I'm okay with Dust 2. It's a timeless classic. But they should've removed Ancient and Vertigo. The perfect map pool should be Anubis (T-sided), Train (CT-sided), Inferno (Balanced, classic decider), Cache (Balanced), Mirage (Aim_map), Nuke (CT-sided), Dust 2 (Slightly T-sided).
I didn’t enjoy Overpass on this game but Dust 2 is definitely a downgrade. I would much rather have seen Train come back. I’m hoping that the Inferno changes end up being positive and that it’ll become a more prominent map.
@@O_79 Valve stans defending this game like no tomorrow is always funny. The game is a downgrade. It's the worst state CS has ever been in and its 2024. Don't know why games nowadays can't ever be released in a finished state instead of beta and we will work on it over the years.
@larry2281 not even close to the worst state. Not by a long shot. Most of the games problems are from technical issues like crashes and a bad map pool etc. Underneath its 95% csgo. How is that worse than 2012 csgo

Why is it so in vogue to call the current cs2 map pool the worst in cs history? Did people forget about the pool with prodigy, aztec and fire? Or even the early cpls that had dust, millitia, italy etc.
Yeah, 20+ years ago. I thought we would've figured out a map pool that makes at least some sense by now. Overpass had the most tactical depth of any map and they've just removed it. Ugh dude, Inferno, Vertigo and Dust2 are such terrible maps.
Why did they do that rework on Overpass then just remove it. I expected them to remove either Vertigo , or temporarily inferno till they make it more playable
I've seen a lot of people justifying the switch by saying that D2 deserves to be in the pool because it's the most played map, but I don't think that's a great way to judge how good a map is. CS gets more fun when you know how to play a map. People have had 20+ years on Dust to learn what angles they like to hold, what strats they like to run, and all the little tricks they can pull to spice up a round. That just starts a virtuous cycle, where people only play the maps they know, while knowing so much because they're the only maps they play. Ancient's a good example, where people have had time to learn how to have fun on the map, causing more and more people to like playing it as time goes on. Only 7 maps get that opportunity, so it hurts to see a slot wasted on D2.
"they do not put respect on the pro scene, they only care about casuals" I have always thought the opposite of this, if pros find bugs, they instantly fix it. If crashes happen in a pro game, then they are taken care of really fast. while casual players want better anti cheat which they never got
Dust was removed because it was overplayed and shallow in replay-ability, and then for some reason a map that is so incredibly nuanced like Overpass; a map that in 10 years has found a way to *still* not be stale is removed. Dust replacing Overpass just accentuates what already massive issues Dust had, because it’s removing a map that had exceeded in it’s weaknesses.
I do agree with the fact that this is the worst map pool ever. Since I started in 2019, I was already 20 years behind everyone else on D2 experience! Feels like that's a gap that is really hard to close
there should be a pro-play and casual map pool , so both sides are happy.removing overpass for dust 2 is such a bad choice for casuals and pro play.dust 2 is dreadful to play with randoms and boring to watch on a professional level.
It's really refreshing to hear someone else discuss the differences in ways that the maps play when it comes to active pool rotations. I've always thought that valve's decision making isn't the absolute worst when it comes to adding maps in, but is terrible because they always seem to remove maps that shouldn't be, and they don't seem to have any understanding of keeping the map pool similar overall i.e. similar number of puggy maps, similar number of strategic maps. Swapping a map for one that plays completely differently and more like other ones in the pool is just so wrong.
The last two exciting/interesting things I've seen in CS2 is Twistzzz baiting the smoke blowing up on Overpass and Dev1ce IGL'ing Astralis and actually doing some team, old Astralis-esque, executes with utility.
A thing that really bugged me was that there was no justification for this change. When they removed cache they at least told us why, but this was just plopped onto the community without a real justification for it. My personal theory (which is purely a gut feeling) is that out of all the collections, the overpass collection is the least profitable one, so to incentivize souvenir buying, valve put the collection that has a good skin (ak gold arabesque for those that dont remember).
Dust2 is cuz chinese major and they want something familiar for the crossfire and other cs knockoffs that have been popular in asia. It gives them something familiar to watch and gain viewer numbers for the major. Its a money move
Overpass made up for some of the most boring games to watch considering how often it was just ct sided stomps, think it honestly helps the pro scene that it gets removed since it isn't played alot casually and casuals wouldn't wanna watch games on a map they don't play themselves.
83% winrate on Vertigo... Gotta love the map... But on a serious note, Dust2 got probably switched for some map going out because it's the only one available and it's crazy popular in China (where the next major is obviously). There's just no other reason to put it back over Overpass. Genuinely don't think Overpass should be in the map pool but neither should Dust2.
I'm so with you man jesus fuck why dust 2. the map i so goddamn boring. Literally nobody wanted dust 2 back (other than neokcs). Everybody I've seen wanted train, cobble or cache. Personally i want a new map entirely. I'd honestly be up for a bigger switch up than a singular map being swapped. Drop this dust 2 bullshit for something like Thera or Train (as long as it isn't 3 lane i'm fine.) then drop Vert for cobble or tuscan, drop mirage for cache and boom you've got pugginess and tactical masterpieces. Inferno's rework could be enough but we'll see.
I can't take anyone seriously who says this is the worst map pool ever when CSGO had that utter dogshit version of Cobblestone and a RANDOMIZER FOR THE THIRD MAP IN A MAJOR
Valve has this "WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT???" changes every now and then. Spunj often said the same as you, like why isn't there a person at valve bringing in the Esport perspective and arguing from that point of view. Now my question: we got a huge and awesome talent pool. Has anyone ever just applied at valve with a pitch like that? Sometimes they move in mysterious ways, maybe they would consider to hire someone for that? Just a thought.
and like if Valve sees the hate comments and decide to change the map pool back where it was (removing dust2 and putting overpass back) its gonna create a very bad mark on them and probably a lot of ppl are just gonna stop playing this game
IMO i think if it werent for these changes on inferno i think i would top 1 on inferno to be the map to get kicked out from the map pool and also cause of the round economy in which it hasbent been fixed yet which makes it a bad map to play in and also a bit claustrophobic ngl and mirage to get out only cause you cant create new stuff in it and ancient i would let it stay where it is only cause no one has been complaining about it in general but i ve heard ppl saying that vertigo is a bad map, for some reason but i can agree that even though i hate playing on overpass its still a master piece of a map although its kinda a one sided map but yh with all that said i think valve should ve first in this update put the updates on each map that needed and fix some bugs and then on some other update when the time was right to do an active map pool change only when cache, or train, or cobble are ready
