To open the back, you don't need to pull the wire/long pins out. Start at the bottom edge of the TV where there's a hole at each end. Use a pry tool like he has. Start by releasing the 2 bottom corners and then run the pry tool all the way around the TV, 2 pry tools are easier. You will hear the clips pop open as you go around. It sounds like it breaks but it doesn't. Then when you need to replace it just pushes back on in seconds. I hope this helps.
Thank you 🙏🏾 so much for posting this repair video. This fix worked on my Samsung UN55KS8000FXZA that kept boot cycling. You saved me a lot of $, and I feel so accomplished. I did this initially and it did not work. I knew I had a good power supply, but was not sure about the main board and led panel. I went ahead and installed a new main board and no change. I did not find any burned resistors on the led panel. Went back to scotch taping along the 2 connectors on the main board. Tried a few different sections and then all of a sudden, voila! For anyone other there with a Samsung and who has tried almost everything, try the scotch tape method again on various sections. You may get lucky! It’s worth a shot and costs zero dollars!
I love how this video actually gives you a solution, but i would love an explanation to the solution lol. Would be great to have a understanding of this problem.

if you see this problem as in the video, the problem is (COF), to fix it, cover the ribbon lines as in the video. ok, but your problem may be a little different, why do you need to cover the line with less or more or another ribbon to cover the lines, this TV has two ribbons that connect the display to the main board

