  • I have started construction of this Grandfather Clock Makeover.
The clock includes a lunar phase dial and dual autowinders.
Currently all functions are working; I may change the drive gearing to increase the power as it seems to require a bit more.
I am waiting on parts to complete this project, so some parts are the wrong color, or have temporary substitutes and the entire roof is absent.
The base of the clock is now taller with a decorative raised panel section.
I am considering adding minutes digits to the edge of the chapter ring, you can see a couple of variations on the face.

Amazing. How well does this knife edge work long-term? According to my tests it has very nice performance, but I was always afraid that the bionicle pieces will start to dig into liftarms.

My wall clock has been running pretty much non-stop for 15 months, so I just pulled the pendulum and suspension to check them.
The lift arm shows no significant wear.
The bionicle pieces show some minor wear; so far, accuracy has not suffered, so I'll continue to use these until it becomes apparent they need replacing.
I will post some images in my community page.

@@darrellaldrich8334 Ok, thank you very much. Maybe I'll use this design more, it is slightly better than round bar in technic hole.

Your dual wheel escapement looks very compelling, I'd love to see it fitted to this knife edge.

@@darrellaldrich8334 Sure, I'll try that. In fact, I wanted to make a studless version of dual wheel escapement anyway, and this knife edge is very suitable for that.

@@davidziemkiewicz1350 I just posted some images in my community tab of some of the work I did regarding this that you may find useful. Specifically, resolving the half beam offset required to get the wheels to align properly.
