decimal scroll speed meter is awesome; I like that change, thank you.
I think Hardrock doesn't work for Mania because it would break something, a certain mapping pattern. I forgot what it was though. Chordjack?
I hope the next updste involved UI skinning.
Honestly for me that's the reason I've not switched to lazer yet. The skinning element of the game its only shown inside the game in Lazer. Make me be able to change how the UI looks (at least different colors, the star rating...) and I'm sold.
Always glad to watch the update
i live for this format of candid, irl update vids, they're very pleasant
also pishi
I wish in lazer, if you select the classic mod, scores would still get ranked, I understand why it isn't but I hate having to switch back to stable in order to rank classic scores, notelock on certain songs gives better acc and readability
Could add a way to change cursor without having to change skins? It would make my skins tab 10x smaller
0:25 - where are we going to put them
Throw them all in their own toggle section like key bindings and forget about it, even if people have to go look up the name of the setting when they want to change something, which most will and have done for years with many settings in many games anyway, it's still infinitely better than just forcing one of the options with no way of changing it.
I don't see they removing any setting from lazer apart from the already in the works song select and result screen redesign
3:24 as long as he consents i don't see the problem🤣
1:24 expanded sub sections under user interface?
2:24 Why not just delay the gameplay while cursor is inside the settings box? Like for all 3 settings boxes
god bless you dean herbert
One setting I would like to see implemented is relating to the quick restart change. I want to have it so when I click the restart button it quick restarts. The menu to change map setting would only open when I first open the map. My muscle memory is trained to use that button and not use the key bind, don't know why I do it like that I just do.
3:00 vivid/stasis jumpscare
osu!lazer should optimize mobile app because it's *way too laggy* 😢
Beyond new features, what encourages stable players to trry out lazer more than anything, is a setting-porting feature that loads player's local settings from stable to lazer on installation. A stable player for years on end has many quirky settings, such that he may not even know all of them himself. A new environment, UI, plus foreign settings is just too much of a transition for players that do not have the commitment to do so. Personally, I could not play Lazer simply because I was a die hard fan of my skin, and any changes to that just threw my game off such that I uninstalled Lazer in under an hour.
Twin Peaks coffee roasters merch spotted! Didn't know peppy was from Perth 😳
YESSSSSS YESSSS I LOVE THIS 3:41 AAAAAAAAAA
I've noticed in Lazer when adjusting custom speed, my offset needs to be changed as well. Is there a plan to fix this or implement an option for offset to be consistent? I have read before this is intended with the answer being as a map gets faster players tend to tap earlier, and as the map gets slower they tend to tap later. Therefore there is an adjustment that is being done for that. But for players like me who try to tap consistently across all bpm and AR it is a little inconvenient having to adjust the offset per map/incremental speed up or speed down (0.8,0.9,1.2 etc)
2:55 for a second i forgot marvelous doesn't exist in lazer and thought "Why tf would greats count as an ss"
Good because ss being perfects only meant only the bests of the best could get an ss when i feel like the term "1million" Should be used for that not ss
Could you please add (maybe as a toggle) to see scores on the leaderboards while playing? I liked seeing the score and combo of other people mid-play in multi, but lazer lacks this feature from stable.
please add pinning scores to lazer next👍
i love to see how osu get's better and better, sadly i can't play lazer (it kills my pc perfomance and crashes it)
I want to be able to turn off the hitsound displays turning into dots.
ペッピー❤❤❤❤❤
1:50 my favorite song/map and first 100
The only thing missing from lazer that would make me commit the switch is combobursts.
wait incremental scroll speed no wayyy, mania lazer has so many qol changes compared to stable now
when can osu lazer android map mapping?
