Technically challenging but relatively safe physically & absolutely boring. The prioritizing of oppos in scoring is wrecking the sport & stifling innovation. You have the power to do better Emil. Please DO BETTER.
First of all congrats for the win. Not that I have any authority critizing one of the worlds best riders, I can't even do a 360 without breaking a wheel... However, I've got an oppinion and I hope it's not offending you Emil. I know your riding is top notch, super technical and beyond what most people are able to do. And I know you ride this way because it's the way you're able to win. However, I find it quite boring to watch (sorry). You do technical tricks, not spectacular ones. Back in the day slopestyle was about getting risky, being bold and just sending it, I feel this is lost in today's sports. It's more like gymnastics about technicalities, refinedness and precision. I'd like to see it go back to the roots and being more rough and more stupid. But also who am I to make demands?
I know what you're saying. I've been saying this about all sports for a couple years. It's like the guys are too good. Whatever the sport. Mainstream basketball or skateboarding a park. These kids that have been raised with special training facilities and summer programs vs the old school when it was just something you did with your friends has made the sports world just a bit vanilla. Absolutely amazing stuff, and I don't like calling Emil's runs vanilla because they are so freaking insane...but yeah. Gymnastics is a good comparison. Fucking crazy skill, but that has taken a lot of the soul out of activities for us older folks. And now get off my damn lawn!
I don't know if progression from this point is possible but Emil will prove me wrong again I'm sure

A 360 windshield-wiper on a stepdown followed by a truck to double downhip are beyond spectacular. Emil just make them look easy.
