    Great documentary. Some corrections;
    1. Brahman breed was not developed in Brazil. It was developed in USA using Indian cattle. It is primarily used for beef production there. Brazil has developed Girolando by crossing Holstein with Gir, Indubrasil by crossing Gir, Kankrej and Ongole apart from other breeds of cattle. Moreover, Indian breeds are also raised as purebred animals there and are selectively bred so that they perform better than the original Indian breeds themselves. In this context, Gyr from Gir breed, Nelore from Ongole breed, Sindi from Red Sindhi have been upgraded by selective breeding there. Currently, nearly 90% of the Brazilian beef industry is catered to by Nelore breed and 80% of the dairy industry is catered to by the Girolando breed. The focus in Brazil is now on upgrading the Sindi breed. India has a lot to learn from the focused Brazilian breeding programs.
    2. The distinction between Rath and Rathi has been mixed up a bit. The Rath breed is closely related to Hariana, Mewati and Nagore cattle breeds and is primarily kept for draught purposes by the Rath tribe in Rajasthan. The Rathi breed although from the same region (Bikaner, Ganganagar) as the Rath, is a mixture of Sahiwal and Tharparkar breeds and as such is a very good milker as opposed to the Rath breed.

      In our opinion, at least for now, milk production with your native breed is commercially not viable. You need to have Gir, Sahiwal, Sindhi breeds for more milk. The hype about A2 milk will not lost long and people will not pay double cost for desi milk. It is up to you to decide.

    • @ShramajeeviAgriFilms
      @ShramajeeviAgriFilms  9 років тому

      Arun Prasad Sir there is no such single source for any pure breed. You have to search in your locality.

    • @Rohit84up
      @Rohit84up 9 років тому

      Arun Prasad Red Sindhi, Sahiwal, Tharparkar are Pakistani breeds, why this documentary is keep calling them Indian breed of cattle?

    • @ShramajeeviAgriFilms
      @ShramajeeviAgriFilms  9 років тому +1

      Because once Pakistan was a part of of India! Practically all breeds belonging to Bos indicus group are termed as Indian breeds even though they are reared in any other country. More over place of origin is not so well defined in many breeds as they originate from that region, but not from a specific district or state.
