For everyone who is raging on this list you should keep in mind that it isn't ranked on the intelligence of the people living in the city (which is why NY was on here), but how that city is run and the innovations implemented by both the local government and the businesses that reside in the city.
10 Barcelona, Spain 🇪🇸 9 Hong Kong 🇭🇰 8 Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰 7 Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 6 Tokyo, Japan 🇯🇵 5 London, United Kingdom 🇬🇧 4 New York, USA 🇺🇸 3 Paris, France 🇫🇷 2 Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 1 Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹
This video is so old and clearly biased as even ten years ago all across top tier Chinese cities there was electronic payment everywhere, awesome public transport routes, public bike rental schemes, crazy well designed subway lines. Then again most people have never been to China and western media are incapable of reporting positive news about our country. It’s shameful because humans should be impartial to facts. It doesn’t take away from one’s own accomplishments to acknowledge someone else’s. I haven’t been to China in 5 years and I’m sure it’s even more futuristic now. No country on earth can rival Chinese infrastructure and tech implementation, it takes a trip to China to see that, to experience it first hand rather than to read it somewhere online
Hm.. Do you hate? Seoul? why? where are you from? are you ? N.Korean Fukin Guy? or Japan Crazy Special Child? I belive Seoul is Hightak? Just Shut You mouth 퍼킨 비체~ 니 이름 한국이름이다 ㅂ ㅅ 아
No just tell him DO you already went LA Intl? and i did not toth [do you hate Seoul?] right? i tell to him just visit korea we are waiting and he say okay thats it
Toronto has nothing smart about it. Actually our Subways (metro) suck, our highways suck, our roads are awful, and construction is always around and never finished. I can't believe Toronto is even on this list let alone 2nd...
Portugal 100% LED lights in the streets..and 75% eco energy, best fresh food in the world, you have a 125 years old trams in service...Did you visit Portugal????
Hi. I am probably getting too serious here, but in this video, it is unclear about the criteria used for defining a smart-city. You just show some examples in random cities. Argumentation should start here, and define criteria used to establish a relevant list of cities that fit the best with criteria. How about energy consumption and renewable energy production? For example, why would you put Tokyo on the list when considering the lack of insulation of Japanese building and the huge resulting energy loss? Its not really a green city either... not that I don't like Tokyo, it is just and example. But I don't like Tokyo.
Hong Kong has the highest inequality rate in the developed world. The annual poverty line is 5070 USD and 1 in 5 people earns less than that. 100.000 people live in cages, rooftops or coffins. 1 in 4 children can't get 3 meals a day. So much for HK being smart. They can't solve the most basic problems for many people.
South Korea is very wired and digital country. I think Seoul, Busan(Centumn city), Daegu, Incheon(Songdo new city), Daejeon, Suwon(Samsung electronic headquarter is here), Sejong(Digital Government city) etc All South Korean cities are in high quality technology life. Not only Seoul. WIFI is basic of basic in South Korea. You can see next bus time by satellite in bus station in South Korea
WTF are these rankings? London 11th Greeniest city in Europe? I was born in Vilnius, Lithuania and moved to London and I can tell London is probably the most dirty, poluted, ungreen city we have in Europe. You can count trees on your fingers if you go out, no trees, no lakes, almost no forests, a couple of parks around concrete jungles.
We are now heading towards 2016, can you update this slide show? What has changed, what cities are in the lead now and why? What was learned from these initial smart city initiatives to take to the next version of smart cities?
London is great place, so I am not surprised to see this great city being ranked so high. Seeing Vienna, the city that I know well, being the number one on the list, really surprises me. There are smarter and greener cities around Europe and indeed around the world.
Just curious, where did Abu Dhabi come on this list, because, as I recall, they are making a mini city that produces (I think) zero carbon emissions. It's the MASDAR project.
They werent going by the people man. PAY ATTENTION!!! they were going by innovative ideas to progress the future and make quality of life better. It wasnt a college degree contest
Instead of telling everyone else to "go read", you should take your own advice. This TOP 10 is not about the most digitalised, skyscraperised, modernised cities in the world. It's about the SMARTEST cities in the world, which basically means - cities, that are able to cope efficiently with limited resources. From what I know, UAE is a huge waste of limited resources, that comes from the wealth provided by oil. We will run out of oil in the coming 100 years. I wonder what your UAE will be then.
There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true, You to need to go and read before you talk,
Why Toronto? Vancouver should replace Toronto. Better transit, roads, quality of life (#3 in the world), less construction, greens, technology, and many more!
Q:how many european cities are there in this top10? A:6 cities ! Q: How mant Canadian cities are there in this top10? A:1 city ! Q: How many American cities are there in this top? A: 1 city ! What rankings did you see?
to see Paris at rank 3 I think there's a problem with this top ! It's been 7 years I'm living there and the only thing we're innovating is dirty, beggars and unfriendlyness !
Double win: your city was #1 and you had the first comment.
I think Seoul should be on this list. I'm a Southeast Asian but I'm not selfish.
***** Does pollution have to do anything with the video?
+steven cellugi Yes I did. Don't see anything related to pollution.
***** I can speak perfect English thank you, I just don't understand any pollution-related things in the video.
***** I never said anything about "most advanced electronic cities"
***** You're just saying Seoul is not smart at solving pollution problems, not problems in general. No country is perfect. Yours and mine aren't too.
As an viennese i find this list very pleasing
As you should!
