yep, I think that WAS sort of the culmination of "everything happens for a reason". The best kind of answers to existential questions, are the ones that you still have to figure out how to interpret them.
Yes I think the reason this happened she was alluding to was the lesson she's teaching us, It would be awesome if this story reaches someone and saves a life or 2..
I mean what this guy must've put himself thru to hide his true feelings, when he could've been honest n maybe temporarily hurt others but release his pain, but chose to keep the guilt inside until it killed him, it was heroic of him but Im sure his family would rather have him alive and gay than dead, hiding in a porn shop...either that or maybe that wasn't the end of her set?
What a brilliant story teller. Funny, compassionate, sensitive, instructive with just the right amount of detail. And if Andrew really was his name, and the porn store name hasn't been changed, then I'm pretty sure his wife & daughter now know everything you wanted to tell her Kristine.
yeah that's possible too, but if his wife didn't know anything about his "other" lifestyle/orientation, she probably wouldn't have the brains to sniff around on the net, since she would not likely know what to look for in the first place. but the opposite is also possible: that she already knew.

I love this SO much! I battle the balance between being compassionate and also seeing humor in really unfortunate circumstances... great story telling 💖
I noticed that about half a dozen other comments indicated people who totally did not get this concept. Apparently some people are only capable of holding one idea or experiencing one emotion at a time. I sort of pity them but maybe their lives are just very uncomplicated.
This happens often in the Gay Bathhouses also. People that are “partying” in drugs and are having problems “getting it up” will take viagra. Viagra does not play well with nitrates (what she called Rush, general term poppers). It creates a big drop in blood pressure that results in death if not careful, and it happens fast.
Thank you for sharing this information! Hopefully we can raise the level of education so that people can still have a good time while not risking serious health consequences.
@@deanpd3402 This is actually pretty well known for those with heart conditions and take prescription nitrates for it. Pfizer has been placing warnings on their Viagra, and the generic version advising against taking along side anything containing nitrates. Sadly there are too many people that assume there is no risks because these items are legally sold online and over the counter. These are generally the same people that you read about in the news after they have used "k2" or "bath salts" they bought at the corner store.
i didn't know amyl was legal OTC. somehow I'm guessing you have more details for these stories than you have already posted, and I would absolutely read them. All about education, we know this.
@@tracyavent-costanza346 In most places Amyl is no longer legal OTC, I think there are a few countries that still allow it. This resulted in the formula's for these "video head cleaners" to consist of: Pentyl nitrite, Butyl nitrite, Isobutyl nitrite, Isopropyl nitrite, and im sure theres new ones. The adverse health and safety results from countries waging a public war against what is considered among the less harmful of recreational drugs, is that as the companies that maintained a standard with their products ended up out of business, and shady copycats that tried to pass themselves off as the old companies were selling products that were WAY more dangerous. Lying about the contents, poor quality of chemicals used, and lots more. I live in Texas and started going to and working at gay bars in 2000 (turned 18) and became immersed in the scenes around me. Somethings I have partaken in, and others I have passed on them but still learned as much as i could about what was so prevalent around me. I can say poppers were easily available at sex shops/leather shops/adult video stores/bath houses and there was no shame buying them. Up until just about 10 years ago when you could not guarantee that you were getting what you were buying, and it would often be bad quality or fake. Fun Fact: If you watch the tv show Claws, there is an episode in the early seasons where Uncle Daddy and his wife are at their strip club and she uses poppers. (opens a small bottle and inhales fumes and rides the rush of it).
So glad you enjoyed Kristine's story! We have one other story of hers on this channel, and you can find more of her stand-up and storytelling around the web as well. :D
Yeah, Viagra + amyl nitrate... probably the only way amyl nitrate could hurt you, really. Viagra causes your blood pressure to go really high, and amyl nitrate causes it to go really low (just super briefly). And while it's certainly huge in the gay scene, it's not really just exclusively used by them, anyone can use it. Medically, it causes momentary relaxation of a special kind of muscle called smooth muscle. Smooth muscle is only a few places in the body. One is your heart (which is why it causes blood pressure drop), another is your anal sphincter. There are some others, but those are the biggies. The blood pressure drop and such also causes a head rush, makes your face feel really hot, etc. It's legal, although not legal to actually sell it for human consumption. So it's often sold as "VCR head cleaner" and stuff like that. It's sold in small bottles and to use it you just smell it. I've researched it pretty well and I honestly couldn't find anything significant in terms of dangers, which really surprised me. Most inhalable stuff like that is utter poison for your brain, but amyl nitrate doesn't seem to do anything bad. Certainly wouldn't mix it with Viagra or mess with it if you have blood pressure problems in general I suppose, but otherwise it's one of the safer things out there. Oh, and the rush it gives only lasts for like 30 seconds max. Usually less.
