He is/was very well known & loved in aussie music. Being well liked in Australia is very different to being well liked in Europe or the UK. I think, had he been English or American, he would've had a huge international career. RIP Doug
Listen how Doug's phrasing in the song and sings around the melody and tells the story. Always on pitch just a world class entertainer Thankyou Doug for bringing your particular joy to the world a gift you bear so gracefully We will all miss my friend! Condolences to your family James

Unfortunately Doug passed away Monday afternoon 15 March 2021 aged 74 years... taken way too soon.. an absolute Aussie Icon singer and entertainer... RIP Doug Parkinson... :(
Doug, immaculate timing and tone. Had the pleasure of having dinner with him and getting pissed on liqueurs and a variation on Irish coffee. A true gentle giant. Sorely missed.
Couple of friends saw his last concert and he sat for his last song Very sad Doug was unwell at the end Saw him in 1970 in melb and randomly after, he was more of a part of umpire lives than we realised , that voice, iconic xx
What a singer Doug can deliver a song with his unique talent and the guitar player great I'm pretty sure is tony Naylor remember the stripes on his guitar from years ago