Thanks a million. You just saved a very good TV from scrapping. Isolated pins 14 to 24 on the same ribbon and the tv is alive again, after collecting dust for an year.
To anyone interested I spent some time taking this a little further and in my instance narrowed the problem down to pin 24. But when I reinstalled I had another issue arrise and solved it by covering pins 22, 23, and 24. Reinstalled cable and tested works flawless with no issues and no color issues.
I’ve covered 3 pins, and now I’m receiving sound and a picture, however it’s very white and barely visible. Does anyone have any idea where to go from here?
Just want to say a big thank you. This method works wonders and saved me money from replacing the whole LED panel which the Samsung technician suggested. Everyone is different, just got to keep trying as to which pins are causing the problem. Initially covered 10 pins and the color on the right side of the screen looks dull, so I tried to isolate the pins further. It was tough work as it took me hours. The pins were very small and it was hard to just cover one pin. Eventually, I covered about 3 pins on the right side. The result was not totally perfect as there were some faint horizontal lines, but they were not obvious at all when watching the TV from a distance with the naked eye. There was also no color issues this time and I can finally watch my TV now! Hope this helps! 😅
Im having same issue, but cant locate which pins are causing the issue, did you just try one by one? Any method I can use to better find the pin with issue?
@@The1thegodfather3 you need to keep trying through "trial and error". try covering about 10 pins at a time, starting from one side slowly moving to the other side. once you have found where the issue is, you can start to reduce the tape size to just 3 to 5 pins. Patience is key. This solution will not be perfect, but as long as it's comfortable to your eyes, you can stop.🙂
I did covered about 10 pins from right to left. The colors in the screen were just about perfect, however, after mounting TV on the wall I noticed a back and forth brightness going to normal to lower coloring not much difference if you are not looking for that but it is happing... My guess I have to take the time again to find what pins I can covered and avoid the little small flickering of color. If I have to guess it is happing on the left side of screen if you look at it in front of you. Any of you had the same problem?
Amazing! Thought my 1 year old tv was trashed, Samsung wouldn’t help. Ran across this video so it was worth a try. From the right I left 15 pins exposed and covered 10, got sound but no pic so I covered one more pin and POW everything worked! Thank so much.
@@yonolo yes, the left side of my screen lost a bunch of color on certain channels but honestly I’m just happy I can use it. Samsung was willing to work with me on it at first but dropped my case. I was literally a day away from taking it to the dump. It makes a good spare bedroom tv.
I just clocked off work at 10:30pm. Riding my bike down the street I see a big Samsung tv. So I went back picked it up and plugged it in once I arrived to the house.. Black screen then shuts off. I found this video. I followed his steps and now the TV works. The people who threw it out have no idea what a simple fix it was.
My Samsung UA65 also having similar issue, Samsung service guy saying panel damage. I was going to their this away, luckily saw this guide. Initially I was very skeptical that this trick will not work. But amazingly it surprised me that it actually works! SUBSCRIBED & LIKED Keep this going Thanks and appreciate
This method sloved the problem. But in my case error is in other ribbon cable, so be patience and check both ribbon cables, also try changing the tape position until your tv is working. Good luck
It worked on Samsung un70nu6900f, exact same behavior, i used a strip of tape of like 5mm width, itried like 4 times starting from pin 8 from left, skipping like 3-5 pins each time. Good Luck.
Asi como lo puse funciono, lo unico es que como comentan algunos colores se ven mas frios, no iguales a como se veia pero almenos sirve, y como la falla es de la pantalla no de la placa no hay mucha opcion
You’re a lifesaver. I just fixed mine. Turns out it was my left ribbon that had the issue not my right. Kept moving the pins till it worked for me. Thank you. Much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Me and 4 other dudes were laughing at this video but we said f it we don’t have nothing to loose but our mind is blown why this worked. We are still confused so we thank you, you are much smarter then us
I actually did this before I seen the video earlier today! I noticed a faint brown line down 1 pin (sporadically)......it totally worked and no more reboot cycle. HOWEVER I had the same exact problem once I powered the TV off 😅
I will say this does work however you absolutely HAVE to disassemble it the way these guys do in the video I opted to take the bezel off the front thinking the screen was held in by something else but it's not, once I fixed it I tried tilting it up like these guys do and the screen shattered since the screen costs 750$ from scamsung this tv is now trashed
THANK YOU - I had this exact same problem on my 75" Samsung QLED TV. It took some time to get the TV apart, and I had to move my speaker box out of the way; but eventually got to the connectors. I wanted to isolate the "culprit" pins a little more, so I began experimenting with smaller pieces of tape. If you watch the guy that does "FrugalRepair"; he actually takes a similar problem and isolates it all the way down to covering just one pin with cellophane tape. I didn't have that much patience.... I was able to get picture and sound and the TV no longer cycles on and off. The only drawback: I have some minor horizontal lines in the upper left part of the screen--only noticeable up close. From normal viewing distance; it's GREAT!
@@moamen52ms No it won't fix it. It's not the main or power board. It's the panel shorting out the power board. This will fix the power cycling issue but you will notice horizontal lines and poor picture quality on the ride half of your screen.
Great Video, thanks. Taping worked on my 2,5 years old gq55q60r with bootloop, after checking everything else. Narrowed it down to two pins, somewhere at 15, starting from the left on same cable as shown. However, this will be my last samsung...
I'm experiencing this issue on the same model. Gq55q60r. I don't trust any Samsung mid range products. They're cheap built product. They only care about the flagship
Thank you, it is working for me. I hide pin 7-10 (from the right side) and now it works at all. If you have horizontal lines or black screen in vertical line, it is necessary to cut the tape and try which pin might be visible. If it is not working on one cable, try the second cable. At first I spent hours on the wrong side (cable). Thanks for that video! :) PS: That issue is caused by screen panel or ribbon or t-con board (?), it is useless to try powerboard or mainboard replacement.
@@apfeltasche96 Hi sir, can you help me on my Samsung UA50TU8000G TV? Mine is turning on and off but I do have pictures and sound. My TV has only 1 ribbon, what pins do I have to tape?
Hello. I want to ask you. Is it 100% pointless to change the source module and the mainboard if I have this problem? I ordered the parts and would like to exchange them. Have you experienced this? I want to know so that I don't try in vain. thanks
I’ve covered 3 pins, and now I’m receiving sound and a picture, however it’s very white and barely visible. Does anyone have any idea where to go from here?
If still doesn't work, unplug tv and take ribbon out and continue to adjust the tape across the ribbon little by little while making sure the tape is over hanging the contact points of ribbon each time. My Samsung UN60EH6003 ended up needing the strip at the very bottom of the ribbon.
Question for you - so I did this fox and it worked perfectly at first. As we watched the tv through the night the color changed on half of the tv. It was subtle, but definitely not right! Any ideas?
@@janelloyd4268 I would maybe check the tape to make sure it didn't come off, rip apart, or move slightly over exposing the contact point of pins around it. If tape is still good and in same position maybe try moving tape over 1 pin at a time to see if that fixes it. Hope this helps for you!
This trick totally worked for me, had to try twice with different size of tape strip and pin location, but it was worth trying this because it fixed my tv, thank you so much sir, did not know about your channel but I'm glad to have found you...
Just did this and worked perfectly thank you!!!! HOWEVER, I would recommend against taking out the Silver wire things he took out. The back of the tv clips onto those wires. I’m glad I didn’t do that step

