  • We've taken the 2017 Hyundai Tucson 2.0L Premium AWD out on a 1,700km road-trip to see how well it manages the Niagara-Ottawa journey. The 2017 Tucson comes with 17" alloy rims, Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Cross-Traffic Alert, a panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel, heated front & rear seats, and a 5" touchscreen infotainment screen with SiriusXM Radio.
    Our in-depth tour and review goes over the exterior design, interior button layout and features, and our thoughts after our long trip with it.
    2019 Edit: This is probably one of the first episodes we did that was well-rounded, although the editing, filming, and technical aspects of the video aren't very good. We do go over a lot of the features of this vehicle in more depth than we've done previously. I also grabbed some pretty decent B Roll.
    Either way I apologize in advance for the poor audio that keeps spiking all the time.

    2:43 It’s really great to hear some genuinely honest feedbacks like the ones in this video (e.g. under power on highway). Thank you for sharing and I appreciate it.

      We definitely see a lot of them on the road out here, they're popular options for consumers.

      Glad to hear it! We find that most of the non-flagship German cars aren’t worth the price tag, especially new. We think that Hyundai and Kia have some very interesting things going on right now, it’s a great time for the automotive industry.

    I have the 2017 Tuscan DCT and at first was mostly fine, till I started seeing the "high temp, stop safely" message on dash when I was in stop and go traffic. It is not the normal overheating, but instead due to the dual clutch system. The clutches overheat for the "eco-friendly system". Last time it happened I couldn't pull over and the car died in traffic for 15mins. It is extremely INCONVENIENT and UNSAFE! Hyundai should be ashamed of themselves for sacrificing safety and efficiency for some marginal environmental impact in this 'eco-friendly' DCT. After the repeated overheatings to the clutch (caused by built-in defect), it will cost ~$1500 to replace. I will never buy another Hyundai again!

      How hot does it get in your area? We had a long-term Kia Niro back in 2018, and another one for most of the 2019 summer and didn't have any issues in 30ºC+ temperatures even on longer trips. I imagine it uses the same 7DCT as yours. Have you had the transmission worked on at your local dealership?

    I have the same vehicle and was wondering what kind of oil and how many kms before I should change it......the dealership told me every 6000k and the book says 12000k. Does it use full synthetic?

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  7 років тому

      It depends on your driving habits mostly. The dealership will always push shorter service intervals to make more money, it's just how they all do business. I would go with in between both numbers, as oil changes only help prevent issues, so doing them more frequently isn't a bad thing. The owner's manual should also have the specifics of what type of oil you should be using, it's very possible it requires synthetic as most engines are designed for it these days.

      We are! technically this video was mostly shot in Gatineau, QC however we are currently based out of Lincoln, ON for another 5 days. We're moving production to Montreal with new filming hopefully by August. we have about a dozen videos that we'll have filmed around here to publish over the next little while.

      I don't believe there is, I skimmed through some of the interior walkaround just now and didn't see anything our camera might have caught. Unfortunately it's been so long since we did this video that I don't recall from memory.

    What railway is behind you?

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 років тому

      I don't believe the track is used anymore, and unfortunately it seems like the train cars that were parked there have been heavily vandalized since filming this video, we drove by a couple months back and a lot of the exterior windows were smashed in and graffiti sprayed along the cars. Either way, this is a small line that runs through the Hull area of Gatineau, Quebec, that would connect to the main line, if the cars weren't blocking both tracks. From Google Maps it appears the tracks run north to a small town called Wakefield where just after the tracks have been removed and paved over.

      @@PRNTestDrive if you Google "2017 Tucson Trim Levels" and scroll down to the sixth hit or so it's a pdf laying out the Canadian trim levels for that year

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 років тому +1

      This was a fleet vehicle, sometimes manufacturers end up selling slightly different configurations but use the same trims and it ends up being a bit confusing. This was also one of the super early car reviews we did before getting access to the press fleets, so we worked with what we had.

    I used to love the idea of sunroofs, until I found out they tend to kill you in an accident (people fly out of the car through it).

    What is the best SUV you have driven and why?

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  8 років тому

      So far the 2016 Kia Sorento is on the top of my list. It's one of the most comfortable non-luxury SUVs I've driven on long distances, and it has a nice assortment of features like heated front/rear seats and steering wheel, blindspot monitoring, backup camera and window shades for the back seats which was very important for our little one.
      I also enjoyed the 2016 Mazda CX-3 with the GT trim, my only complaint with that was the lack of arm rest for the front passengers, but I'm told that's being fixed for the 2017 model year.

      The Kia looks so cheap compared to the Tuscon..imo the Toyota Honda & Kia similar models to the Tuscon all fall way behind just because they are very unattractive in the overall display setup when you get in them..it's a real turnoff & my friends brother who's a mechanic said he would never own a Kia lol
