Crank position sensor was replaced once for a small fortune at shop 4 years ago. Now having no start issues again. Swapped ICM still no fix. Question: Could leaking side cover/timing cover/water pump gaskets cause fluids to drip downward and short out the Crank Sensor?
+@Whit_Siever We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I've heard people mention 2 different sizes. 1/4 SAE or 6mm Metric. I believe they are metric. The puller kit should come with both SAE and Metric bolts.
You should NOT have lubricated the crank Bolt. When you do this you change your torque value. You think you might be torquing to 111 lbs, but now that you decrease the friction properties with the grease on your bolt you could have just increased your torque by 30%.
I think I could probably do this procedure. I do not have a scan tool though. I notice you mentioned a possible re-learn procedure with a scanner. I know its hard to predict but what is the likely hood that the re-learn procedure must be done. Think this will determine whether or not I attempt this or not. And these videos are so helpful. Modern cars are wonderful but I don't think the engineers of them took into consideration that it would be a bunch of amateur backyard Gomer Pyle's trying to fix them .
Mr Jerry have u changed out ur sensor? I don't have a scanner also. I'm having 2nd thoughts about just throwing one on and hoping it works with a relearn procedure.

I can't thank you guys enough for these videos. I've save a lot of money and built my confidence because of them.
You don’t have to calibrate anything when replacing the cam and crank sensor for anyone that is wondering
Beautiful job! Excellent step-by-step professional tutorial. Much obliged sir. ['94 Buick Regal 3.8L / L27 (very similar)]
Outstanding explanation, demonstration, illumination. First rate. Thanks. Dave, not Eileen
Would one of these going bad prevent the car from starting?
I have 2008 buick lacross 3.8 doing this very job know ,,thanks,,video helped completely
What is the proper relearn procedure ?
If infact necessary?
If a person had to change the crankshaft position sensor, might as well change the camshaft position sensor too, while everything is apart.
Muy bien video le felicitó y gracias !!
Excellent video, thanks for the info.
Are you going to do a video on the 2009 through 2011 Buick Lucerne CXL 3.9 engine how to replace crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor

Can you use an outside puller that has hooks on the outside that grabs the perimeter of the harmonic balancer drum?
Why would the crank bolt have to be turned another 76 degrees after reaching torque? Never heard that one before.
Great video, thanks
What size of screws do you use for the puller

Do you have the part for that puller?
whats the breakaway on the impact wrench? Mine has just over 600ftlbs anbd the bolt refuses to move despite lots of penetrating oil.
Bro I have problem in my buick regal may I send you a video

+Vince Giltz We appreciate the feedback. Sometimes there are multiple ways to accomplish the same repair. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Dont simply disconnecting your battery relearn your sensors?
IS THIS THE SAME AS THE 2007 BUICK LACROSSE 3.8???
What kind of torque is needed to remove the crankshaft bolt?