Actually viagra causes vaso-dialation. Meaning it causes your blood vessels to relax which leads to low pressure. Amyl nitrate does the same. Patients with angina take nitro for chest pain. It also causes vaso-dialation. So taking two drugs that lower your blood presssure is a recipe for disaster.
these comments are where I salute real science. I do wonder if Andrew knew perfectly well that he might destroy his brain with this combination of "meds"...or that is wife might have been fully aware of his penchant.
Ok, what the hell!? I go from giggles and laughs, to having a lump in my throat? She added just enough funny to keep this sad story from going dark - well played ma'am. LOVED her closing message too. Be free. Preach!
You know I'll bet there are a million stories that could be told by porn store clerks. They have great stories because they are sort of invisible. This is a good one. It would make a good short story as well.
Christine:. You did the best, most human things in that situation. I feel pretty safe Andrew is ok with your "finder's fee", because of your absolute humanity toward him and his family. God bless you.
I didn't expect this story to effect me like it has. I can relate to the pain his wife must have had & wish more people felt comfortable being honest about who they really are or what they want. It's terrible that society makes anyone want to keep secrets that effect there whole lives like that.. Kristine you are an awesome person regardless of the choice you made to keep the $. Other people would have probably done the same thing but wouldn't have told the truth. Let alone seen the importance of using your honesty & humility to tell such a great story & make it hilarious.. So many people feel uncomfortable talking about sex & the way you told this story so honestly at the same time as being so freaking funny was great!! I'm showing this to everyone I know!! I hope I find more of your comedy too because I'm definitely a fan!!
as other postings have said, entertain the possibility that his wife knew far more than she chose to make obvious. for one thing, if she was totally unable to deal with the sitch, why would she have brought her daughter. If her daughter was an adult herself, maybe the daughter was there to support her mom, and BOTH of them knew more than they chose to say.
Yep, what is with those 911 dispatchers anyway? I had to drop my daughter's boyfriend off late one evening and drove by a local restaurant and there was a lot of smoke or steam rolling out the back. The first time I went buy I figured they were steaming out their hood (summer holiday weekend). When I drove by on the way home I pulled into their parking lot and looked a little harder, no it was on fire. I called 911 and told them the restaurant was on fire, they started questioning me "What makes yo think it's on fire?" "How do you know?" I must of answered okay because their response was "Okay we'll see if we can get someone out there". I hung out until that someone showed up, a volunteer firefighter in his pick up truck with no turn out gear, before he was there 30 seconds he had radioed back in to 911 and requested his full department respond and aid from three surrounding departments. They were still on the scene when we got out of church the next morning. I got my prevenge, I was the county's facilities director and about a week later the 911 center called in because the sink in their break room was plugged. so I asked "Are you sure it's plugged" "How do you know?" "What makes you qualified to determine that, are you a plumber"
This kind of made me feel...a way. Like the human side of it was so beautiful but the porn clerk side was all the way dark. I loved both. So now I'm both sad but also uplifted and straight like...life is too short. 😂 wtf even
This goes to show you never know what goes on in another person’s life. In spite of her surroundings and working in a pretty sketchy business, she is a very caring human.
This a good stand up piece, nice to see a female comic doing a stand up bit about adult stuff and not being all about themselves trying to gross out the audience. It seems like it's rare to see.

Ba-Dump-Tsssss
Man, that was below the belt!
William McKinley Pretty sure rimshots happen there too B=======D
As a former Paramedic who has encountered a similar situation, I have said those very words.
I almost clicked off a few minutes in. A couple of comments about the end (without spoiling it) made me stay. I'm glad I did.
So glad you stuck around. 😃
Dark humor isn't for everyone. But I get it.
Dark humor is like food. Not everyone gets it.
I don't know if the blackout on "tell people, it's okay" was intentional but if it was, beautiful
yep, I think that WAS sort of the culmination of "everything happens for a reason".
The way she gave respect to the heaviness of the situation while also seeing the humor and acceptance of death as a part of life... seamless. Perfect.
I didn’t know if I should cry or laugh.
There's room enough in this story for it all.
The answer is yes
I’ve written it into my will that whoever finds my body gets whatever money is in my pockets.
what if it was your murderer?
