There is no statistical difference between regular and defensive autocasting, it only affects what xp you get

You get +3 magic in regular, +1 magic and +2 defense in defensive cast. These apply to level I believe

Irrc i was defensive casting in hopes to get extra distance for each cast to stay safer, but idk if mage works like that