This actually works believe it or not after ordering a new power supply that did not work and ordering the control module that did not work I found this video pulled the strip and added some tape and the TV turned on thank you so much for this video
Thank you thank you thank you!!! My bedroom TV was literally set up a few days prior to it doing this. This worked like a charm! You saved me so much money!! Bless you ❤️
Sir, you are my hero. I don’t often put comments on UA-cam but this one deserves it. I had the same exact issue with my TV. I solved this problem by following your steps. I only have one question about this. I didn’t use black electrical tape but regular scotch tape, which also solved my problem. Can this affect anything bad? Or is it just the same as the black tape? Thanks again for saving me my money 😋
Hello BNKTOP repacNMeHKO, My Samsung model is un55MU6290fxza MFG (2018) & Samsung un55NU6900fxza MFG(2018) same problem tv turns on and off every 10 seconds I put electric tape on ribbon cable @ pin #13 for left side of screen on both TVs and it worked 👍after repair there is no defect in viewing the picture in 55MU6290) after repair on (55NU6900 picture is ok with small lines not noticeable 👍 , thank you for the excellent instructional video
Cut the tape, make smaller one. You hide pin which is needed for video without lines. Move one pin left or right for example. I hide only 4pins (7-10 from the right side), before with 6 or 5 hidden pins i has horizontal lines and flickering.
Thank you so much!!!! This was very helpful, my TV is back online. Opening the TV was the easy part, locating the faulty pin after many attempts was the challenging part.
Could you please explain, which signals are you blocking ? I tried to count and it looks like you are blocking 12 signals starting from pin 14. But there are only 8 clock signals and they are pin 12-19 on that model.
Thank you!!! I fixed my tv. It took me like 6 hours, because the issue was not the same, but started to isulate the pins randomly and managa to fix it. Thanks again!
5 jahre alter Samsung ue55mu7049. Genau der Fehler. Pin 14 - 24 angeklebt. Alles funktioniert wieder! Noch nicht mal der kleinste Pixel Fehler. Super! Danke!
If it works after this trick ... will there be problems in the future? Where is the problem ... on the board where the power cable enters? If I have a replacement board, is this trick still needed? Thank you in advance
If my TV only has one ribbon this method won’t work? I tried for an hour and I got the TV to stop rebooting but there is no display. I see other comments like this can someone just let me know if it’ll work or not with 1 ribbon
Interesting, I'll try with kapton tape as it's thinner. But I always wondered if the metal backing where the ribbons connect on the bottom were touching the display causing a short to the control lines.
Thank you! Saved me a lot of money. Careful when removing back panel the corners crack easily. Mine was the same cable but the bottom half, get one regular piece of scotch tape and a thin one and work ur way down the ends keeping track of the little pins , took me like 2 hours testing both cable strips but eventually I narrowed it down. When u narrow it down to the possible area look closely at ur screen for lines or blurriness then pin point if the tape needs to be more thick or think and its that easy
I had to cut the tape very thin yo cover 3 pins and this worked for me, took me like 25 min to find the right pin, but u have to play with it till the picture is just right.
Same thing is happening on samsung un75nu8000fxza how do I fix this model any suggestions on which contacts I should cover with electrical tape? standby light flashes twice and trys to turn on about every 13 seconds.
Edwin when I open it up it doesn’t have a left screen and right screen circuit tape. On the motherboard there is only one tape. So different than the video where he unplugged the left screen and right screen worked.
Thank you for the hint mate, you got a new subsriber! I succesfully brought a Samsung TV (QE55Q60R) back to life. The strange thing is, that the less pins i covered with tape, the worst picture quality i got. I narrowed down the problem to pin 20-23 (same cable, same side - left as on the video), one of them is causing the bootloop issue. When i covered only these 4 pins, i got many visible missing line artifacts on the picture, so i used finally a broader tape covering 10-15 lines (from PIN 19), and picture looks almost perfect (only some greenish colouring at the edge of black and white, visible from very close distance). The result is absolutely acceptable for watching videos, TV, even computer image looks good. Otherwise this TV would go to recycling, as repair offer i got was 400 USD. If i may give you one advise - purely good intention -, please talk more or give more details, people want to know why you do exactly what you do. ;)
Okay so I got the Led light to stay on after adding the tape. That’s definitely progress, however I’m still not receiving picture on the screen, just like a bluish back light. Do I just need to move the tape around until picture comes back?
What did you do? I only have one ribbon instead of two, and I don't receive any part of the picture. I only see the TV turn on, as if I didn't put the ribbon back in at all
Hi, my tv also has one cable, can you help me out by specifying what exactly you did? I did tape off small section of the single cable and i was able to get the sound back but not the picture.
Same problem here, single ribbon in a Samsung 50” AU8000. When covering several pins on the right side: Backlight is on, sound is working, no picture. Trying to find a clear answer about whether this fix is possible with the single ribbon.
If someone could tell and or explain to me how to know which pins to cover first as a starting point I would appreciate it. The man in the video did not start on the end of the ribbon and work his way across. It would appear to me he started at a specific point for a specific reason. Maybe I’m wrong and maybe he just happen to guess correctly but something tells me he is pretty smart so there has to be some logic as to why he started 1/4 of the way down the ribbon and not at the beginning. Thanks
I can't comprehend how a tv that's sitting on the same place for a year and is turned on for maybe one hour a day just breaks out of nowhere. samsung TVs are just trash
Just started having issues with my 70" doing the same thing. Happens to still be within my 3 year warranty but was worried I wouldn't be able to replace it at the price I originally paid. It was a little difficult to decipher if I needed to cut a certain size and/or how many pins to cover. Only took two attempts and everything is in working order. I do recommend for those that who are trying to test if it's lit up to have help propping it up so as to not damage anything further. Didn't have electrical tape on hand so used a little bit of the tape holding the ribbons in place. Didn't have pry tools so used a flat head and lifted just a little all around the edges of my T.V. until each of the clips came undone.
@Jhyeire Stone Roughly about a quarter inch wide and around pin 14 to wherever it ended. It worked best for me having someone hold the T.V. up on both ends and letting me know when it was working. Had a small issue where it lit up but one side was dimmed without color.
Thank you so much I was bout to buy a new TV and thankfully I ran into your video. In the beginning it didn't work because the piece of tape I was using was too big. So I made them thinner and it worked !!!!!!! Thank you !!!!
My Q90R has failed after 18 months with same issue. If the warranty repair guys fix it with a piece of tape over some pins I will be right p***ed off as the pins are there for a reason so to take them out of the equation with a bit of tape seems wrong, even if it does work. There’s clearly a larger fault at play and I want it fixed properly.
Totally agree. It's a bodge which doesn't provide a complete cure, and you'd only do it if the set would otherwise be written off. If the TV is under warranty when this fault occurs, then Samsung must fix it properly and foot the bill.
Broo,my tv been sitting up for months bc of this . I tested the power supply and ruled that out then I was thinking that I needed to replace the main board . I CANT BELIEVE THIS SHIT ACTUALLY WORKED !!!! BRO THIS JUST SAVED MY MF DAY LOL FR! I JUST SAW A CRACJED SAMSUNG ON THE MARKETPLACE AND WAS GONNA USE IT FOR PARTS. Hi, Thanks for great information. I have a question Mr. I haw the same problem but my Samsung tv has only one flat cable, not has the second cable that you worked, it has only the first.. I use black tape in this first flat cable like a you used in the same position and this resolve the turn on and off fix but the screen continue black, has sound but continue black screen. Please If you can Help me, So I will be so thankful.
Unfortunately all Samsung TVs have now this crappy clip system. There is a samsung tool designed especially for this disassembly. In fact it's not so difficult with this tool, you just have to go around the cover with it and i have to admit it's fast. But it's still a piece of crap, often the clips break or other parts of the cover... Even on the technical documentation it is written that clips can break... The Panasonic Clip design is much more better and doesn't need special tool. On Panasonic the cover is stronger and more flexible, fewer but bigger clips. And there are just hooks at the top so you just have to unclip the sides and pull the cover down, a treat after disassembling a Samsung
Omg I was thinking there’s no way this is gonna fix my prob.. and it worked!!!!!!! Thank you!!!! Edit to add: this is not the same model as mine but it still worked
The TV I have a question for is an older UN60H6203AF. What would cause the TV to flash red and reboot? This is the first time I have ever caught it happening. TV has been on for most of its life but is working fine other than a random intermittent reboot. It does power back on, and stay on for quite some time; days without hesitation. Whether the TV is crashing in software, or the TV has a hardware issue; I have no clue. Been debating running a new circuit to the TV and adding a power conditioner to rule out line interference; but not sure that'll work. I guess PSU failure wouldn't be the worst; however it is hard to believe that's the problem. Main board seems more likely for me; just due to how slow the UI is; but it's a TV so I can't ask for much haha.. Slow Smart TV! I don't think this is early signs of a display failure; but who knows! I was wrong about display failure on our old 55" Vizio Smart TV.