What a brilliant story teller. Funny, compassionate, sensitive, instructive with just the right amount of detail. And if Andrew really was his name, and the porn store name hasn't been changed, then I'm pretty sure his wife & daughter now know everything you wanted to tell her Kristine.
yeah that's possible too, but if his wife didn't know anything about his "other" lifestyle/orientation, she probably wouldn't have the brains to sniff around on the net, since she would not likely know what to look for in the first place. but the opposite is also possible: that she already knew.
This is where I ended up after 16 hours of the UA-cam rabbit hole. I’m clicking my heels but is not working
You've mixed too movies are you Dorothy in Oz or Alice down the rabbit hole. If you are Alice, clicking heels won't work. You have to get to the 8th square by running really fast so you are grown up enough to go home and have some tea.
There's no place like TED X.
no telling what you will encounter on the other side of the looking glass.
This is what Angela from the office is up to now a days
I like how right at the end, she wrapped up the point of telling her story concisely and clearly
Fuuuuuck! We worked at the same shop! Fantasy: for adults in downtown Portland!
Hilarious! Sounds like you may have a story or two of your own. If you ever want to share, we're still here looking for stories. Let us know!
I think she mentioned that she worked at the one in Tigard on 99W
@@MysteryBoxShow I really loved this skit except the end. What makes you think he is gay,and was hiding it from his wife ? Bisexual people exist, and just because you got a male or female long term partner does not mean you stop being bisexual.
@@terryfeynman Thank you for bringing this up. While we don't strictly endorse all of the views and statements of our storytellers, we believe Kristine may have been speaking from her own experience of seeing other similar customers over the years and hearing their stories. With that being said, however, we 100% agree with you about Bisexuality, and the misconception that if a person has chosen a partner, then that means they've also chosen a sexuality.
this is one of the biggest rollercoasters ive ever been on
This story is just perfect. The loss and sadness mixed with humor is just what makes us human. Thank you for this incredible story.
Whoa. Best ending for the story: “be who you are”
I love this SO much! I battle the balance between being compassionate and also seeing humor in really unfortunate circumstances... great story telling 💖
Kristine has a unique humanity, and it was our honor to have her on our stage. So glad you enjoyed the story!
Well, that's information that should be made available.
This scenario is something that I’d expect to see on Always Sunny in Philadelphia and the fact that it’s not is honestly a travesty
The end was great honestly.
It feels like shes using this to cope with the whole situation.
aren't we all doing that?
maybe he was bisexual and his wife DID know.
just a thought.
EXACTLY!! I was thinking the same thing. They say one shouldn’t make assumptions. 🤔
Funny
i wouldn't be surprised.
I want to listen to her tell stories more. She's a great narrator, and the story was so touching
So glad you enjoyed Kristine's story! We have one other story of hers on this channel, and you can find more of her stand-up and storytelling around the web as well. :D
Everyone who’s saying it was wrong for her to talk about this, watch until the end- it was really touching
"Don't keep secrets"wow I'm 14 and this is deep
This was great. Glad I rolled the dice and clicked when it showed up in my feed. Funny and touching story. She seems like a damn hoot as well!
So glad you enjoyed Kristine's story. :) Hope you enjoy exploring more of the stories we have to share...
This is superb. Its unpolished and real. Great performance Kristine.
Agree!
I'm confused, is it unpolished and real, or a performance?
What a strange combination. Hugely sad story, and finding the humour in it, all the same.
She looks like a character from Portlandia
@Pure Gaming Loco shut the fuck up you bitch hhahaha. always trying to make fun of fat people just because no one loves you ahhahahah
And then somehow, against the odds, she became yet even more loathsome than before...
Omfg I love her 💀💀💀 so perfectly flawed and human ❤
That's why we love her, too!
Usually less.
good to see medical people here :D
Actually viagra causes vaso-dialation. Meaning it causes your blood vessels to relax which leads to low pressure. Amyl nitrate does the same. Patients with angina take nitro for chest pain. It also causes vaso-dialation. So taking two drugs that lower your blood presssure is a recipe for disaster.
"researched it"
these comments are where I salute real science. I do wonder if Andrew knew perfectly well that he might destroy his brain with this combination of "meds"...or that is wife might have been fully aware of his penchant.
He came and went with style.
Ok, what the hell!? I go from giggles and laughs, to having a lump in my throat? She added just enough funny to keep this sad story from going dark - well played ma'am. LOVED her closing message too. Be free. Preach!
