Thanks for the great info you provided in your responses, I felt like they all asked the questions I was going to ask
Looking into a 10’ penn fierce 3 8000 live liner for around $150. Is this too much? I plan on using it for surf fishing and some boat usage in the future. I’ve heard great things about it but is it too much? Is a 6000 good enough? I want a rod an reel that’ll last me a good while and wont break as easily if a big fish is caught. All my fishing will be in the gulf of Mexico(South Texas)
The reel size you get would depend on 2 things, how big a fish you plan to catch and what line capacity you need based on the line poundage. The 6000 holds plenty of braided line.
Great video. I wanna buy Fierce III Live Liner 6000 or battle II 6000, any advice will be appreciate.
Thanks! I don’t think the Battle II is still in production? The advantage of the your other choice is that it has the Live Liner function. The Fierce III have proven to be be reliable as we’ve used it extensively on big saltwater fish.
@@SportFishingAsia Very helpful, I will take a Fierce III this week, Thanks a lot.
What type of line are you using ?!?!
@@adame3349 That'd be 50lb that time. Leader used 60lb and is a must if using braid as main line for a few reasons 1) braid will potentially cut the fish which will be bad 2) the bill of the billfish is very coarse and nylon leader will withstand constant rubbing better 3) nylon leader is safer to handle when the fish is near the boat 4) nylon will also allow some stretch when fish makes sudden jerks and jumps whereas braid which has no stretch could pull the hook or break
Sport Fishing Asia ok thank you just bought a penn fierce 3 6000 for surf fishing and all I use is mono but was thinking of Changing to braided line and use a flourocarbon leader for more casting distance and strength
@@adame3349 braid should get you more casting distance, line capacity and bite sensivity. All the best in the surf!
Nice fish!!! Was that the 4,000? I just picked up my Penn fierceIII live line 4000. Stoked to go test her out.
Eric Kuykendall it’s a 6000 in the video. Using a 2500 too. Working great, hope you’ll catch plenty with yours!
@@SportFishingAsia kind of figured it would have been a bit heavier duty since you went for sailfish. I'm stoked to use mine
You put a fierce 2 in the thumb nail
Whoops! My bad. What sharp eyes you have!