So how you know where to put the electric tape ??
What the solution?
Which strips do I cover
Amazing! Thought my 1 year old tv was trashed, Samsung wouldn’t help. Ran across this video so it was worth a try. From the right I left 15 pins exposed and covered 10, got sound but no pic so I covered one more pin and POW everything worked! Thank so much.
Did you see any issues with your coloring on either side of the screen? That's currently my issue.
@@yonolo yes, the left side of my screen lost a bunch of color on certain channels but honestly I’m just happy I can use it. Samsung was willing to work with me on it at first but dropped my case. I was literally a day away from taking it to the dump. It makes a good spare bedroom tv.
Wish me luck I’m gonna have to try. Darn Samsung 70 inch
Update…. I trashed the 70 inch and bought a75 inch with a 4 year warranty. 🤦♂️
@@anoob4real didn't this fix work?
I just clocked off work at 10:30pm. Riding my bike down the street I see a big Samsung tv. So I went back picked it up and plugged it in once I arrived to the house.. Black screen then shuts off. I found this video. I followed his steps and now the TV works. The people who threw it out have no idea what a simple fix it was.
My Samsung UA65 also having similar issue, Samsung service guy saying panel damage.
I was going to their this away, luckily saw this guide.
Initially I was very skeptical that this trick will not work.
But amazingly it surprised me that it actually works!

