      It's widely spoken in Western Zambia in the region formerly known as Barotseland and I think basothos call us barotses rather than malozi

    As Mosotho or Sesotho speaking person from South Africa, Balozi are people that I'll never struggle speaking to ,when l arrive in Zambia. Silozi is so similar to Sesotho

      @@givenmathabathe4694 selobedu is more related to Shona but these languages are very closely related,Tshivenda,Xitsonga and Sothotswana.
      Here and there some words link to other languages because of intermingling.

      Lozi people migrated from Lesotho during the difaqane wars and settled in Zambia that's why the languages are so similar

      @@rantsotimohlophehi8010 Bafokeng Sotho-Tswana people migrated from the area of the current day Free State, not Lesotho. There was no Lesotho then. To present day Zambia where they conquered the Luyana people. They weren't Lozi at this point. Lozi came later.

      @@rantsotimohlophehi8010 wrong! The Patsa clan of the Bafokeng Kololo ran from South Africa until they reached Western Zambia, where they conquered the local Luyi from the Luba Lunda Empire of DRC. The Kololo imposed their language on the Luyi and hence we have Lozi.

      @@davidmak741 From my understanding Basotho people don't originate from Barotseland. A group of them (the Kololo) migrated to the Barotseland because of the clashes they had with the Zulu people. So the reason Silozi sounds like Sesotho is because the Sotho people (the Kololo) brought their language to the region after they had conquered the people of Barotseland. They were later overthrown, but the influence of the language remained.

      I think It's a dialect of old Sesotho before Sesotho adopted clicks, Xhosa and Zulu words.

      Lozi's are descendants of the South Sotho who defeated the Luyana people (The Sotho's are the ones who named "Mosi-oa-Tunya" ie Victoria Falls as they crossed the Zambezi river before the arrival of David Livingstone...

      It's really sad....they don't teach our history at schools guys, it's rather sad.Most of us don't know our history, we are finding out things on our own as we grow.

      In sesotho the word "Bohata" also means fake. Lozi is closely related to sesotho then it is to sepedi and setswana.

      @@keamogetswemaribe7821 The Sotho went to Zambia and defeated the Lozi people and established their kingdom, later years on the lozi fought back and got their kingdom but the Sotho had already infused their language and intermarrying.
      So u are the parents.

      🤣🤣🤣... Nathan I know right, my Grandpa would hug her for speaking so lovely. He hated it when we spoke english so much. He really taught us well. I can write to some extent. So we spoke silozi strictly at home and english as long as you left home🤣🤣
