Hi Sandy, this has made my day ! I make these videos to preserve history and ex patrons etc to look back and see how their home town is doing etc. So I am so pleased you get an idea of your grand fathers home town! 😉
Just found your video, very interesting. I left Sittingbourne over 40 years ago. Big changes around the back of the High St but I do remember two way traffic and Saturday morning cinema in what is now Mecca . Mum lived in Park Road many more cars now. I lived in Chalkwell Rd and Hall Close, Milton , went to westlands school on London rd.
It has changed a lot in that timescale. Loads of new housing developments going up all over and currently town is gridlocked most day due to poor traffic infrastructure with all the development.😔
Lived in Chalkwell Road until 2013 when we moved to Boston in Lincolnshire. Loved the house and the area. Thanks for bringing back some memories, good to see most of the shops in the High street are still going. Some things have changed, but I'm glad to say a lot is still the same. We definitely couldn't afford to move back though!
Our Petrol prices are almost double here in the states! Also ,we are traveling to the U.K. in a couple months. Can you recommend any places to stay at or any places that would be fun for my two boys and I ages 10 and 14 and I? Also, do you know of any sightseeing places that would be fun after the boys are asleep😊🍺🍻
Very interesting, well made and very enjoyable. I was brought up in Sittingbourne and left it in 1972. I've been back twice and was not at all impressed, but it's still home and parts of it haven't changed much. The former Adult Education centre was the original Borden Grammar School and if I've got anything to really thank Sittingbourne for it's a cracking good education at the 'new' BGS. Lots of memories of the closed pubs - mostly well before my 18th...
My great grandparents were born in Sittingbourne in the late 1800's. They moved to New Hampshire, USA in the early 1900's. Have wanted to visit Sittingbourne but most of the comments from videos I've seen are not that favorable about the place :( My great grand father was a Bevis and grandmother was a Spring.
I used to live near on Park Road but moved away nearly 30 years ago. Not been back since so I'm shocked at just how different the town looks now. Thanks for the tour of my home town and all the memories that flooded back.
You should have pointed out Barclays cafe and pie shop in East Street been there for years best pies ever and Barrows in high street never found a better bakery in the country.
Lets take a drive over the OLD and NEW Sheppey Crossings - ua-cam.com/video/y77K1qXKCO4/v-deo.html
Thanks! very enjoyable. My Mother was born in Sittingbourne during the war. Always wondered what it was like. I live in Tasmania, Australia.
Your welcome glade you found it of interest.
Thank you for sharing! My gr-grandfather was born here, but I've never had the chance to visit. I live in Washington State, USA

Just turn up and let your adventure take its own course.,.,.,., You'll have an amazing time !!!!
The prices you see here are per litre, not per gallon, so your petrol/gas prices are actually much cheaper in the US.
Red lights ha ha ,7 estate agents . I'm so lost been there once 😅. Loved it thank you will come again 😊
Cheers
After growing up there, I left Sittingbourne 40 years ago. Never been back. Don't miss it much, but still a nice video to see what is like now.
Glad you appreciated, many thanks

Glad you enjoyed it... I plan on doing the same route every year on the same date to show the changing face of the town every year.
Was born in Bell Road bottom end on the left where the old folks home now stands.

Yeah yeah whatever, Give gay and trans people the right to live in Palestine without getting thrown off buildings!
Can't escape the Medway Norse vans even in Swale!

May do another video of the high street and East street highlighting places and what they used to be etc 😀
Australian estate looks nothing like suburban Australia...
I have no Idea what the connection could possibly be?
Watching from Australia btw
Hi Davey thanks for watching. There is another estate near that one called the New Zealand estate. Maybe the house designer was well travelled 😀
All the roads are named after places in Australia. But I'm not aware of any actual connection
How could you not mention central pie shop! Sittingbourne was Built off the back of them pies 😅