Keep this going
Thanks and appreciate
This method sloved the problem. But in my case error is in other ribbon cable, so be patience and check both ribbon cables, also try changing the tape position until your tv is working. Good luck
It worked on Samsung un70nu6900f, exact same behavior, i used a strip of tape of like 5mm width, itried like 4 times starting from pin 8 from left, skipping like 3-5 pins each time.
Good Luck.
What pins did you end up covering?
You’re a lifesaver. I just fixed mine. Turns out it was my left ribbon that had the issue not my right. Kept moving the pins till it worked for me. Thank you. Much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
I’m in Nigeria also and I have same issue with my TV please how can I contact you
@ is it Samsung like this?
Me and 4 other dudes were laughing at this video but we said f it we don’t have nothing to loose but our mind is blown why this worked. We are still confused so we thank you, you are much smarter then us
I actually did this before I seen the video earlier today! I noticed a faint brown line down 1 pin (sporadically)......it totally worked and no more reboot cycle. HOWEVER I had the same exact problem once I powered the TV off 😅
Thank you so much for this video. You just saved me $1200. Much appreciated! Very easy and simple steps. You are Awesome my guy 🙏🏻👏🏻🍻
Your the Man !! Other channels don’t compare,Sincerely wanna say Thank you…
THANK YOU - I had this exact same problem on my 75" Samsung QLED TV. From normal viewing distance; it's GREAT!
i had the same isue with the samw tv i was wonder if i replaced the main board will back to normal
@@moamen52ms No it won't fix it. It's not the main or power board. It's the panel shorting out the power board. This will fix the power cycling issue but you will notice horizontal lines and poor picture quality on the ride half of your screen.
Hello. what is your model? after repair is there a defect when viewing the picture?
I dont understand where to put the tape ?
Which pins did you cover I’m having this issue now too
Great Video, thanks. Taping worked on my 2,5 years old gq55q60r with bootloop, after checking everything else. Narrowed it down to two pins, somewhere at 15, starting from the left on same cable as shown. However, this will be my last samsung...
Same, my tv is like 1 Year old and already it has a problem like this…
I'm experiencing this issue on the same model. Gq55q60r. I don't trust any Samsung mid range products. They're cheap built product. They only care about the flagship
Seems so, however 2 years has passed now since I taped, still working and no issues.
Thanks man, this absolutely works 😅 didn't have money for a new 70in set
Thank you, it is working for me. I hide pin 7-10 (from the right side) and now it works at all.
If you have horizontal lines or black screen in vertical line, it is necessary to cut the tape and try which pin might be visible. If it is not working on one cable, try the second cable. At first I spent hours on the wrong side (cable).
Thanks for that video! :)
PS: That issue is caused by screen panel or ribbon or t-con board (?), it is useless to try powerboard or mainboard replacement.
this is ribbon screen problem. failed series for a short time after you buy tv. only this problem is arising.