The power of Denial and rationalizing is amazing
YOUR power to judge other people is really not that amazing.
This made me laugh and cry, especially the end. You ARE a good person Christine 💕💕
Killed it. I was hooked 1min in. Outperforms her peers
You know I'll bet there are a million stories that could be told by porn store clerks. They have great stories because they are sort of invisible. This is a good one. It would make a good short story as well.
it was going to, but I couldn't decide how to end it.
But, he was ALL dead...and when you're ALL dead, the only thing left is to go through his pockets and look for loose change.
Is that you, Miracle Max?
true story bruh
Funny, intriguing, touching. Her delivery reminded me of early Roseanne stand up.
Christine:. You did the best, most human things in that situation. I feel pretty safe Andrew is ok with your "finder's fee", because of your absolute humanity toward him and his family. God bless you.
The ending was everything 😢💯❤❤
Totally! Kristine has a unique humanity to her, and we love that that's how she wrapped up this story.
This story is sure strange but beautiful. Great job.
@@MysteryBoxShow the phrase "unique humanity" is kind of redundant.
WOW, I don't think I've ever loved, hated, & understood someone so much all at once. But she is correct be free this life is to short.
That’s what you call coming and going at the same time! I could think of a worse death.
Great point at the end, but why did it take 20 minutes??
It's comedy, story telling, some people like it, some people don't.
I hope his wife never sees this.
entertain the possibility that his wife knew everything about it.
Unbelievably funny and real. My favorite one of these. Humor is the way to cope, folks.
This got dark from the moment I pressed play.
i dont feel that its dark at all
Yep, what is with those 911 dispatchers anyway? I got my prevenge, I was the county's facilities director and about a week later the 911 center called in because the sink in their break room was plugged. so I asked "Are you sure it's plugged" "How do you know?" "What makes you qualified to determine that, are you a plumber"
welp not EVERYONE in government service is the cream of the crop.
Someone needs/needed to give her a medal 😭...wow
This was hilarious, beautiful, and sad all at the same time.
Wow. That was powerful. I‘m fortunate this came up on my feed. Thank you.
So glad you found us as well! Kristine's definitely one-of-a-kind. We have plenty of other stories to enjoy... Welcome, and have fun exploring! :D
The Mystery Box Show so looking forward to seeing more. 🖤
This kind of made me feel...a way. Like the human side of it was so beautiful but the porn clerk side was all the way dark. I loved both. So now I'm both sad but also uplifted and straight like...life is too short. 😂 wtf even
Stroke Out - and not one joke made! Gahhhh!!! Fantastic storyteller. Seriously, you're fantastic at painting pictures.
I like this, it reminded me that we are all human. Sometimes in the midst of chaos I lose sight of that.
This goes to show you never know what goes on in another person’s life. In spite of her surroundings and working in a pretty sketchy business, she is a very caring human.
This ending, I really kind of love it
I would love to see more of this woman’s comedy. Very touching and funny, sad and meaningful, but most of all...real
You can find clips of Kristine's comedy on UA-cam, plus podcast appearances here and there. :) She's hilarious!
Man, that's the worst "dude delete my history" scenario ever!☠👻😁😅🤣😂
For such a dark, messed up story, she really brought it home with a touching moral at the end. Loved it!
So glad you enjoyed the story. Kristine has a unique heart. ❤️
@@MysteryBoxShow I laughed the whole way through, then left with feels. She did great!
This a good stand up piece, nice to see a female comic doing a stand up bit about adult stuff and not being all about themselves trying to gross out the audience. It seems like it's rare to see.
Awe :) that was honestly a super nice sentiment at the end there.
I can tell you with a hundred percent certainty I wouldn't take a dead person's money. That's a good way to need therapy for years.
oh, I see, so if you left the money in his pocket, the rest of the experience would just be out of your mind by the next morning. congratulations.
When it blacked out at the end and she was saying that you just need to be you and stuff and i was like, oh emotional ending but then the screen came back on and just killed the vide, good video none the less.
Porn Store Angel has an iffy ring to it, but I think it applies.
Thank you, Kristine, for sharing this story.
we may indeed entertain angels unawares.
This was some ladies trauma story. You can always tell because they recount every single detail, painfully, and listening to it feels like taking a very long painful shit. But it just shows that inspite of the comedy she does actually have a heart
That was awesome, .. I hope we see a lot more of this lady
That was very entertaining, hopefully I will find more recent stuff from you!
