They were so far ahead of their time that today something like this would work and work brilliantly. A great album, still holds up.

I was so fortunate to see the Remote Control show at a small Youngstown Ohio AGORA CLUB! I'd seen them several times by then starting with the debut 1975 Tubes World Tour! This, show incorporated several televisions (natch!) much as this video portrays. To say the least, this show was Fn Amazing (duh, The Tubes shows are always amazing) and it was an absolutely incredulous performance. By the way, in case you haven't seen a Tubes show, they do not do concerts, they do SHOWS! Vaudeville and theatrics, great music, even commercials and skits between the songs that added more comedy to the proceedings. Remote Control! Hard to rate the best Tubes album, for me at least. But Remote Control is a masterpiece! (Well, I guess you wouldn't be watching this YT had you not already known that! THE TUBES BELONG IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!!! Nuff said .........................

What an incredibly advanced concept. Shame they pulled the plug so soon. I'd like to see someone would re-imagine Remote Control by applying these concepts to the generation who were raised by computers. Well done, Michael!

1979 in Columbus Ohio was wonderful. Intermission with a group of 20. It was an orgy or ROCK & ROLL Twister on Veteran's Memorial stage.

Incredible show ! And a great album to boot. saw them twice on this tour. First at the Palladium nyc. Fantastic show. Then later that year at Central Park in the pouring rain for the first hour. what a mess. Still a good show but not the indoor vibe since it was still light outside and couldn't give the light show justice. But damn what a hell of a tour. It was worth it.

Anywhere you can find footage, or photos or reviews of this 1 time concept show debut? I am captivated by this, it seems even an better idea than the conventional concert version. Learning they cancelled it because the visuals projections were out of sync, yet they never rehearsed it, only rehearsing the music, seems a bad decision to me. Especially after 1 show!

The worst show I ever saw. Even local highschool performances were better att in Amsterdam. Ok, I was spoiled by bands like AC/DC with Bon Scott going full throttle. Angus even married a Dutch woman. But The Tubes did not get it. At all. Why they still are a local band.

Seen both. Two completely different types of bands. Two completely different kinds of shows. Plenty of head banger bands out there for you to watch. Some people like the theatrical stuff at their shows. Maybe you'd do better to compare the AC/DC shows with shows from bands like Quiet Riot, or something.

@@Jimi_Lee nobody knew ACDC in 1977. The gig I went to was in Amsterdam, I am from Amsterdam, but the audience came from the Achterhoek. As the band "Normaal" was very popular in that regio. Angus built a €40M "traditional house" there after he married the former gf of Normaal's singer. Yup, in de Achterhoek. That's right.
I suppose it was not "just one of their gigs" that day. What do I know?
Now The Tubes in 1979.. before their gig in Amsterdam we spotted them in a bar around the corner of the venue. They left the bar just before the gig and chatted with the audience before the entrance. They were pissed and basically were wondering "what the hell are we doing here"? As the audience was very based. Their show was (already) stripped to the bone at that point, I suppose. A cardboard tv, a motor on stage and Fee threw a package of Marlboro on stage. Cheap af. Anyway, I never forget the Tubes standing on stage at the end of the gig while the old Carré theatre, with expensive velvet seats et al, was getting demolished around them. It's usually a stand-up comedian venue. Can't remember they ever welcomed a rock band again. Trust me: they didn't. The Tubes were that bad. They literally seem not to care, just running through the motions.
I stand corrected. The Tubes could have been famous, but after they dumped Re Styles they never got their audience back. Fee must be a very insecure guy. He tried to make it look like the Tubes were all about him. He lets no opportunity go by to tell you how awesome he is and how April Wine sucked.
Now here's the thing that still bothers me: I looked for ages to figure out whatever happened to Re Styles. What her name was.. zero luck.
I had to read at her former boyfriend's site (Prairie Prince) that she died. What her original name was. The photo impression was sloppy as well. In style, so to speak.
Ok, I think I am through this now; teenage trauma ;)