What do u mean at the bottom of the ribbon? Help pls
What if your TV only has one ribbon cable instead of two for left and right side
This trick totally worked for me, had to try twice with different size of tape strip and pin location, but it was worth trying this because it fixed my tv, thank you so much sir, did not know about your channel but I'm glad to have found you...
Ho many pins did you cover
How many pins will b covered n what number of pin will start to block..

this has worked for me but my TV has another issue due to me covering the wrong pins I'm guessing, how do you know which pins to actually cover?
Why did covering some lines on ribbon cable sort this. What was the fault
Thanks again for saving me my money 😋
the thing is, there is no problem, just cover the lines, that's all

Cut the tape, make smaller one. You hide pin which is needed for video without lines. Move one pin left or right for example. I hide only 4pins (7-10 from the right side), before with 6 or 5 hidden pins i has horizontal lines and flickering.

Could you please explain, which signals are you blocking ? I tried to count and it looks like you are blocking 12 signals starting from pin 14. But there are only 8 clock signals and they are pin 12-19 on that model.

By isolating the pin, it's no longer reseting. I can hear the sound of the menu, but still nothing shows on the screen :( The TV is samsung QE55Q60

There is faint horizontal lines that is brely seen. Will thikining the tape helps ?
I had to cut the tape very thin yo cover 3 pins and this worked for me, took me like 25 min to find the right pin, but u have to play with it till the picture is just right.

Thank you very much. It really worked. Took some work to it. But 2 and half hours to save that much money. I can say thank you enough.
If i may give you one advise - purely good intention -, please talk more or give more details, people want to know why you do exactly what you do. ;)
Hi nice to hear that it worked for you

Okay so I got the Led light to stay on after adding the tape. That’s definitely progress, however I’m still not receiving picture on the screen, just like a bluish back light. Do I just need to move the tape around until picture comes back?

Excellent 100% worked on my tv,thankyou for your generosity
If someone could tell and or explain to me how to know which pins to cover first as a starting point I would appreciate it. The man in the video did not start on the end of the ribbon and work his way across. It would appear to me he started at a specific point for a specific reason. Maybe I’m wrong and maybe he just happen to guess correctly but something tells me he is pretty smart so there has to be some logic as to why he started 1/4 of the way down the ribbon and not at the beginning. Thanks

Which pins did you end up covering? I have the same issue with my qled 70
@Jhyeire Stone Roughly about a quarter inch wide and around pin 14 to wherever it ended. It worked best for me having someone hold the T.V. up on both ends and letting me know when it was working. Had a small issue where it lit up but one side was dimmed without color.
@@MrStealYoSoul thanks I will give that a try!
@repairalltv You can't buy and replace the cable? seems like it would be easier to do that...
There’s clearly a larger fault at play and I want it fixed properly.
there is only one proper fix thats to replace the panel which will cost as much as a new tv.
Totally agree. It's a bodge which doesn't provide a complete cure, and you'd only do it if the set would otherwise be written off. If the TV is under warranty when this fault occurs, then Samsung must fix it properly and foot the bill.

I have not seen a tv that opens from this difficulty
Why don't they make TV with self destruct the moment you open the back cover? Only the authorized agents could bypass the booby trap.

@@drakestrauss9998 did you figure this out?
What could the problem be if the rebooting continues even after disconnecting the ribbons from the main board?
